If it's tribal symbol the head is small. If it's a land or water feature, that doesn't make sense because of the curved part.

Looks like a side profile of a man's hair, back of the head to the left and the gap for the face to the right. Sideburns in the middle at the bottom, hole for the ear just to the left of that, receding hairline top right and I guess the fuzzy bit in the middle is some kind of reflection.

Yes, or a helmet from the roman era.

Agree it looks most like part of an ancient helmet in profile. Any context?

I am with SpaceStockFootage here. It's the side view of a man's hair. It's not so obvious when it's all pixelated like this in full size, but when you resize it and look at the small version, it's 100% obvious.

And if I had to guess which man in particular... my money would be on Zod.

Yes I did some comparisons and this isn't just something new. The question has been about for many years. I didn't want to lead anyone with the Roman warrior idea, or hair or maybe a tribal warrior with a headdress. I searched maps for lakes, or places like the Aleutian Islands.

Turned the other way, it's not so much "obviously" a profile of a hairdo and side burns.



ps It's a casino chip, and within the gaming collecting group, which I'm one of those, no one has ever discovered the source. They have been found in Red and Blue. The white is just to remove the background and provide more contrast.

Purchased from an eBay seller somewhere in the Eastern US, over 20 years ago.

Maybe pareidolia, maybe not. Could be a knife with a handle? Only thing I know for sure is, it's an obsolete gaming chip. And this mold hasn't been used to make chips for over 20 years.

DIAMOND-SQUARE-SQUARE (DISQSQ) (or SQUARE-SQUARE-DIAMOND [SQSQDI]) -- a diamond and two squares (hubs), repeated 8 times. It was owned by the Burt Co., and was later owned by its successor, Atlantic Molding.  They called it the "2 square-diamond" mold.  Until about 1990 it was used by some foreign casinos.  In its heydays it was used by  Code and Co., Chicago IL; and San Francisco Card Co.

UPDATE: this mold is not in use anymore, has not been used to make chips in some 20 years. It was donated to the Nevada Historical Society and is on display there.

I've been looking through Umbrian Etruscan statues on Google but I could be flogging a dead horse.

Some are very stylised so I thought it could be a warriors head in profile?

Thanks for the ideas. Believe me casino collectors have been looking at this  for a long time and there's no better answer. 

If it is a profile of a balding man then the white spot might just be reflection of light. You know, when you grease your hair and light falls on it.

Might this have originally been printed on? So the indent is the hair to add a bit of a 3D effect but the actual token/chip also had a face in profile inked on it.
