Dollar was pretty high lately and that meant a nice boost in earnings, but now it's falling like a rock. It started falling when the bailout for the auto industry failed:

Here's an article from Bloomberg predicting it will continue to fall:

We might see some increses in equipment prices at the beginning of the next year due to the strong Yen.

The pound is still weak, Gordon Brown is doing something right :)

I don't think we will see camera prices go up because people wont be able to afford to buy them in a recession.

I also check the dollar value daily. I hope it wont go back to where it came from.
Lately I have some very very good prices on lenses from the uk in ebay. 30% cheaper than in Germany. I have my eyes on a 135L.(~700 Euro in the UK, 1000 Euro in Germany) So far of what I have read I do not need to pay taxes when delivered to Germany from the Uk. But I guess I have to do some more research..

I also used the oportunity and bought some 4GB OCZ DDR2-1066 RAM from ebay (that will work perfectly with my new Intel Core2Quad Q6600 which I also got from ebay few days ago :D), and Nike shoes (size US16 EU 51, because I cant find my size in local stores, ebay is my best friend when it comes to shoes purchase ) :D

swimmer Ian thorpe apparently has size 17

just googled it (because its late, i'm bored and had a lot to drink :) )
The largest feet ever measured were the feet of Robert Pershing Wadlow, of Alton Illinois, whose shoe size is 37AA (47 cm, 18 in long)

Well the dollar has been on a huge run up since August. It should be pulling back. Look at the 5 year chart.

197 cm tall. I really do wear size 51 (US16, UK15, 34 centimeters :D). It was real problem for me to find footwear in my local stores, until I discovered ebay! :D

Basketball players wear even larger, 53, 54... (US 18, 19...). So I am a small fish....  ;D And yes, I love swimming, but I dont do it professionaly  ;D

Pound is dropping rapidly, especially compared to usd. Will be interesting to see how Obama's speech will influence the rates:

Lucky me: the Canadian dollar is doing the opposite of the Euro!

I don't know where some people get their info but the dollar had its low against the euro (up to 1.55) till last July. Then it came down steadily, till now, with some smaller rebounds now and then.

180-day graph here

At the moment you get 1.32$ for a euro, and 2 weeks ago, that was 1.42$
That's 0.76 $ for 1 Euro if you invert the ratio.

Patrick and Whitechild, beware that credit and debet (like Maestro) card companies and Paypal (and most banks) use a very unfavorable exchange rate. The only way to avoid this is to use Paypal to order equipment in the dollar-zone, and let it ship.
