From 3 million to 4 million in just 7 months. I'm daily amazed that anyone can find my images in that huge of a collection.

Yeah, I can't wait to see the "random" image that hits 4 million

Me also. Something must be done shortly. Not today but maybe in 1 or 2 years when IS will hit 7 or 8 millions. Like starting to delete some old crappy images with zero download. Even if there's some of mine.

It explains why a lot of people apparently can't find mine.  :)

Sometimes *I* can't find my own images, at least not in the first few pages.  :-\

alamy have 14 million images and sales are still good there.  The micros are still relatively small.  They have far too many similar images of smiling business people and jumping goldfish but there are still gaps that need to be filled.  It is nice when I do a search and only my photo is available.

Didn't they start doing that, I remember an announcment about it? Besides SS collection is growing even faster, that one scares me more since it's my best earner.

Yes, they did. In addition to regular sweeps into the Dollar Bin, they did a big pruning recently of inactive accounts. Here is the announcement:

I wonder how many of the 4 million approved are still live on the site. I know a bunch have been deactivated over the years.

They only deleted the ones from inactive users as I read. There's still a huge amount of junk sometimes. Just take a look at the back of the best match and even sometimes in the top 100 pages

Oh, no doubt! There is a ton of junk still on the site. I think there should be a dollar bin nomination wiki in addition to a keyword wiki. :D (Before everyone freaks out and tells me what a horrible idea that is... it's a JOKE)

Thank goodness we are at least allowed to put 10 of our own in there at a time. It's a little less traumatic than deactivating a file, and sometimes just being moved there suddenly makes the file visible and loved.

Correct me if I am wrong, but as I understand it only the exclusives can submit images to the dollar bin.  Non-exclusive images have to be put in there by an admin, right?

I have spoken about reducing the istock library a number of times. There is to many files in the library that are not stock.
No more PETS,WALLS,FLOWERS,SKY,FRUIT,LANDSCAPES would be a good start i would even venture to say close all contributing for 6 months.
announcement.....we will not be accepted any more images from our contributors in the next 6 months thank you for your understanding....
