Title: Has the new best match Algorithm kicked in?
Post by: PeterChigmaroff on January 28, 2009, 10:34
It's the 28th. Has the new algorithm kicked in? Was it supposed to happen in January?

My port sort-order by best match still looks the same with minor movements as images sell. I quite like this best match version.

I think its just starting too. Sales are slowly increasing and the best match makes small changes all the time. It will probably kick in properly in Feb. These things take time

I am pretty sure Mr K.Thompson will make a post when the new best match  is active.Just as night follows day so there will also be a thread a couple of days later from contributors who have less sales  because of it or so they might think!
Totally wierd sales pattern at istockphoto for me at the moment.Nine sales monday,11 sales  yesterday and only one so far today..yikes.

Is it the 28th they start to "turn the dial slowly" of this new tragedic best match. Haha what a coincidence. I saw no 28th today on the last download sheet

IS has been all over the place for me - some good days, but overall still down. Hopefully something will change soon - the sales levels from September are becoming a distant memory...

I had a real terrible day at IS yesterday, so I'm guessing "yes" :(

The best I can tell, something happened on or around January 20th... my little old portfolio is on fire! It not just one or two images, but stuff from all over my portfolio. I've had three images downloaded this week that have been sitting out there for 2+ years with no downloads. I was seriously thinking about stopping my uploads to IS just a couple of weeks ago and concentrating on SS and DT and Alamy.

Taking into account my sales and various comment from contributors as well as some announcement from IS admin, it seems quite clear to me that best match 2.0 is already here since almost the beginning of this month, but not fully enabled: this is an ongoing process which will last a few weeks to be fully implemented I guess.

Whatever is going on at IS it looks good from my angle. I've had my BME there since joining 2 years ago . . .

Suits me too __ at last it looks like the good part of my port is actually visible. Keep those sales a'coming. Ker-ching!

While the sort may not be including the relevancy factor, the "more like this" links certainly are, and are returning great results.
