I bought a new camera and put my trusty old Nikon D50 up on Ebay. Somebody won it and then shortly afterward the entire auction just disappeared.

I got an email that said "The results of the following listing(s) have been cancelled due to bidding activity that took place without the account owner's authorization:"

So apparantly the winning bidder claimed they didn't place the bid. Like someone hijacked their account. I wonder if this is real or they changed their mind and wanted to get out of buying the camera. I've had a few other problems with BS buyers and have had to relist.

This really pissed me off. Anybody ever have this happen?

Paul

I tried to sell a few things there a while ago, but had some really bad experiences as a seller (mostly with non-payers), so I don't sell anymore.  However, as a buyer my experience has been good.  But I only buy from people with at least 99% positive feedback.  A lot of good photo equipment can be had at decent prices if you know how to search.

Ebay  usually is a  great place to buy or sell but we have to be really careful about it.
Once a friend of mine wanted to sell his canon 30D and he was pretty new to Ebay .someone  bid the item and won after that he receives a payment confirmation e-mail ,which later turns out to be fake, but unfortunately he had already shipped the camera.
what  is worse not only he lost his  camera also ebay tried to charge him for the auction lnstead of  assisting him on the matter.

too bad experience.

I've both bought and sold stuff on ebay and I've never had a bad experience.

When I lived in the USA I used eBay quite a lot - I did more selling than buying. I only had one bad experience in several hundred transactions, when the seller claimed to have shipped the item within a few days of being paid, when he actually waited 5.1/2 weeks before doing so.
