anybody got their payments?
No not yet.  I've just looked and it's the first time since March 2013 that it hasn't been paid by the 15th.

What . is going on there?  I have just got only one accepted out of a batch of nearly 70 images.  Some of the images are selling really well at SS and Fot.  I've rarely had rejections there before.   The images I uploaded came from at least 6 different batches so it isn't like I took a whole batch with the wrong lighting or something. I'm really pissed.

Mostly you don't find out unless you do a google image search or happen to come across images in use.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy Refunds?
« on: March 14, 2016, 15:00 »
I had a 250$ sale refunded this month the same day it was sold.  Shame as those price sales are rare for me.

I think the reason for the lack of help to others these days is because everybody is fighting to keep their increasingly smaller part of the pie. I used to be more than willing to help newbies in the days when anybody half decent  was making good money. Nowadays I don't bother as I don't want to encourage competition. In real life when I meet other photographers I used to tell them about stock photography nowadays I keep quiet about it.
At DT I sometimes click through some of the ports of people that have me in favourites and find copies of my images. It's best these days to keep a low profile and get on with it.

.

There's no motivation to contribute anymore. I see this forum dead in a few years if not months.
I still find this forum extremely useful.  It's so much easier to pop in here to see what's going on  in the stock world than having to keep check at all the idividual sites that we upload to.  The first thing I do if I notice something odd at one of the sites is come here and invariably somebody is already talking about it. People like Joanne, Sean etc save us from having to do hours of research ourselves and I'm very grateful for that.

I don't mind doing it.  I find it quite relaxing.

I had more on BS than SS because I had removed some of my worst from SS.  They just started adding any new images I upload to SS to my BS portfolio.
Same here

It wasn't top sellers. It was pretty much anyone who didn't already upload to BS. If you already had your work on BS you get a much lower rate. Way to treat people who supported BS. It was the first sign of SS's new attitude to contributors.
Not quite true.  I already had my port at BS but still got the bridge.

Normally I do not disclose personal data,
but I think that in some way can help.

Illustration > photo > footage = 2000
Average upload 20 to 30 images per month.

That is amazingly close to my numbers.
Mine too.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Question about SS tier levels
« on: March 03, 2016, 15:06 »
Assuming you value your work and effort and have just a wee bit of dignity is 0.38 acceptable to you? Assuming you reach that sickening tier level of the top. Never understood why anyone would accept that slap in the face.
You do things your way and let other people do things their way without putting them down.  I consistenly get betweeen 700$ and 900$ a month from SS. That is what I look at not the 38c.  At least half of that money is from photos that I uploaded between 4 and 10 years ago.   I have worked very little at stock photography  in the last year and earnings have dropped by a couple of hundred month on SS but still bringing in a very handy amount.  Where else can I get that? ?? ?  As far as I'm concerned the sites are throwing money at me for very little effort at the moment. Yes I would be great if they paid us more but to me it is still easy money.

I am not putting anyone down, and besides you have already done that to yourself. The difference between you and I is that I will never defend selling my work for a pitiful 0.38c as you have with pride. To each his own as they say. I am only saying that 0.38c as a top tier for a royalty is a kick in the nuts.
I wasn't saying anything with pride, just stating facts.  I have always looked at the bottom line of how much an image makes me not how much each sale brings me. I, like many others have many images that have brought in a lot more money over the years than I could ever have sold it for in an outright sale

Do you mind tell me how many images online you've got?

died from overdrawn
I currently upload to a 14 sites and have about 3000 images although at some of the newer sites I have much less. A  lot of my older images which still sell consistenly on places like SS would never get through the review process nowadays

I find that I sell a lot more of my old images on DT than I do the new ones even though my new images are so much better than the older ones that sell.

i recently posted on DT's own message board requesting advise from the seasoned pro's who are earning and not a single person was able to offer advise.
Maybe the big earners don't want to advise people how to to take their sales from them ;)

Hardly any of Yuri's work was original anyway.  He just did it on a bigger scale.
