 Hi All,

Thought you might enjoy this article that speaks of how much money we are making for blogs and social media companies. I found it an interesting perspective hope you do as well. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/14/business/media/14carr.html?_r=1&ref=todayspaper

Cheers,
Jonathan

J,

Very interesting indeed. I read the Huffington Post occasionally and find it incredible it could be worth 315 million. I mean really, where is the value? So much of it is just rip offs from here and there. Tons of images downloaded for free off of Flickr.

Just another reason that I don't have a Facebook or Twitter account. Well, I guess being anti-social probably has something to do with it, too...

Interesting post! The comparison with Tom Sawyer painting a fence is cute but not quite precise. Bloggers don't need convincing to do their writing - they never considered it a chore or work but an opportunity to express themselves and connect with others. For professional journalist writing is work, for a blogger it's fun. From that point of view blog and social sites provide fun for free - and why shouldn't they benefit from it?

I have a facebook and twitter account to act as a placeholder for my name. Nothing interesting gets posted there.

It's not anti-social to not work for free and help make someone else rich on our backs.
