I've got this:

URGENT: W8-BEN Form Required for Continued Royalty Payments

Dear Contributor,

As part of our ongoing compliance with U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations, we require that you update your tax documentation and provide supporting evidence of your non‑U.S. status.

Our records indicate that the W‑8BEN or W‑8BEN‑E form you previously submitted is either incomplete or requires further substantiation.

In the next 24 hours you will receive an email from [email protected] with instructions on resubmitting the form so that we can continue processing payments to you and apply the correct withholding tax rate.

This is an important request, so please add [email protected] to your safe sender list now. If you do not receive the email within 24 hours, please check your junk or spam folder. If you are certain you have not received it after 24 hours, please contact us at: [email protected].

The next email we send will be detailed in order to comply with U.S. IRS regulations. Please read the email and the FAQs very carefully before you resubmit the forms.

If you have any questions after you receive the next email, we will support you via this special, dedicated email address: [email protected] (please do not open a support ticket).

Many thanks in advance,

Latest tax form was submitted and approved in December 2024, on web it says form is OK and valid till the end of 2027.

Did anyone else get the same communication. It looks half-legit / half-suspicious.

Same here. I asked them to provide my last tax form and to specify the date of onboarding. How can I claim something hasnt changed for the period (which period?!) compared to something they are not providing?!

If you log in to the Getty contributor forum you'll see a thread about this. KelvinJay confirmed that it is a legit email from Getty and that the follow up email should be out by the end of the day Sept 30.

You might do better to follow the discussion there - Getty's contributor liaison (Kelvin) doesn't post here
