I started uploading to Zoonar last December and had each month a small increase of sales. Most of my sales came through the Polylooks connection. Yes the promo by Depositphoto was better, but what is after the promo. So far sales are better by Zoonar for me. And sales are that count in the long term.

When you say "sales are better by Zoonar" that's a bit disturbing as, in your previous posts detailing your stock income, you have them listed at 0% contribution. How much lower than 0% can Polylooks be?
3 Euro with "Thousands" of Photos? For that your Photos must be very bad !Are you expecting more from a new agency with 100 buyers browsing 500 000 images or more. That's what people are reporting on those hundreds of new agency threads. I still wonder how much I get for a sale from this agency, I didn't read it ?
I'm willing to support any agency that offer 50%+ commissions for non-exclusives, even if sales are non-existing.
Do you take vectors or just rasters?
I went ahead and registered and was reading the Photographer Agreement and the following bothers me.......are you giving away your copyright or is it the translation from German.......and what is " droite de suite"
It`s the same like in every other agency. You don`t gives your copyright away, you just gives us photos for selling. We are not interested to hose photographers, zoonar is a fair agency. In that case you should adapt the English terms on site. Scripta Manent, Verba Volant. I will register anyways, since the original English phrasing apparently is a mistake.
Important: We are specially interested in photographers with big portfolios. If you have +5000 photos please write to [email protected]. We will make an offer how you can submit these photos very fast and earn up to 750,00 Euro for full uploading ! We offer the same for photographers with +1000 photos...
Why that ?
Everyone can upload photos at every time. And everyone get up to 500-1000 Photos Submitting Rate per day if the quality is good enough. No one get more than 1000 photos a day so there is a fair chance for everyone.
But we are special interested at microstock-pros. The often have more than 1000-5000 Photos in their portfolio. And for them our offer is more attractive i think. If you have 1000 photos you can earn 150 Euro, if you have 5000 photos you can earn 750 Euro. More photos more money. That`s why i`m think that photographers with large portfolios are more interested to our offer. These means not, that photographers with a small portfolio cannot upload photos and earn the welcome gift.
So actually only about 40 photographers will profit from the offer.?No, everybody. But the preferential treatment is for 39 photographers and, you. ;-)

We answer to all mails, please take a look in your Spam-Folder.Nothing in my spam folder and I did get a registration email from you. Also, when I just tried to upload, it tells me I am not a registered photographer. I used my user name "sharpshot" and site password. Am I registered as a photographer?
They also have a referral program. Maybe this is cheeky, but here is mine!I don't care about your hagiographic referral link and whether or not you started uploading. I want an answer on the copyright transfer issue.
Michael said Zoonar operates just like any other microstock RF agency. That should be fine, right?Sure that should be fine. ;D
Hey, I am happy to inform you that my first images got accepted by Polylooks and I even got the payments for those credited to my Zoonar account - unfortunately the acceptance ratio was not ideal:
I started uploading the images to Zoonar on Wednesday and applied for approval of the accepted ones on Polylooks this morning (CET).
The images carried an "applying for Polylooks" icon in the images managing section of Zoonar.
Now when I just checked my Zoonar account, I saw that some of them were accepted by Polylooks, the photos now carry either an "accepted" or "rejected by Polylooks" icon - having said that I need to mention that the approval rate is not that excessive - I am rather new in microstock with only a limited portfolio but the approval rate of Zoonar was much lower as with DepositPhotos for example and out of those Polylooks again only accepted about 70% (although the initial announcement to me sounded like almost all photos accepted by Zoonar will make it to Polylooks) so that my ROI is much worse as with the same images on DepositPhotos unfortunately, about 40%!
Hope others out there are performing better!

Sorry i overlookes your question, we have many to do now... My opinion for this is: It doesn`t help you when agencys took photos with mistakes. If costumers buy thoose pictures they will be unhappy and never come back. It`s better for you when stock agencys took a closer look to your photos. The mistakes they are mostly causes deletions are: artefacts in blue skys, objective spots, unscharpness or unattractive photo design.
I just wanted to state that acceptance ratios with Zoonar/Polylooks MIGHT be rather small - a fact that photographers might take into account when deciding whether it is worth to upload to these sites.
Exactly... :-\
Patrick.
We have three price levels like the global photo market have. Premium is macrostock (like alamy), normal is midstock (like many midprice agencys) and "discount " is our microstock area. We did this because we had the idea that costumers dont like "agency hopping". They can compare qualities and prices in one agency direct and make a mixed price calculation. That sounds like a very sensitive approach. So what do you expect of 'premium'? That it is exclusive on your site, or can it also be on Alamy? As I understand, you don't want images already on microstock as 'premium'. What kind of images are you expecting there?
I came from the macro market, and also have 50k photos at alamy, since 7-8 years.Do you ever sleep? :P
Not only did these people send me an email (hello, exclusive!) they just spammed my blog comments. Thanks so much!Did they? Oh my. There should be a law against harassing iStock exclusives. :P
For good incomes please use Polylooks AND Picturemaxx/APIS for your photos, because 90% of all magazin editors buy photos over the picturemaxx network.
I`m no dreamer. We never will reach incomes like istock, shutterstock or other from the big 5. But i`m sure that the combination of polylooks, zoonar and picturemaxx will generate enough money so thats worthwhile to put photos to us. And we will search some more partners for you. The submitting process is easy and fast. We hope to offer 1-2 more partners so it will be surely effectiv to use zoonar as additional stock when you get "4 or 5 one one strike".
Zoonar will make a complete site relaunch in mai/juni 2010. After that we start a marceting campaign. I`m sure that our good expansion rates will go on. But they will not reach the big 5.
That`s a realistic view i think.
That`s ok for the moment. Zoonar or later you will surely come to us :)
The submitting process is easy and fast. This is a bit of an overstatement. In general the workflow is quite slow (but perhaps it's me).

