Greetings, I shoot mostly editorial photos & have had an Istock account since '11. Mostly it was dormant, earning little while I focused on Shutterstock, Getty & Corbis. Then, last year I started uploading pix from the campaigns: Trump, Clinton, Sanders, etc., & Istock sales awoke to the point where I was earning monthly payouts with >500 images total. Not bad. Of course the issue was getting shots past them properly credentialed, so I scanned the credential for a particular event & included it in the model release upload. That worked fine.

Until last month they started getting rejected for "protected area" etc in spite of having been submitted with credential. I contacted support, & nearly one month later they replied that credentials must have contributor's name on them.

Anyone who shoots events, pressers, etc., knows that the credentials are not individualized. At most one might list the organization one is shooting for, but not the photographer. Some super organized events, e.g. DNC/RNC, use credentials with names that don't get you into anything without an accompanying underlay.

Basically Istock doesn't know what they're talking about regarding editorial/news, obviously don't care & it's kind of a pity....

I had this issue with them way back in January.   I eventually gave up and stopped uploading newsworthy editorial.  It is obviously not their specialty and it's not a good use of my time to fight my way through their credentialing/release requirements.  I'd rather go out and shoot some more for agencies that "get it."
