Since we talked about Leonard Cohen in
another thread going a bit off-topic, I'll start a new thread here. Here people can post pictures and comments about the current worldwide tour. I'll start with mine.

I've been to 2 Cohen concerts about 30 years apart - both absolutely outstanding!!

Ok, reduced it (but just a bit).

And his last album is absolutely outstanding as well. Not many artists are still able to publish relevant new material after 45 years.

Mega. I'm going to the Paris concert at the end of September. Buzz on the five Ghent concerts from the forum has been excellent. Some songs already on YouTube (this seems to be perfectly above board, before anyone shouts!)
Can't wait!

I'm back from the Wembley Arena concert (second day) and it was absolutely great! Not that I had any doubt. The man really seems to enjoy what he's doing.

Here's a few pics I did with a mobile phone. Didn't even try to enter with a reflex, as they were searching bags.

:-) :-)

Strange, there are tons of photos and videos from the other concerts being referenced from the official fan club. I tried with my G9 at Belfast in '09, but my results were awful. The very drunk woman next to me with some tiny p&s 'seemed' to be doing better, but what you see on the camera doesn't always equate to what you see on the computer screen.

Trying to decide whether to get out of town and do some shooting in France or go to the fan 'meets' before the concerts.

Glad you enjoyed it. Isn't it great that at last he's shaken off the Black Dog and the fear of performing.  :D

Indeed there were some people with professional cameras inside. Not sure if they sneaked in or were authorised. Maybe I'm too keen to follow rules on ticket ("Unless otherwise stated, professional type cameras (with large or detachable lenses), camcorders, tripods, and sound recording equipment are not permitted. Such items may be confiscated") but after having camera confiscated at an Einstuerzende Neubauten concert in Berlin (luckily put in a proper cloackroom) and a few more times in my home town (Turin), I am a bit afraid.

P&S and mobiles are great at making things look better than they are on their little bright glossy screen.

Well, if rumours about him starting to tour partly due to financial problems are true, then it's a blessing in disguise.

I spoke with a few old timers at the concert: a group of hippies following him since the days of the Isle of Wight; and a mom who had to leave the venue before the encores to meet her baby. Very enjoyable conversations. Whatever you decide to do, have fun in Paris!

And man does he do encores (and encores and encores)  :)

In contrast, saw Dylan a few years ago and he didn't say a word, did the prescribed set and left..

Any chance that you could actually state what this discussion is about in the thread title? That's why we have titles. It stops everyone wasting their time having to click to find out it's just Cohen fan club nonsense.

I was expecting this comment actually, now that someone said it I can change the title :)

"Anyhow" is the title of a song on the last Leonard Cohen album. Only hardcore fans could understand the title... it's a bit like the old joke "there are only 10 kinds of people: those who can understand binary and those who don't).

Anyhow, this is "off-topic", so anything goes, no? Including our fan club nonsense.

I've still got my Beautiful Losers tee, ditto.  :D

I'm posting here not to start another music "fan-club" thread...

Did anyone attend the Led Zeppelin Celebration Day yesterday in cinemas across the world?

Great concert, but two things left me undecided about the movie:

1. I found the surround audio mix a bit annoying; I'm still convinced that good old stereo is better than 5.1 for music; what's the need of hearing audience screaming and clapping hands on my side? And even worse, echoes and excessive panning.
After all, we hear the band in front of us at a real concert, not around us.
Some find surround involving, I find it fake.

2. (Over)use of what seems like 8 mm film footage inserts; it was fine in their old footage from the 70s but now, in an high-definition video, looks weird.

Opinions?
