Initial 10

I have had 2 of the initial 10 submissions knocked back now. Some of these are for reasons like noise but some only say "Not approved"

I assumed that this was just because the reviewer did not like these images even though there was nothing wrong with them technically. I have read on a post on the Shutterstock forum that suggests if there is no reason it is because the image itself is ok but I did not meet the 7 out of 10 so all images are marked "not approved"

I'd like to know as if some of my past submissions are good enough I'll resubmit them.

Thanks

do you have your photos elsewhere? post a link to yor portfolio

If one of us is feeling kind we may suggest ten photos to try. I find that variety is almost as important as the techicnal aspects remember no noise and no blown out highlights if there are any pixels at 255 luminosity you may have trouble.

I would suggest you to avoid sky in first submition , cause it can be tricky to reduce noise and not do remove details , and SS don't want , noise :).

I wouldnt send nothing over white  in first batch also.

I would sent the money shot , Spanish chapel ( but get rid of the noise on the sky , if any , you can use the blur tool also cause its clear sky shoot) , few of baby shoots , 2 lets say

i thought the video game and the toothbrush ones were nice.  Not sure about the copyright issues on the nintendo wii though.  It might be risky if shutterstock has a problem with that.

perhaps one of the puzzle ones

I think the fire ones are a little 'fake looking' and perhaps wouldn't submit those.

The spanish church and computer keyboard are also nice as long as you are sure you do not have any noise in them.  if you want us to give our opinion on noise, take a small sample of the image in the darks or blues and upload it here at 100%, or better yet, 200%.

Vally -- I believe you are correct, that those "not approved" may be the ones that were merely rejected because you didn't hit the magic number of 7.  Meaning they actually were okay.
I got shot down by SS, gee I forget, 3 or 4 times....  I would recycle the ones that 'passed' on the first and second try.  On the final try, the one when I was accepted, 8 passed.. it is interesting that one of the two shot rejected, was a recycled that had passed every try before... Don't know what to tell you about recycling previous submissions, but that's what happened to me.   :o
Very good advice above,  absolutely stay away from a lot of blue sky, isolated on white, really any pic where the majority of it is solid color. SS is fanatical about noise.  8) -tom

Thanks everyone for your advice - I was accepted last night with 8 out of 10 and now have about 30 files up there.

For the record the others that were initially marked as rejected without a technical reason were ok -wish I had realised that from the 1st attempt.

I resubmitted about 6 of these again -one of which was rejected for noise.

Leaf - I agree totally about the fire ones - I was messing about with Photoshop and thought i may as well stick it up there!

the fire images:  i know what you mean :)  I have quite a few images that i did something with, or didn't to anything with, and thought.. ahh well I may as well at least try to upload it. someone might want it.
