Title: Downloads
Post by: ShadySue on October 23, 2025, 00:28
Can I just check: is everyone getting huge numbers of downloads from iS this week?
Relative to my normal average, I had about 7x - 8x more yesterday and today it's about 12x my usual.
No doubt still small cheddar compared to others, but relatively for me that's huge.

Yes, I'm seeing an uptick as well. Not as much as you but definitely more then the last couple of weeks.

I can't see any increase. On the contrary. My downloads are below average.

Yes, PA.
Premium Access AFAIK is where the buyer can access all of Getty and all of iStock with one account.
I'm guessing that these bulk sales are the 75c gross ones which were suspected to be for AI training (eye recognition) for cameras. I don't know if that's been confirmed (Sony in particular was mentioned) or where the theory came from. Certainly, there were smaller tranches of these before, I had many sales in a day of sea mammals, another time it was all birds, and another time all jaguars. However, this month I had an earlier day with a much larger than usual batch of sales of random buildings, Tuesday's sales were an almost equal split of buildings and wildlife, and yesterday's were almost all wildlife, with some succulents. There will be some 'regular' sales in there too, but Getty's salespeople seem to be doing a great job moving buyers into PA, so I don't get much else nowadays.
Anyway, another 30 'increments' came in as I slept and 12 in the past c45 mins.

It's been a big increase for me too, going from an average of 10 or less to 35 this month. I'd considered a change in the algorithm because the first year I started (2023) the downloads were very high and I had very few photos. Now, with many more photos, the downloads are very low, but this month they've increased.

I won't say huge, but unusual that three of the same flower and bug shots, suddenly got a DL on the same day. I guess I find out, how much, next month.

i also saw this increase last week, back to normal now.  i thought it may be real downloads because it was a few categories of images with clear similarities.  ai training makes sense, going to assume very low returns.  hopefully better than july when they just pretended we had a lot of sales and paid us nothing.  never fixed the "glitch" either.
