*important if you must update any child theme template files to reflect the current changes, or you will see errors. But can you clarify this sentence - grammatically I don't know how to interpret it.
If you've modified your theme via a child theme, and have set up some custom templates, then you will have to update those to be consistent with the 2.6.0 templates. Anyone who's child themed would know if they have to do this or not.
The newer base theme has quite a few special hooks (and fixes) thanks to the team effort. Its available right now. After updating toggle the theme so the installer runs, making a few file updates as well.
I'm still not understanding what you mean. Are you talking about page templates? I do have a child theme running and I did make changes to the layout of the page. What do I need to update/do? I'm ready to run the update und to purchase the upgrade but I'm scared to mess up my site.

Hey everybody! I've finally decided to make my own symbiostock site. The frustration came when bluehost asked for USD 160 at once -- they are asking for the whole amount and I want to be able to make monthly payments for hosting as the sum is more than half of what I make from microstock per month. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
I believe they offer one, two or three year plans. The one year plan is $71.40 ($5,95 monthly).

A little statistic of the last 7 days of traffic on my site. Might be peanuts compared to longer established sites but I think it's not too bad considering that I just started on my new domain on August 4th. Thank y'all for networking.

Ok, can someone explain what's the difference and benefit between SYS and other sites like PhotoShelter etc. The question is very simple why SYS not PhotoShelter and why SYS is the most promising project. Tks,
With Photoshelter you're basically on your own. SYS is a network where members feature each other. Every participating member benefits from it. Not even to mention that SEO is far more superior with SYS. Your images will actually be found. And of course, SYS is free.

@PZF Try to take a look at the big picture. Symbiostock is still a baby. However it is the most promising project the stock image industry has seen in the last ten years and it has the potential to resolve many of the problems stock contributors are suffering from these days. With the direction most of the agencies are taking today - you have to try Symbiostock if you still want to reasonably sell stock images tomorrow.

Are you sure you want to attract people who are looking for free images?

I used to think CNAME record changes take 24 to 48 hours to be effective because the domain name servers need that time to be updated.

Not sure if it has been requested before:
A "loupe" function would be a great feature where potential buyers can check the outstanding quality of our images 1:1.
+1 Very good request. That should help building trust.

With the basic child theme you have a wide footer (if anyone has found a way of making this match the rest of the page I would be delighted to hear from you) and you do not get the grey background around the edges.
I use use the basic child theme and I simply set the border to 0. footer .footer_info { background-image: none; background-color: #fff; text-align: center; border: 0 }

You can download 2.5.6 here: http://l.bitcasa.com/PbVlzLwE
Just installed it. The details tab in Themes says this is version 2.5.5.
Oh really? Thanks for letting me know. Try this one instead: http://l.bitcasa.com/Dul-ttvPI wish they had the version number in the file name.

How did you ever find that?
I didn't "find" it. When it was available I downloaded it to my Bitcasa drive in case I'd need it again at a later time. From there I simply "share" it.

Setting the PHP version from 5.4 back to 5.3 did the trick for most people.

Hi guys. I have done all of the above mentioned things. It's still a negative from here I'm afraid. I wonder why this is?
Have you removed the IPN settings inside your Paypal admin area? What exactly is not working? Your purchased file isn't available for download or what is the issue?

I've found the "Disable Comments" plugin. It'll do the job when you set it to "Disable Comments On Media Post Types". And it can be enabled/disabled without messing with code.
Thanks for that info, Redneck. I'm going to do that too.
I found 2 plugins that seem to do that job: "Disable Comments" and "PMC Disable Comments". Which one did you use? Or was it another plugin entirely?
Thanks!
It's called "Disable Comments" by Samir Shah.

