Title: September results are in - how did you do?
Post by: yuriy on October 17, 2024, 16:55
I did OK.  Better than the last 2 months by about 15% but still not as good as the 2 months before that where I had 1 or 2 huge sales.  I had 2 decent sales around $10 this month but its so discouraging to see the pile of $0.02 and $0.03 sales.  I had 2 video sales for 3c each, makes me want to stop contributing video to istock (except there were also a few at around $3 as well).

I'm having a hard time downloading the proper text document. Anyone else experiencing this issue too?

Until I get that downloaded and imported into deepmeta, I'm not really sure how I did. Although the total royalties are available, I can't seem to find how many downloads there were.

Looks like I jumped the gun on downloading the text document. Should have waited another 20 minutes.

So, royalties were down 7% and number of sales were down 14%.

In fact, daily sales throughout all of October have been down for me.

Someone in Germany paid US$140 (my cut was US$20) for a coloured pencil drawing done 15 years ago by my daughter when she was 5. Had a few other higher priced stills too, so it was a good month for stills. Not great for video through, with low RPD. I hate the way iStock/Getty undervalues video.

This type of report strengthens my reluctance to upload videos on iStock 8)

September was good for me, this year is way better than last year but have been more consistent in uploading. This week I have sold more than I usually do in a month so looking up for me!

Downloads were okay – average. RPD was miserable.

Consistent for IS.  :)

Magic, a background concept image, that I uploaded years ago, somehow, got a $9 commission. I wonder what the use is? Lifetime sales since 2016 = 1  ;D

Better than expected, and much better than Shutterstock (which isn't hard to achieve).

In my case my revenue is falling like a rock in Getty (exclusive photographer) and growing more and more as a video independent artist in Adobe. P5 is also looking much better since the new price arrangements.

Again, a month rescued by one 'jackpot' sale. I really rely on these nowadays, otherwise my rpd would be grim.

One thing I notice is consistent is that I have far fewer US sales (I have almost nothing 'directly' relevant to that market) than from eg. the UK (where I'm based), but the US sales have a much higher average rpd.

i also noticed this... almost all the good sales come from the US.  occasionally some european sales are for decent money but generally the sales outside the US amount to very little for me.
