Title: Bragging rights
Post by: Mellimage on September 17, 2011, 16:31
I know we have a tearsheet thread here in case we find some of our works printed. But this would no fit there. I just was selected to win one of Nicole S. Youngs books on food photography from her book give away. I participated in both parts: her blog one (theme sweet) and the Google + one (theme spicy). My entry was one of two winning entries  (http://nicolesyblog.com/2011/09/17/winners-of-the-food-photography-book-giveaway/)on her blog.

This is the winning entry: http://mellimage.blogspot.com/2011/09/food-mascarpone-cream-with-strawberries.html (http://mellimage.blogspot.com/2011/09/food-mascarpone-cream-with-strawberries.html)

Do you have some accomplishments to "brag about"?

Recipe looks delicious, and your photo of the Marscapone Cream with Strawberries is beautiful!  Not surprised it won you some recognition.  Congratulations!  And thanks for sharing the recipe.  I may give it a shot if I feel creative :)

Thanks, Lisa. It was really delicious. I often make it with a raspberry covering (pureed and put through a sieve) instead of strawberries, but I wanted to enjoy the last strawberries of the season this way.

Congratulations! The book looks great too __ I might have to fork out for my own copy.

Once I receive the book I plan to do a review of it on it and post it on my blog. Maybe that helps you in the decision making. :)

I received the book and read it, it is good, and a review will be forthcoming.
Meanwhile I got something else to brag about, though it has nothing to do with photography: I finished writing my own book aka doctoral dissertation and just successfully defended it. You could, if you wanted to, call me Dr. Melli now. ;) ;)

Double nice or is it triple, because I liked the original post and the desert photos. Plus those Piled Higher and Deeper degrees are very hard work and expensive. Wonderful!

Congratulations Dr Melli!

Does this mean you now have lots more free time?

Thanks everyone - I may have a bit more free time (specifically for digging through my backlog of photos and also shooting more) after the submission deadline next Friday - in between I still got to do some inter-continental travel (currently writing from the US) and some editing on the book.

Thank you all, I am quite relieved it went so well.
Being done with that also means I can soon write that review of Nicole's book.

While not as impressive as Dr. Mellimage, I did finally make it to the .38 club at SS (well, I made enough earnings, I haven't actually gotten any .38 yet).

A nice Milestone, Tom! Congrats. Hope you get a lot out of it now in the strong season of the year.

Well today is about 15% compared to the last few days, but I hope that is just normal ebb and flow. At least they were .38 sales.
