July 12th I had a refund of $0.252 for an image sold in June 2016!

6 Years ago!  I thought Alamy were bad with their refund policy but this is ridiculous.

What a shower of sh-it  :(

Me too, but for an image sold in July 2016.

I had that yesterday too, Mimi.

The images were downloaded on May 5, 2014. This brought my RPD for this month at 123rf down to $0.13.

They can't be serious about any of this!!!

I was just about to send an e-mail to 123rf - via the contact form, to clarify about the refunds.
And what do I get there?

Dreamstime royalties???

Wilm

I have now written to them. As soon as I have an answer, I will post it here.

Dear 123rf team,

yesterday I had 3 refunds. One for an image downloaded in 2020 and 2 for images downloaded in 2014.

After more than 8 years I am getting revenue deducted??? Surely this can't be serious!

I expect an explanation for this.

Yours sincerely,

Wilm Ihlenfeld/numismarty

Sorry, I seem to have asked a question in the past and accidentally wrote Dreamstime instead of 123rf. Forget this post.

According to this 123RF claimed the refunds were a mistake and they removed them again. Not sure how such a weird mistake can happen in the first place and why it keeps happening.

Thanks for the information, Firn!

Same "mistake" my energy company likes to make. Add erroneous fees to everyone's bills, apologise and remove for the few that actually spot them, pocket the rest.

Noedelhap

I have 2 refunds as well, one from May 2022 and one from June 2016!

So these "mistakes" keep popping up from time to time? 123RF really needs to get their sh__ together.

Yes, I suspect companies do this quite frequently. My car insurance bill is most always the same amount, unless I pass a milestone where it actually goes down. This month, it's about 50 cents different, more than usual.

Insurance company or microstock, all they have to do is short everyone cents, multiplied by how many insured or photographers, and they make themselves a fast little chunk of change. And they figure no ones gonna gripe about a few cents here and there. 😡

I've inquired about it before (insurance), and was told it's just "adjustments". Right.

With the software quality of 123's platform, these absurdities do not surprise me much.

I have not received an answer from 123rf yet. But today they took money from me again for a sale from 2016. Great!  >:(

Me too, but for an image sold in July 2016.
Now I just noticed, that this refund is for the same sale as the first refund in april.

So now waiting to see, if there are more refunds in the next days, as there were in april. Unfortunately I only noted sale details for the first refund in april.

Wilm

This is now the fourth refund within 3 days.
The downloaded images are no longer displayed.
Now it also does not show when this last image was downloaded. The display in the total overview differs from the display in the daily overview. I think there is a bug in the system.

Of course I have not received an answer yet.

Wilm

Besides, there are also downloads that do not bring any earnings. On July 12 also one - just like yesterday...

I will write to them again. There is something wrong.

Wilm

I have not received a reply yet, but there are now no refunds to be seen. Now everything is correct again.

Mimi the Cat

Anyway just as mysteriously the -$0.252 refund has disappeared today.

Probably the usual glitch/screw up.   ::)

Amazon is not allowing returns on digital music purchases so why do all these agencies allow returns on digital items? All sales should be final.

Way back, right before I closed my account, somewhere in the Dark Ages, I had deductions and refunds on 123RF. When I looked at what, the images were no longer there. Then I remembered, I removed them. Not saying this is the complete or correct answer, but the problem was their accounting software that deducted sales, if the image was removed.

And that's what I'd suspect is behind this.

For $5 a month I'm never going to put up with their BS and I don't understand why so many people still do?
