What does this mean, when does it end? Pride month and another letter added. LGBTQIA I get the first 4 but then things start to get lost. Is Q for questionable, I for I don't know.

Jif and Gif are the same because the person who named it says so. The End  8)

I had to look this up:  lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (or questioning), intersex, and asexual (or allies)

By the way the lesbians I know (majority not 100% of them) call them self Dykes and the Gay men I know say they are Queers.

I think the Q in the alphabet soup was originally to represent Questionable or Questioning? Why would Gay be there twice? But being none of the above and not politically correct or in tune, what would I know?

I thought as a tag to irrelevant off topic I'd add that Avocados are now considered unsustainable:
"The increasing demand for this tasty fruit in America is not sustainable. As a result of the demand from the US for avocados, farmers in Mexico are influenced to increase the size of their farms, which is now leading to environmental issues including deforestation and increased greenhouse gas emissions." Ah yes, another cause of global warming = Avocados.

I hope the woke millennials get a grasp on this, so I can get mine again for salads without the inflated prices.  ;)

Nope, not good enough! Unless of course he pronounces graphic as jraphic then Im afraid the hard gr rule applies to the acronym as well. On the other hand I pronounce jiffy as heefy in honour of my adopted second home. Thats within the rules.

i was developing multiplayer online games in the late 80s for Compuserve when GIFs were introduced and no one there used the hard g

should we also change general, genus, generic, genital, geometry, geology & dozens more?

Lol, gigabyte, giggle, girth, gadfly, garbage, garbanzo, gunsmith, and gnat. I know the g is supposed to be semi-silent there But I like to pronounce it for dramatic effect.

I just want to know if JPEG will remain JPEG or maybe should be pronoinced GEPJ or JPEJ or GPEG. It does not matter much, it won't sell for more than 10 cents anyway.

Well if we use the Gif vs Jiff adjustment would it become J pesh  ;D  or J paghe?

Wilhite and the team who developed the file format included in the technical specifications that the acronym was to be pronounced with a soft g. In the specifications, the team wrote that "choosy programmers choose ... 'jif'", in homage to the peanut butter company Jif's advertising slogan of "choosy moms choose Jif"

If the programmers who designed it say it's like peanut butter, then it is. If I was arguing the other side, usage defines what's in the dictionary, so GIF with the hard G is also correct.

This is my contribution to the debate on pronunciation, going by when it was first used.

"Old English words with G underwent a sound shift where the Gs became Ys, so, since GIF is an English-made word, the correct pronunciation is "yiff""

Today is the Flag Day celebration in Waubeka Wisconsin. Pop. 640

I'm the one playing the orange drum. Some day I'd really like to wrap it is something like Red White and Blue with stars? Valerie is the flag girl behind the color guard. In 2020 someone called off the parade and celebration. Covid, remember? The locals said "Hell no, we're going to have it." So with the county Sheriff's deputies blocking traffic, volunteer firefighters and their equipment, and anyone else who got the word, there was an abbreviated version of the parade.

On June 14, 1885, Bernard Cigrand, a teacher in Waubeka (an unincorporated part of Fredonia in Ozaukee County), put an American flag on his desk at Stony Hill School and asked his students to write an essay about the flag's importance.

The date mattered: On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Stars and Stripes as the flag of the new, still-embattled nation.

I'm charging batteries, we're skipping the parade this year. Fireworks = timelapse? Maybe a composite shot, of close up edit for a background... which will languish somewhere in the world of Microstock.

But just for the purpose of maybe anyone who has some flag photos or anything patriotic for the US, you might see some minor activity?

LGBTQIA+ is an abbreviation that stands for:

    Lesbian
    Gay
    Bisexual
    Transgender
    Queer or questioning
    Intersex
    Asexual
And more, with the "+" representing other sexual identities

Jif and Gif are the same because the person who named it says so. The End  8)
