Thank you! Do you know how long does it take to exit the news listing?

Today I uploaded some photos from the fireworks to Alamy Live News collection. If I understand it correctly, they don't appear on the main collection, so I have to upload them again, right?

Do images in the Live News disappear after some time?

Happy New Year to all this MSG community. A year of fulfillment, joy and harmony for you and your families!

104
I'll be counting on you all next year! Happy 2013!

105
I have just realized that this is the fourth year in which you guys helped me in my campaigns. First, in 2009, with the "Adopt a letter" campaign from our Mail, than in the three following years with this crche. The response has been amazing, given that none of you know me in person. Your confidence shows the good will in your hearts. You guys and girls rock! :)

if you type "Favela Nova Holanda" in Google Maps, you will find the area in which the crche is located. Street view did not photograph much of it, but you can see some streets. It is a urbanized area, although public services are limited. Given it is a high risk area with the presence of drug and gun traffickers, residents have to deal with the common conflicts between police and criminals. Most people are hard workers, even if many are not legally employed. Some however, including a couple of those kids' parents, have problems with alcohol and other drugs. The NGO works not only to run the crche itself, but to help them with psychological and medical support.

106
And some more. A collage of 20 kids getting their presents. There should be 43, but I know many don't come this day because one parent is requested to attend their end of the year party, where the kids seing and dance, but many can not come. The party is not held at the crche itself, but in the center that host the NGO that organizes the educational activities in the area.

More photos!

Peace and joy to every heart!

I got the best Christmas present on Sunday, when I received the photos. I will upload more later, but I wanted to have you see this smile on Christmas. This is what I do this for: to know that these kids, who live far from the ideal social conditions, at least for a few hours have a moment of dream.

A blessed Christmas to you guys, especially those who helped me put this lovely smile on a little girl's face.

Wow, I only saw this thread now. I'm astonished. Very bright person, I loved his observations.

They can sell the photo of the cuts of my nails I have there. :D  Instagram is a toy.  I've been enjoying shooting idiot stuff and applying filters and uploading to Instagram. My very own artistic trash! :))

11:20 in which time zone? I have to get ready. There is a Christmas breakfast at office scheduled for tomorrow, I wonder if I really need to buy anything for it? :)
I think I will photograph the last sunset today! Just in case. This photo will be worth a lot in the post-world market. :))

The individual sales values was a way to see in brief the RPD and the tendency for sizes or for subscriptions or for US x non-US (for taxes) sales. Not worth the time, especially when I think of the time to track a 8c sale in IS or even the many subs sales in DT and so forth.

The number of times each image sold in each was useful to see the most succesful images and would also serve to see the type of image that works better in each site - never got any real tendency except maybe for my raster illustrations that sell well in FT more than elsewhere.

This year actually I didn't do much for sales at all, didn't even uploaded much to Alamy or Zazzle, but these are things that I plan to focus on. I don't want to produce microstock-oriented images - this was fun as a learning experience. I prefer to concentrate on my travel images and the potential they have in the editorial market. I have observed an increasing interest in images of Rio because of the World Cup and the Olympics. This is something more pleasant in terms of the hobby side of photography, and hopefully more profitable and rewarding in the business side.

And yes, I feel free. :)

Here are the presents. Mini skates and cars for the boys, and rubber animals for the two very young boys. Dolls for the girls.

I haven't received any photo from the crche yet.

116
January will mark one year since I stopped tracking microstock sales. I used to update a spreadsheet that showed how many times each image had sold in each site and all the individual sale values on each site.

I feel free. :D

Anyway, it was just not worthy for me to do that, even with my small portfolio and low sales. I prefered to focus on other activities.

I plan however to update the monthly earnings from each site, only that.

Hi everyone! Thanks for your contributions.

A brief report. I collected roughy US$140 net here, or about R$290. The 43 toys costed around R$390, plus the R$50 for the Santa Claus.

I took photos from the toys, but I was not able to go to the party last Friday, because I had a meeting at that same hour. I will upload the photos of the toys - perhaps tonight, if I have time - and the girl who manages the crche promised to send me some photos.

It is a real pity that I wasn't able to go there. Not having a proper Christmas party in my family anymore, these kids' joy and smiles are the best thing of Christmas to me.

Thank you Lisafx and michaeldb. Paymets received, and yes, PP takes a bite - do you guys have business accounts? Mine is personal.
Clivia, I have a third transfer, but I don't think it's yours. :(

This is awesome. Not just the amazing photos, but what a lifetime experience!

I have a more modest goal however, which is climbing the Kilimandjaro.

Just a remark, is it worth to sell such specialized images in micros?

122
No, although templates may be something smarter than what I do - I just never tried it. I use a previous design, click on 'customize', change the image, adjust anything that it's needed, then save it as a new product, changing title/description/keywords accordingly.

Off Topic / Charity campaign 2012 - Christmas party for the kids
« on: December 06, 2012, 22:42 »
Hi folks,

I'm very late this year for a series of reasons, but I am launching again my Christmas campaign, to which some friends here contributed in the past two years (2010 and 2011).

The Mail's "Adopt a Santa Claus letter" is almost over, and what I'm focusing now is on the Christmas party at a crche in a slum near our office. In the past two years, contributions from MSG members fully funded the toys for the more or less 45 children who attend it.

The party is on next Friday, 14th, and we hire a Santa to distribute the toys to the 2 to 4 year-old kids. It's a lovely moment, and photos are available at those links above if you want to see them.

Money can be sent to my PP or MB accounts - both _adelaidebs_at_hotmail_dot_com_.  PM me when you make the transfer, so I can check these accounts and acknowledge the donations.

Looking forward to having MSG members helping make those kids smile. Just to see them interacting with Santa is priceless, I assure you.

Regards,
Adelaide

Do a search in Zazzle forum, some members have put together useful information, including step-by-step procedures.

Personally I would stay away from quick create. It's fast to put a lot of products online fast, but the results are far from optimum. I prefer to have my own set of designs and only replace the images. It is more time-consuming, but the products look better, therefore more attractive.

A comedian here made a video about the (ab)use of Instagram. It isn't funny if you don't understand the words, but some points are about people feeling they are artists by using those filters and about the amount of crappy shots posted at Instagram.
