I don't think anyone has mentioned this site yet, I just saw it mentioned on Twitter and decided to check it out. https://www.stockai.com/ This is a stock site giving away free AI generated stock photos. I had a quick look through. You will find people with 5 arms here and there, or a dog with a human mouth. But other than some really obvious AI errors, there's so far a lot of beautiful photos on there.

Maybe I will be alone with my opinion here, but I think these photos all look awful.
There is something almost creepy about the way these people look. Even when the AI doesn't make errors with anatomy, everything is  "too perfect", "too smooth" and kind of too flat. The lack of texture in everything makes it look like graphics from a modern computer game. Maybe if I saw a single photo like this somewhere I would not notice, but when they are all put together like this, it looks like there is just something awfully wrong about them.

Yes, while I am sure things will imrprove with the "ai" (which isn't true "ai", but rather re-arranging things like a jigsaw puzzle and then 'blending' them together, using computer algorithms that simply 'map' images)... it is funny seeing half chopped off legs, missing fingers, etc in some of these images...

This is a great source for understanding what NOT to shoot anymore.

I guess I don't understand AI, how does he get so many of the same models?

Exactly - I think the one I posted above is a good example due to that very human hand - the dead eyes are a sure give-away.

I remember taking my daughter to see Polar Express when she was young. We loved the book - i read it to her countless times, and later she to me. And we both love Tom Hanks. But that humanoid Tom Hanks gave me the creeps. I'll take Anime over computer generated cartoon people any day. (But nothing beats the old hand drawn cels like Snow White (if you ignore her jarring non-PC name and the non-feminist need to be rescued by a prince). She, and even the dwarves, look more "real" than that eerily odd Tom Hanks conductor.

Most likely StockAI had to close down because they were too far ahead of time.

The day will come when an AI will be able to churn out images perfectly matching the human client's wishes, but that day will still have to wait for quite a while.
For the time being the AI's seem to have have a rather poor perception of reality, as this funny answer of ChatGPC may elucidate:

That's probably why my AI-generated / human-commonsensed images keep selling well on the agencies as well as on my site.
And no dear troll, that's no easy job. Try to believe.

I believe it's not easy.  I've been trying to get a usable image from DALL-E without success. One horror show after another.  How do you do it?
