whole world has gone mad. not allowed to take pics of the Eiffel tower at night because the light show has a copyright. And Beat St in Seattle photos are a copyright landmine.

I have slowly had a big decline in the number of sales, but I attribute that to other factors, such as a changing market, and the GFC.

You only really appreciate the benefits of DT after a few years when your photos increase their image level. My sales numbers are down, but my return on the images that sell is right up there.

At this stage I would focus more on getting your technical skills improved. Then when you are confident at the camera, try to do some stock. Most of the previous posts have correctly stated the obvious: why would someone buy this, and what could they use it for.

I'm sure my kids hear this about me too Jennifer. The majority of folk cannot stand a bar of me, but there so many others I have developed great relationships with over the years.

We all have challenging characteristics. My main issue is I cannot stand BS.

Also, did I mention my source inside Canon Japan is a cleaner. He has the gossip, he has all the gossip.

I read with some interest that engineers at Canon were really upset about the 5D MKII. They were concerned Canon was pursuing pixels over quality. My bet is the next generation of sensors will be no larger but mind blowing quality. My source in Canon in Japan says the IDs replacement will be the vehicle for this.

English skills are now longer a skill it seems. The work I do full time is continually frustrated because of ICT being outsourced to India and others where the programmers write code and put in poor spelling. Then the systems will only function if you have a good handle on "Engrish".

Few things. I have not uploaded anywhere since February. So it is interesting to see the growth.

And, I think the camera manufacturers need to get a grip on what a semi professional is.

There are a number of issues here:

1. The US stopped publication of those photos in the US. The US does not own the whole world or even the internet. So those photos can still be used if you owned the copyright.

2. The distinction between releasing photos of events is whether it is on public or private property. A street march is public property, and anyone and anything in that domain is fair play for editorial. (except of course copyrighted things like coke cans.

3. Press passes or (more accurately) media accreditation is not limited to press agencies. You will see Shutterstock advertise they will help you gain accreditation if you wish.

4. Back to the Iraq/Afghanistan thing. If you are in either of those countries the USA has no say in what you do and who you photograph, and who buys your stuff.

In my opinion, this topic has been well covered enough so that every police officer would be aware of what is right and what is wrong.

I hear someone claiming the photographers are activists, personally I think the police are the activists.

The cops know the photographers are allowed, but by claiming ignorance, they are trying to boot up public support of getting rid of photographers from public areas.

i have had stand up fights with cops after they dragged my 5D from around my neck and starting going through the images and "accidentally" deleting them.

The police know the score. They are after a fight.
