It says the glitch monsters are in the internety room; that's a crashy-washy.

It is __ and a major fucky-wucky too.

LOL

Much better.

Not for long. The original message is back now.

Well, I think istock has the last laugh...look at all the contributors who are STILL there, after YEARS of this bull$hit, and the noobs still signing up, and the contributors still choosing exclusivity.   ::)

Well, now they're totally down, a 503 error from a server.   Time to call the Coast Guard to look for survivors.

They've changed it now to something marginally less toe-curling.

"Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Nope, I had that, but then it went back to the unprofessional note from iStock. I think the Service Temporarily Unavailable message came from my iSP or the browser or something.

hillarious. Newbies desperate to get enough sales to go exclusive are being held back.

"The lack of graphics on the 503 page is being caused by the other issues we're having right now. Working as fast as we can to get back up."

You couldn't make this stuff up.

Thank you, IS...I didn't get enough coal in my stocking last year.

That is, without a doubt, the absolute worst error page I've ever seen.  I seriously thought this was a joke by someone, or a hack, and had to check here to make sure.

Hands up anybody who loves it.

PS: Just realised - if they've started work writing new error messages it means they don't expect to have the site back up any time soon.

Anyone with the sense of humour of a second grader on red cordial. Maybe.
(I'm Susan1961 on twitter)

After their total inability to get their database working, this error message really made me see red.

Great, now they're sending people to Thinkstock on their Twitter feed

As if you couldn't link from the 503 page to a logo stored on a site that's actually working. Like Flikr or something.

The page doesn't even have "iStockphoto" as a text heading. Truly beggars belief.

Seems they've changed it to

Thanks for visiting the 1979 version iStockphoto. Were working to get the site back to the future as quickly as we can. In the meantime, check out the coupon code below and be sure to come back soon.

I bet they regret giving the kid from the mailroom a 50 cent raise and promotion to IT so they save a couple bucks by letting the trained programmers go.

Haha!  They changed the message after numerous complaints about how crappy the error page looks.

This is a joke.

I truly can't believe my eyes.

Am I living in some parallel dimension now? Did I walk onto the set of Idiocracy?

They're offering clients 10% off their next purchase. They should give contributors some sort of retribution for the earnings we lose while the site is down, perhaps an increase of 10% royalty rate for a day...This once again shows their priority is the people who give them the money, not the ones that make them the money.

Side note...right before I refreshed the page to see if it was working yet, I was reading in the Los Angeles Times that one of the DeLoreans from "Back to the Future III" is on the auction block.

W.T.F. ??? and whatever letters stand for W.T.F. in all the other languages they have on that idiotic page.

Maybe the screen should say,
"Will the last person to leave iStock please turn out the Lobo."
signed,
Peebert

Seriously, they could send users over to Stockxpert, it still seems to be working.

The little joke's still on in the German version: Normalerweise arbeitet das Pannenmonster im abgedunkelten Internet-Raum still vor sich hin.

Oddly, the French and Spanish messages have been straightforward and unsophomoric in both versions. Perhaps they employ only English and German humorists.

With the version of the text that said it was 1979 again in English, we had what appears to be the original monster stuff in German.  In French, in both cases, completely different text.

Google translate makes this of the French section: "t seems that we meet at this time a temporary problem, but we work hard to resolve it quickly. To wait, we want to offer you 10% off your next purchase of 50 or more credits, using the Coupon Code below." No 1979 and no bats in the belfry. Do they think the humor (and I use that word loosely) in English won't play well in France?

I detect a whiff of burning hair...

I think they were hacked (by a pissed off contributor with 15% commission?), messages are too creative for IS;-)
