I've been selling clips at shutterstock for 8 years now, but I've never earned $300 from a single footage sale. That would mean they payed $1000. What kind of license was that?!  :o

General - Stock Video / Vimeo Stock

So did anyone get an invite for Vimeo Stock? https://vimeo.com/stock
I didn't. It seems to be exclusive only for now.

Does anyone have a method of avoiding the appalling Paypal currency exchange rates? Some of my earnings from stock sales is in dollars, and Paypal will only let me withdraw in euros. And thus forcing me to accept the exchange rate from Paypal that is much worse than just about anywhere else.
It costs me hundreds of euros each year.

Pond5 / New licenses coming..
June 15, 2016, 13:31
Color me worried:

We're Upgrading
In response to artist feedback, we'll be upgrading our licensing terms.

By offering more options -- like the ability to pay more for additional seats, indemnification protection, and broader usage rights -- we can attract a wider audience of customers. More customers means more money in your pocket.

In preparation for these enhancements, we'll be reviewing our entire collection, so we may reach out with a question or two. We'll also be sharing a revised contributor agreement, as well as an overview of the new licensing options and what they mean for you.

We're excited about these changes, and we'll be in touch over the next few months with all the details. Stay tuned!

Is anyone selling stuff there? How do sales compare to other agencies, for motion graphics?
http://www.editableclips.com

I'm a bit worried about the low prices, $39 for HD and $139 for 4K. But with royalties of 70% that may be ok.

Dissolve / Statistics / activity reports

Does anyone know when or if we will ever get realtime sales statistics instead of the email contributor activity reports?

So I was looking around the Video Copilot site, great plugins. Sadly the license agreement states that the use of the plugins for stock is forbidden!

This is the EULA (pdf) look for section 4a

And I quote a part of it:

Quote4. ADDITIONAL LICENSE RESTRICTIONS.
(a) Template/Pre-Render and Stock Media Restrictions. The Software enables You to render and create Your own Works. You cannot pre-render or flatten images created with the Software using Content or other media from any source for use as a template or stock media to offer for sale and/or use to third parties (except as otherwise indicated below). But You can create a project using the Software so long as no Content/media from any source is pre-rendered, and offer or sell those Works to third parties. However, Your offer or sale of Your Works to others cannot include any Content; the purchaser of Your Works must own or acquire a license to such Content by purchasing the appropriate Software.
Other quote:
QuoteIn this regard, no Content that You have rendered or any Work that You have created with the Software or media from any source can serve as any sort of stock footage, stock photography or stock media, as animated background or editable media files, or otherwise be offered to the public or compete with the Software or any Video Copilot product, whether offered for free or payment.

So you can use the plugins to sell whatever you create directly to customers. But you cannot render out the effects if you are going to sell that stuff as stock footage.
You can however sell AE project files that use the plugin, without pre-rendering the plugin output. So the buyer of the AE project file has to buy the plugin from Video Copilot.

Adobe Stock / Adobe Stock and Creative Cloud
November 06, 2015, 16:38
So if you buy at Adobe Stock you get 40% discount on subscription if you're a Creative Cloud member. Interesting.

Please tell me, how much can Adobe/Fotolia contributors save on CC subscription?  ;)

MacRumors says that Adobe Stock will be selling video now/soon. Supposedly this has been announced at Adobe MAX.

General - Stock Video / PIXTA Invite
January 29, 2015, 09:40
I got an invitation to join PIXTA. Never heard of them, it's hard to find more info. But a lot of photo contributors are not too happy with them. And tax issues.

Do any of you contribute there?
