and they can track where you walk in the store via your cellphone!

Apple's iOS 8 which is about to be officially released randomizes MAC address whilst the device is scanning for wifi networks. This is about protecting users from being tracked for marketing purposes in public.

iOS 8 to stymie trackers and marketers with MAC address randomization

People often complain that Apple devices are more expensive than competing products. Part of that is about their business model not being primarily built around advertising and marketing. Apple customers are the people who buy the devices. Some other products are more about gathering data which can be sold for marketing use.

It was reported that Angry Birds and Brightest Flashlight, both install tracking software that monitors your travel. And it's in the license for the FREE app. I'm sure there are others.

You know what they say ... 'If You're Not Paying, You're The Product'

And the only way to not be tracked or listened to if you have a cell phone of any type is to remove the battery and the SIM card.

This too has been known about and going on for years  and years.

And the SIM card? What. Is the SIM card RFID also?

Just for the additional on that, RFID has a very short range, maybe five feet optimal. Which would be claimed as ten feet, because that's a radius not a distance. Kind of like measuring a screen on the diagonal to make it sound bigger.  :)

Let me make this clear. If you pull the battery, there's nothing to track. You don't need to remove the SIM card as well.

I stopped wearing a wrist watch sometime in the 70s. I kept breaking them. Last one destroyed on my forehead + six stitches, diving into a lake. Since then pocket watch or just use my inner time. There are also clocks in devices, cars, on walls and pretty much everywhere, except Las Vegas.  ;)

Buck Rodgers, Dick Tracy, whatever. It's a nice expensive  iToy.

Apple is a remarkable dog and pony show.  The watch is ugly and unnecessary.  The computers are great and for good reason.
From the ground up they were build with users in mind and particularly in our demanding world, they out did PCs by miles.  But that's simply not the case with phones or this ridiculous watch.  I have a Samsung phone for years and couldn't be happier.  But to each his own.  If you to impress yourself, go ahead.  If not, THINK DIFFERENT.
