I don't know what to think about it and I am not Canva contributor, just sharing the news. I am happy that Adobe will get more competition, I think it will help them become less arrogant. On the other hand, I am unhappy because greedy agencies have to put their claws on last affordable software and basically everything they see. We'll see how it all develops.

My guess is it will become subscription based.

While I think it's well possible that they will go that route, they would risk losing the only real advantage Affinity really has over Adobe. The only reason why I ever even looked into Affinity was that it was not subscription based.

Yes, many people use it because of this, I've used it for a while at some point too, but that was my first thought when I saw the news.

Just that the price won't be $49 anymore, it will be $490?  ;D ;)  Actually I still use Elements and Premier which are $149 download. I have Affinity and I also have the free CC Photo package. Here's hoping that Canva with more financial backing, will improve Affinity and make it even better.

If I understand this right, Canva was started to help people who don't have editing training and wanted a simple way to create. Affinity is pretty straight forward and fits the same goal. Competition is good for all of us.
