Today I got 8 email Image Not Selected messages on images that were uploaded and on the site for more than 4 yrs. Is this a glitch or is this a re-editing of content? 3 of the images were from set with dozens of downloads and about 30 similar images. Anyone else get these?

I got four.  Bizarre.

" Our agency applies a pre-established set of criteria, against which each image is checked. In order to maximize your sales we maintain the right to select all images included in the database.

Unfortunately, the image you have submitted was not selected. If you can fix the reason(s) mentioned below please re-upload the file. In this case, use the following ID when filling in the file details for your next submission, in order to obtain a priority review. "

Same here.  Standard reject reason for shots taken and submitted 10 years ago.

"Thank you for contacting Dreamstime.
We often perform routine reviews of the existing database and we may remove files that are already online but no longer meet criteria or have copyright issues.
I hope this clarifies why you have older files refused now.
Let me know if you have other questions or require further assistance."

Not sure exactly what they mean. There are still a dozen other files from same shoot that have totaled 35 downloads.

It's not like I really care. Dreamstime has never been a producer for me.

Ok, how stupid is this?  This image (and a few others):

"Due to child protection laws and internet watchdogs rules we can no longer keep such images online as they are considered inappropriate or interpretable.
We are in the process of removing all such imagery from our online database.
Thank you for your understanding."

For Real

Just when you think the MS companies cannot do anything stupider they somehow find a why! Why not take all the cat and dog images off lines as well --due to animal protection laws...

I've been trying to turn those emails off for years with no luck. Have them marked to go straight to spam folder so I never see them.

Shutterstock is also having new policy to stop contributor for using keyword like "diabetic" or "handicapped parking" because it sounds inappropriate.

They want you to use "a person with diabetes" or "accessible parking" now.

I didn't have any problems getting images with the word "diabetic" in keywords and title approved on SS just last week.

They said they this guideline will be starting on 14 Sept 2021.

Another 8 rejected.  How moronic.

I also had eight killed today and another dozen over the last week or so.  Stupid.  One is a businessman with a noose around his neck.  Inappropriate.

I also had numerous images deleted since June.  This is a response I received about an image of mine of a child sticking their tongue out.

"The image became unacceptable in light of new child policy regulations. In short we have to remove and no longer accept any images that may be deemed by regulators as inappropriate. This includes this kind of images where children stick their tongues out. While we consider them innocent there are people out there who don't so we must prevent any inappropriate usage and the only way to do this is to systematically remove everything we had online and no longer accept such images."

Seems like that could apply to almost any subject  :-\

Sean Locke Photography

Exactly.  Any image can be used inappropriately.  They're taking the lazy way out.  Instead of doing their job to police usage.

Pixart

I had a gymnast removed too!  They better not touch my dancers!

For Real

they removed one of my images with my daughter and our dog both sticking their tongues out!  So does DT think with a porn mindset all the time?

Sooooo happy that the only living things I "shoot" are plants, wild birds, and assorted other wild critters.

I also have very nice photos of mating birds (Golden-fronted Woodpeckers and Northern Shoveler ducks come quickly to mind) that were rejected by several of the stock sites.

These are "normal scenes" that you find in every tree or marsh in springtime.

Kinda puritanical, ain't it?

This is what politically correct word policing does. But you see, we're more in tune and have better understanding of sensitive issues now. Just keep changing what things are called or how we're supposed to speak and think, to keep us all guessing. Making the world a better place?

Will this mean that where I park for "Senior Citizen Only" will have to be changed to Enabled Elderly, since I'm not Handicapped. Oh that's right, there are no handicaps anymore, just challenges, and special access. Does Diabetic hint of fat. (or in polite terms large people). I thought it was as simple as a medical condition, kids have it, old folks who aren't large have the condition.

Oh I get it... we won't be able to say cholesterol either, just LDL challenged.  ;D Hi my name is Pete and I'm LDL challenged. Group session in unison: "hello Pete" Then I go on to confess to my fat eating, saturated and trans fats transgressions. I had an all egg yolk omelet on Saturday, I feel so guilty. But Lipitor is in the pill box, one every night.

Meanwhile someone needs to make the ADA "aware" and wake them up, that it's not right to say Diabetes.

Now it hit me too.  Reason: "Image may be inappropriate for stock"
What's inappropriate about this? Sure, I know some people don't like muzzles on dogs, but I also don't like eggplants, no reason to forbid photos of them. In many European countries dogs have to wear muzzles in places like public transportations. It's a law - so what's inappropriate about showing a dog with a muzzle?

And what exactly is Dreamstime's plan here? Remove all photos in the database related to certain everyday topics so their customers have to go somewhere else if they need photos of these topics?  :o

I got another one today. Seems like they are doing it is batches Or maybe it was an end-of-the-month quota.