- Compared to modern Flash modules on microstock sites and The3Ds, the Flash upload is archaic, but it works. I had to add my files one by one to the window.
- After upload, the images vanish in the hayes and you can only access them again after approval. Approval is fast though. The IPTC was accepted well (description, keywords), except title, so I had to copy/paste that in one by one manually. It's no issue since I use a non-standard IPTC field for model info, and they prefer this field over "object name" for title.
- The options are a bit unclear: RM/RF is obvious, but what means discount, normal and premium pricing?
- Regularly, when managing the images, you get kicked out of the secure area and you have to enter your usr/pwd again.
- Even if you opt in all the partner programs in your profile, it seems that you have to set this manually again on all images after accepting.
- Would they accept editorial? It seems you can upload and tick "no release". (Magazines in general don't care that much about released or not.)
To whom it concerns: 50% acceptance, all overwhites of a business girl and 1 girl bikini shot. Male overwhite and female engineer in construction context + objects were rejected (they weren't that good though). One accepted image didn't show up. No remarks about the selection since they know their market of course better than we. I didn't try landscapes/landmarks yet. Most rejects were LCV for their audience. Too early to say anything based on just 10 uploads.
Recommended.
Try downloading and using their Zoonar Media Manager...that makes it a lot easier.I did. Compared to Fotolia flash uploader for instance, Java looks very old-style, especially its file browser without thumbs and one by one. Or perhaps I'm missing something...

It is slow if you add file by file. But you can add entire folders and then it's fast to do.Thanks. Yes I made a temp folder with a copy of the uploads and that is a nice workaround. Whatever works...
It's a bit annoying to me that for adding license, release info etc I need to do it one by one and can't to altogether - but again as I can do it with a large group of uploaded pics I don't feel it's a big deal...I guess you just have to click "has release", since I found no place to upload the release itself.
You have two alternatives:Thanx for the info. So obviously, for non-exclusive RF (that is also on microstock sites), you have to enable Polylooks & APIS/Picturemaxx.
Polylooks & APIS/Picturemaxx
or
Fotofinder & APIS/Picturemaxx
Polylooks is a traditional micro sites where the images are RF where as Fotofinder is a macro site.
As to Editorial images, you have to set the release to “is not available”

Another point is the "free German translation" of the keywords. How long does it take? Can we check it somewhere?
Hi were can I see the rejected ones?
I don't know if the upload process was correct.
I uploaded 50 but forgot to look if the upload process was ok/finished and now 2 are online.....
Yes only 2, so were are the rest of my images are the gone or all rejected?
For the second batch I uploaded also 50 but only 26 are under review right now....where is the rest (24 images) ?

Yes, this is one frustrating issue that I have with this site!
Yesterday, I uploaded 158 images, however, only 122 showed up in the 'Under Review' queue.
It really frustrates me that I'm unable to view which of my images are in the 'Under Review' queue. Obviously, for some reason, 36 of my image uploaded images 'went missing', and because of the uploading process, I'm unable to ascertain which of the images 'went missing'.

Anyone else noticed that Polylooks reviews takes much longer than usual? About a week I would say.
hi i have some questions..It was mentioned in this thread a couple of pages ago. For photos represented in other microstocks we are asked to use "Discount" price. Normal is for midstock and premium is for traditional macro stock - but either of these 2 aren't expected to be set for photos that can be found on cheaper microstock.
like we have to choose between price, DISCOUNT, NORMAL, PREMIUM.. what should we choose? zoonar is more a midstock than microstock? shall we put a 'better' price?
So, for every batch of 50 images I need about 3 minutes to submit them to Polylooks and Picturemaxx, and to select if they need model release or not.The problem is not so much the Java upload module is from the last ice age (why don't they use the Aurigma one?) but that I get auto-logged off every 3 images. Since I have to copy/paste title and captioinn to each and every image, that's just too much for an unproven site. It will probably be a cookie problem that doesn't occur in IE, but I use Firefox.