To get the comments turned off on your images pages. Go into your dashboard and click on the Symbiostock Bee area. At the top of the page click on Author Options. There will be a dropdown box about halfway down the page that says Image Comments. You can disable comments from there.
I don't think you have to tick the Update all Existing Images box but I'm not entirely sure, though I don't remember doing that.
No Anita, I have this setting disabled. That's not what I'm talking about. I was talking about the additional ("Useless") image page that will still allow comments. Just like your's at http://images.mddu.com/image/fourth-of-july-bottle-rocket-background/royalty-free-content-fourth-of-july-bottle-rocket-background/ , which will attract spammers sooner or later.

HERE'S SOMETHING IMPORTANT I FORGOT WHEN MOVING MY SYMBIOSTOCK SITEClean up the old house when you move! I recently noticed two issues. #1 - All of a sudden I was listed TWICE on the Symbiostock network, one listing for the old site, another one for the new site. I was so focussed on my new site that I had forgotten to disable the network feature on the old still working site. Even though I had set a 301 redirect to the new domain, my old Symbiocard and Symbiostock network was still active. I have it deactivated today and the changes should be in effect by tomorrow. #2 - I noticed at Google Webmaster Tools that the old site has way more incoming links than the new one. I believe the problem is that partners who added my old site to their network didn't get automatically updated to the new domain. I guess these partners need to add my new domain and remove my old domain from their network list. So I'm kindly asking the people who had me on their networking list, please update your Symbiostock network settings. Old domain: http://picbreeze.com -> Remove from network listNew domain: http://picturebreeze.com -> Please add to your network list if you're still interested in networking with me. This might especially apply to (my most incoming links generating partners) ... - georgesheldon.net
- acrylik.com
- americastockphoto.com
- landwehrle.com
- and others
Sorry for the trouble.

Why is this additional page being generated that looks like this...?
When you upload and process an image, two additional images are created: a thumbnail and a preview / watermarked version.
The preview / watermarked version is given a title of "Royalty Free Content: "... (in the database).
In order to change this, you would need to make a code change (for future images) and then update the database (for previously uploaded images).
I made the changes, since I wanted to remove the verbiage "Royalty Free" from my website, and changed it to "Stock Image".
You can take a look at one of my sample images here:
http://shazamimages.com/image/perfect-blue-water-drop/stock-image-perfect-blue-water-drop/
The pattern is http://yourdomain.com/image/your-image-title/royalty-free-content-your-image-title/ .
Actually, the pattern will only look like that if you don't change the permalink of your image from when it was originally uploaded. If you upload the image and then change the permalink, then it will have a slightly different URL.
My question wasn't why two image versions are being created. My question is why two different pages (with the same image but different text content) are being created. Especially since one of these seems not to do anything good. To use your example: Useful page: http://shazamimages.com/image/perfect-blue-water-drop/Useless page: http://shazamimages.com/image/perfect-blue-water-drop/stock-image-perfect-blue-water-drop/

And second, how can I disable comments on these pages? Because that's where all the spam is coming from.
Try Settings Discussion Default article settings then untick Allow people to post comments on new articles
Thanks Christine, I changed that but it will obviously only apply to NEW articles. Which means I'd have to manually change 1300 already existing pages I don't need.

Cathy:
I have a business paypal account and when I try to delete to URL I put in the box, it doesn't let me. The URL I have entered on Paypal is the my site.com/symbiostock_ipn/ is this correct?
You don't NEED to enter any URL in your Paypal admin area. Only if you want to redirect the customer after the purchase to a certain page of your website (like the customer area) then you may set an auto return URL. If you're not sure about this stuff, just leave it alone for now. You will however need to set the Paypal IPN directory URL inside your WP -> Symbiostock -> Settings -> Email and Payment Process Communication to http://yourdomain.com/symbiostock_ipn/ . And make sure the radio button is set to "Live" when you actually want to process real payments.

Devil's advocate here....
What if G---y said offered ridiculous $$$ for www.symbiostock.com, www.symbiostock.info and www.symbiostock.net websites?
What if they offered Leo ridiculous $$$ for the site and code and sent out an update that broke the network?
Just saying...
The code is public already. There's no turning back the open source character.
