Anyone else notice a crazy amount of views on new files? Had 3 pics accepted just 5 hours ago and they have 679, 414 and 292 views respectively. Some pics accepted last week still have only 40 - 50 views and others even less. Maybe some mistake?

I wonder how that affects the best match placement. Having a ton of views on a new file with no sales probably isn't favorable.

Maybe that's the point.

A bit of topic but about views and placement, someone was saying on this forum how editing your file for keywords or to add UBB tags effects placement negatively. It must be really serious - i edited one file for UBB tags as soon as it was accepted and views stopped completely after that. 2 - 3 weeks later and the file is stuck with only the initial views it had when i edited.

 ???

Can anyone confirm that editing keywords after being accepted leads to a worse ranking?

That's really nice then that inspectors tell us to remove "not directly related" keywords which would lead to less favorable placement.

Maybe, but the OP seemed concerned about crazy views, not best match.

Probably safe to assume that when this is fixed the views counter will be reset for the files affected.

I've never heard this and I've never experienced it.

It was discussed here - check from Reply #19 - posted by sharply_done

I used to edit for UBB all the time and never noticed how it effects views, until recently.

Thanks for posting about this.  I noticed the same.  Three files approved and within a few minutes they all had over 700 views each.

And yes, the main issue here is how that affects the best match placement (badly!).  Otherwise who would care?

My exact worry as well, that many views without sales can't be good for best match placing and i surely hope they'll get reset.
Another thing crossing my mind... the site's buggy as hell (earlier tonight buyers got another error msg for a while, views get screwed up, thumbnails don't show, stats don't update etc etc), who guarantees the downloads and commission counter works as it should? Maybe it's paranoia but all the above things don't really add to my confidence.

Yes lots of bugs these days. IS announced that the site change is imminent and it appears that they didn't learn to implement site changes correctly. It now seems that they keep messing with it over a longer period of time. This is quite upsetting.

I had quite a bunch of 503 or 505 errors with the little guy and his concrete parachute on it. They did well on that one because it makes me laugh every time I see that little poor fellow. My acceptance average is now at 0% and now the views-issue. Not to mention the problems with the uploads lately and the broken video processor for NTSC and PAL clips.

I can't believe I'm talking about the industry leader having such problems. Hopefully they CAN sort it out in a timely manner...  ???

Paranoia: Paranoia is an unfounded or exaggerated distrust of others, sometimes reaching delusional proportions.

I don't think you are being paranoid, or delusional. The database is being messed with. The best match algorithm does get changed. Things aren't working correctly. They are implementing a huge site change.

None of those are what I would call confidence-builders.

Very sorry to hear buyers are having a tough time getting on IS.

That might explain the long period of time yesterday that my $ counter didn't budge (which is a first for a non-holiday weekday in many years).

I think this view thing is an electronic disease that's going around. If so IS probably caught it from Veer. My Veer views have been WAY UP for a few months while 2010 sales for me remain at ZERO.

I hope there's a cure discovered before it spreads to SS, DT, FT, etc.

yea it sux... one of my files has over 2300 views yesterday. does anyone know if it is still happening to their newly accepted files? im waiting on uploading at the min since it has a very negative impact on best match placement with that many views and no downloads. i almost feel like canceling what i uploaded and re uploading those.

Relax already. This problem started for me on June 14th or so. IS said they were working on it. I take them at their word.

I won't worry too much about it. It happens to everyone. One of my new image has 1200 views. So what, it affects everyone so your best match will not be compromised.

It seams that Chuch Norris somehow visited iStock and with his first view he make XXX views of our images just in first look...  ;D

Exactly.  Of course they instantly locked the thread, and 2 months later the problem continues.

I feel that Chuchy is still buried in my "huge" port. Even he cant get out of there in few nano seconds which for us mortals last few months (and iStock too).
I think Chuch and iStock are in conspiracy contact all the time, normally without me in they new marketing campaign  ;D

It is lat say fixed for new uploaded files but I was talking about files which are affected with that.
That is not fixed.
I complain to them thru mail and they just answer me after 2 weeks that they perceive that problem but without any word that they will solve it for affected files.
I think I will upload this files like as new ones without waiting they nebulous explanation and ignorance...
