Well usually I am pretty patient and don't care when files get rejected for whatever reason.  I have learned that it's no big deal.  But today, after all that hard work.... Istock rejected 11 of my 15 photos for what reason?  I had included the PO box as part of the models address.  All the other info is their including their home address, but they still rejected it.  (Even though they have accepted these model releases for months already!)

I was going to email scout.... but then I get an error telling me one of the fields isn't filled in even though all of them are.  Frustrating it is, and I will forget about it.

Do you guys think I really need to get a model release filled out again without a PO Box as part of the address?  That's ridiculous!   >:(

(Maybe I'm just whining..... take it with a grain of salt.)

Yes, even in this day and age, people actually have PO boxes as part of their mailing address.

I have noticed IStock is getting super stringent about their releases.  I recently uploaded a video with an 3D alien I had made from scratch and yes, I uploaded my screenshot of it being made and got this message from them "Could you please also upload a document stating ownership of the alien model\'s copyright?".  So apparently the screenshot for 3D animations are not enough now either (although I did have the alien in 3 other videos that were all approved).  I contacted support and asked them to please send me the document they would like me to fill out since neither the model release or the property release will work for what they are asking.  I think they are going a little far with their expectations and actions lately.  I think my screenshot of it being made would be sufficient enough to prove I made it.

And I don't understand why they would reject your photo because the model release also included a PO Box.  I sometimes think that uploading there is not worth it.

Was it just one screengrab you supplied? I'd argue that's nowhere near enough for an inspector to judge on. For a typical illustration I supply around 5 or 6 screengrabs showing start to finish, plus an original sketch (combined into one JPEG file). Thankfully, I haven't had one rejected for 'ownership' problems yet.

Yes, it was one screenshot with the software it was being made with and components, just like it always has been and just like the ones that they did accept (on the same day as this one).  This is the same system I have used for all of my 3D and 2D videos, and have never once had a problem with.  Besides, their not asking for more screenshots of it being made, their asking for documentation stating ownership that I own the copyright to the model.

I've had rejections for P.O. boxes before from them too, and I usually make a phone call up to HQ.  Hello! People!  You are located in Alberta!  Hello!  There are rural Albertans all over!  Alberta beef...do you think we are keeping them in a backyard in the city???  People do live on acerages & farms in this country!   I was told that a memo was sent around last year to the inspectors telling them not to reject for P.O. boxes but apparently not all the inspectors read it, because they are still doing it.  It is very annoying and just plain dumb on their part!  Try getting married or divorced and changing your name....a whole new nightmare with MRs!

Just call and ask why your being asked to lie on an MR. I got a 3 paragraph rejection last week because of the PO Box. In those paragraphs I was instructed to alter the existing contract to remove the PO Box and then re-upload the releases. Now I wonder how many MR's they have that are technically illegal because the photographer was asked to remove parts of contract after it was signed.

Anyway, if you call they will reset the rejected images so that you can re-upload the MR. Of course if you use deepmeta then your screwed because you have to find the originals, pull them into PS, merge them into one document, screw up your filing system to save them off and then go find the image in the rejected list and upload the new MR. Of course you have to repeat the steps for every image, because there is no such thing as a group upload.

510tan: Are you a hot girl now?  I read your post with a whole different song to it, til I saw it was you...:)

About Istock:   Theyre pretty Inconsistent, in their reviewings YES!   I get through half of the times 100%, and ALL OUT the rest.

Thats the way it is with humans.  Some are a pure pain in the ass, and some are supernice, like everybody here...

Hey, what can I say.  I have a lot of patience for the most part.  I think I was just having a bad day, cause I'm well over it now.  I have fixed the model release to their liking (or at least I hope so), and I will resubmit the ones I can. :)

Release standards do seem to be getting stricter. I had to go back and get the model to fill in her phone number, which she didn't fill in initially because she's changed it this week!
