Thanks for pointing these bizarre portfolios out - I say bizarre as they're such a mixture of styles and subjects it beggars belief that these came from one person. And for bosphorus_tr, we have such glories as "Marry Chrismas" on a seasonal image and "Election Day - The third of the November -" (and it was in 2020 that it was November 3rd). There are white gaps on the edges of some of the composites; squished birds; sideways clouds - even if this stuff wasn't stolen, lots of it should never have been accepted!

I didn't find anything of mine, but did you report the ones of yours to Shutterstock compliance?

This is from bosphorus_tr  :o

Lol. What a joke.
Love it how the Shutterstock watermark blends in perfectly.
Marry Shutterstock, Christmas!

I saw several of my images stolen by theses contributors :

Nice you saw several. I see 100s of stolen portfolios still operating.

Digital

What's wrong with this image? I wouldn't upload anything better for the $0.10 they pay...

Noedelhap

You can see how initially they start out with "original" ideas like this:

And then they're like: "why doesn't this sell?" before resorting to stealing images and crudely stitching some images together in Photoshop.

This thread is like seeing an ex dealing drugs in a parking lot.

Makes me glad I left, but also ticks me off that they're still getting away with stuff.

Yes, I did it today.
Apparently they make very poor collages with differents images including mines.
I don't spend time to search for stolen images (too depressive), but I find without searching... here I was looking of the keywords of one of my image on the shutterstock page and I saw the stolen images in the similar images.

Again,

A portfolio full of stolen images. I saw 2 of mine, reported to Shutterstock.

Wilm

This portfolio is also full of stolen images. Many of them are mirrored.
Since I am not affected, I unfortunately cannot report this to shutterstock.

They started with three images and then the rest are probably all stolen. Here's image #1 "Joe Biden's homeland. Rivers in the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia"  :o

The Sunflower images look like AI.

Yes, 1 day for Freepick, 3 days for Shutterstock.

Another suspect account:

Everyone might want to check out this one.

Also, check the first two links to this dog image, from the above portfolio, as they are also copied. The third image in the similars below, links to the legitimate owner, who has a whole sequence of other images from the same shoot. I thought there was software in place to pick this up?

Nothing of mine, but everything I checked was stolen from someone else. Examples:

https://depositphotos.com/184851914/stock-photo-hello-summer-concept-letters-carved.html

This one is a doozy - it's been stolen multiple times. I believe Javier Brosch is the real owner:

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/damedeeso
http://javierbrosch.com/
https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/jack-russell-dog-sitting-on-inflatable-298920140

Here's the thief's image (the one reported above)

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/vibrant-colors-lush-greenery-glistening-waters-2328710933

And here are other SS copies of this image by other thieves

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/beach-summer-dog-cruising-on-river-2325642901
https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/jack-russell-dog-on-ocean-sea-2318045133

And does SS notice this? The "similar images" soon will be full of nothing but copies of Javier's work :(

I sent email to Javier (using his website) to let him know about the thieves, suggesting he contact Shutterstock compliance

kuriouskat

Thanks, Jo Ann - I was going to search for contact details for the legitimate owner today. You have saved me the trouble :)

And here's another one to check:

This guy has over 2k images :(

This:

Is taken from Vecteezy here:

This:

Not only that, but his most popular image has had 'Versace' added to the description and keywords, and he's uploading two identical files as JPG and EPS. Where is the filter to stop this from happening? If I tried that, I'd get one rejected, for sure.

It's very hard to try and earn if you are keeping within the rules here. It seems the thieves and cheats are largely getting away with everything these days.

Edited to add: I reported this to Adobe and the stolen portfolio has been taken down.

And another thief - a very familar-looking genAI Halloween image which appears to be stolen from another genAI portfolio. There are so many look-alike Halloween images, but these are identical. The thief's portfolio is small, so it's possible that more of the images than the ones I identified using Adobe Stock's find similar feature.

Originals (earlier image numbers)

https://stock.adobe.com/images/spooky-dark-halloween-background-illustration-ai-generative/602147211

https://stock.adobe.com/images/spooky-dark-halloween-background-illustration-ai-generative/602147226

Copies

https://stock.adobe.com/images/spooky-dark-halloween-background-illustration/625143408
https://stock.adobe.com/images/halloween-spooky-background-illustration-ai-generative/625144105
https://stock.adobe.com/images/spooky-dark-halloween-illustration/625143168

For giggles, look at the find similar results, genAI only, for the first illustration. It's a mind-bending display of derivative work.

If I can identify these using the Find Similar feature, so can the Adobe review process. This should never have seen the light of day.

Machine Learning has a limited base and after it learns what the "right" image is supposed to look like, then it will make more that look similar. I think we should all be seeing how results for many varied prompts, can come down to, what the AI thinks is the best result, so it starts to repeat that best result, with minor variations.

Biggest problem still is AI doesn't understand how things work, it just understands matching and creating new from the old.

GIGO weak prompts will give equally poor, similar images.
