My sales this month on a very general port have typically been one or two days when things are way up - then way way way down for the next few. Really odd variation. And nothing new moving.
The same happened with my port at SS. Real strange and It seems they're messing with search results on a daily basis.

Personally I've never heard about a case where a photographer has been succesfully sued concerning IP. So I wonder. Has there ever been a similar case before and what was the outcome?

Daily download tracking is going to drive you insane and clutter up your worksheet. Monthly is easier to deal with.
I have mine in Excel. I keep track of my payouts for taxes and what I make at each agency every month plus what I've made with them for the year. Today I started tracking what I've made with each agency all time since 2009.
Keep your paperwork simple. Doing it on a daily basis is going to take time away from creating your works.
It's 15 minutes of work a week. Been doing it since 2009. I'm with 9 agencies and dls and $ are the only data I fill in on 1 row and Excel calculates all the rest to different tabs. Ofcourse I'm the kind of person who likes to play around with Excel and keep track of things. Excel can't drive me insane, creating pictures and photoshopping all day will!

Excel. Filling in the daily downloads and $ for every site since I started. Producing great charts and graphics.

FT's algorithm appears to be incredibely crude and gives no weighting to specific keywords (even though they claim that they do).
So ur saying putting the 7 most important keywords on top doesn't help?

Fotolia for sure as it won't meet their desired level of aesthetic quality.

Hi all,
I was playing around with Google Trends and noticed that 123RF is rising pretty high. It's above Shutterstock, iStockphoto and Fotolia. Not to mention all the other microstock sites. I understand Google Trends isn't a exact measurement to compare websites popularity but it must say something. Anyone can explain why this site get's so much traffic but is just a middle tier? For me this site makes just about 5% of my total income and it's declining.

DT - dead, deader, deadest. A reflection of what you've been witnessing in the poll results. My best agency in 2011. My worst agency in 2012. Weren't they sitting around 30% late last year? And for those of you who are going to respond with a BME or reasonable facimile; look at the microstock poll. The truth in black and white. THEY know they have to turn the ship around. My suggestion would be to re-adopt 2011 tactics.
For me DT has been reasonably steady for months. But a 150% increase in RPD. Less sales (about 25%), less subs but higher returns per sale. SS: 50%. Good as usual IS: 10%. Bad. Used to be 25%. DT: 9%. Steady. Less sales, higher returns. FT: 9%. Still growing. Closed my US-account there beginning 2011 and started all over with a Euro account. 123RF: 3%. Hardly uploaded anything for over a year there. Earn 40% less now. Will leave them next year. BS: 8%. BME with my first EL there yesterday. I'd don't know what they changed but I like it! CS: 1% Good sales sometimes but not this month. VR: 6% Good month with 2 EL's

I left PantherMedia right after I joined them. They hadd a strange (old?) upload system. I uploaded about 50 good-sellers to see how they review and they rejected 80%. When I saw the rejections I laughed and closed my account right away. I left Cutcaster because the site is dead I left YayMicro because after a 1 EUR sale the first week nothing happened for months. They had an easy upload process though. I will leave 123RF end of this year because of their new pricing. I'm thinking about leaving DepositPhotos because I only get sub-sales there. On the other hand it's a new site and they seem to grow fast so I'll probably stick around untill they do something stupid like cutting commissions.

Good to see those stats Karimala. It really shows a port has sales potential for years even if one stops uploading. I'm a bit surprised that only FT seems to punish inactive contributors. It would seem logical to favourite active contributors to keep them motivated to upload more.

If not, I will drop 15% to 35%. The last time I got a 15% cut in commission for giving someone my photos for free was never. Greedy b.....
That's a misconception. Its a 30% (!) cut instead of 15%.

Got a couple of those sales ($12,60 and $8,00) in the first months of uploading there. These are a real encouragement to continue uploading. My highest there was $22

Port is around 1100 pictures at SS/DT/BS. About 600-700 at the rest and Alamy 2100. I started end 2009:
SS: March 2012 IS: March 2011 IS PP: December 2010 DT: June 2012 FT: February 2012 123RF: December 2011 BS: September 2012 Canstock: August 2012 Veer: March 2012 Alamy: February 2012

1100 images at SS. 55% of my total stock income.

I'm having a big BME there. Seeing daily sales this month. It's a weird month for me as Veer and Bigstock make about the same as IS now (thanks to the nosediving of IS).

Thanks alot! Using search to replace the dots worked.

Copying in Excel doesn't work as Fotolia uses dots instead of commas for the credits. I can't get it changed in Excel.

Not to sure about Thinkstock. I now get about half the amount of $ i got when TS started, while my port there doubled.

Thanks, that's indeed alot of work but better than nothing. Can't understand why they don't implement this as it would be easy to do.

Is there any way to see the total $ made per image at Fotolia? Or do I need third-party software to do this?

projected earnings for September:
SS (down 40%) IS (down 5%) FT (down 10%) 123RF (down 37%) DT (down 38%)
looks like a terrible month, no ELs or big sales so far, August had 23 week days, September only 20
Do you add EL's when calculating months total? Excluding EL's in your earnings % might give a better picture. At least that's how I keep track of site performances. So far only IS is down for me.

Unlike SS, for which I find the search quite good, FT takes no account of the title (description) of the image in its search placement.
This is new for me. SS using title/description for it's search algorithm. Is this true?

I noticed the same last week. Some images were set back to 10. I emailed them and they corrected them all back to 50. The big problem is that they set 10 as standard and I have to change it manually with every upload. The same with Exclusive & Free section. Fotolia used to remember my settings.

Good to see I'm not the only one thinking about leaving 123RF. They make up 5% of my income, but their minimum size rule and the fact that Google image search shows alot of 123RF pictures makes me think about leaving them too. Besides I hate the fact that I cant see how much a picture has made with them. It's like they deliberately trying to create a fuss.

Hi,
I want to delete some non-sellers from microstock sites and send them to Alamy (RM). It's not that these shots are bad but mainly poorly keyworded and edited. Besides they would have fitted more with Alamy, but what did I know back then. Is it OK to delete them as RF if they never sold (or maybe once) and add them to the RM collection?
