Sorry that I wasn't more clear to begin with... I did mean this thread to be a general rant about IS keyword policies, not the CV, which is a whole different issue. Thanks for pointing that out Sean.

if they're acceptable on BigStock would they be acceptable on SS? It seems that for now the two sites are still running as individual entities, so I would think that they still have different reviewers. Just a guess...

Last batch here went through very quickly as well.

FTP server for video uploads That's enough to get my blood boiling! The photographers that have been with them for years are stuck with their HORRIBLY slow http upload system and videos get FTP?!?!?! The list of things that I dislike about IS is never-ending! The ONLY thing that I like is the money...

Thanks for the input!
I agree that "retirement" may be stretching, but I still believe that the other keywords are relevant. I only included that word because so many other piggy bank images have used it and are available for sale there.
I have no desire to participate in the forum at IS... As this is just one of many examples of how CV affects acceptance of images, I'm afraid that my temper might get the best of me sometimes, so I don't want to vent over there for fear of repercussions.
There were many other photos from that shoot, so it's not that big of a deal, but I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.
Thanks!

I'm sure that many of you know that I'm not a big fan of the CV on IS... As a result, I'm VERY careful with keywords there. However, I'd like everyone's input on the following situation: The image above was rejected by IS for the following keywords: The following keywords used for this file do not appear to be fully relevant to the subject.
{[ Coin Bank (Financial Item), Banking, Business, Finance, Finance, Investment, Savings (Financial Item), Investment (Finance), Isolated (Cut Out), Retirement, Retirement]} I've already used my 3 scout requests (all files accepted after scout, BTW) for the month.

ShamWow is one of those infomercials that you see all of the time here in the US, so it is an "As seen on TV" product.

If they are really very small, you could try cloning them out completely. I don't think that blurring faces is a good idea. I agree. While I've never tried what you're suggesting, I think that it's probably not going to fly.

Dave, please remember that I'm not a "pro", so this is just my two cents...
The colors look very flat (due to the shooting conditions, I'm thinking). The trees in the background are very dark and without detail. The overcast, oppressive sky doesn't help me love the images, either.
Also, while these photos may look lovely framed and hanging in someone's living room, they are not what most of the stock agencies are looking for. Try for subjects that clearly illustrate a concept, such as "business", "family" or anything else that you can come up with.
Remember, buyers purchase photos to illustrate ideas and sell products. While many of us started out with nature photography, you'll find that there are not many making good money with only those types of photos in their portfolio as concepts are where the bigger numbers come in for most of us.
Don't give up on nature (or photography in general) but try to broaden your horizons, so to speak, and shoot some concepts. I think that you'll find that it really gets your brain going to come up with a concept and then shoot it.
Good luck!

With 931 images on SS and 1,030 on BigStock, I'm curious to see how this shakes out. I'd REALLY like to see more credit sales on SS! I guess we'll have to wait and see...

FWIW, graphic designers that I work with typically charge $150 for a logo.

Lisa, you should be happy that you can upload "a couple hundred" images! I'm restricted to 100 per week. I'm still playing catch-up trying to get everything on Veer along with my regular 20/week upload.

Funny thing... After starting this thread, I've had 2 EL's this month on SS. First time ever that there were more than one in a month!

That's definitely another problem with online backup... Even with broadband so affordable, most ISP's still have fairly slow upstream connections which makes putting your entire portfolio up somewhere a VERY time consuming process.

To the people using only NAS, RAID and multiple drives attached, ultimately, to a single power source: an electrical failure, power surge or lightening strike could take it all out. Surge protection is not a guarantee especially if something fails upstream. Good point! Our house got struck by lightning a couple years ago, but luckily, it only fried my modem, router and network card. I just picked up an Acer H340 Windows Home Server.

Pretty slick. That looks like a good option, but I bought my NAS used and got it for under $100 so I'll be holding on to it for a while even though it is SO SLOW!!

I had forgotten all about them! I just took a look and have earned 8.63 euros since 05. I like that I can get my money even though I didn't reach the 60 euro mark because you can request payout every 3 months.

What it does impede are relevant keywords! There are plenty of holes in that system where the word that describes the subject of your photo is not available to use!

Call me paranoid, but I worry about 2 things when using online storage: 1. What might they be doing with my files without my knowledge? 2. What happens if the close? I'm sure that all of you heard the massive outcry when tiny.url was going to close. Now imagine if the had all of your images! YIKES!!

I was thinking along the same lines... that maybe something in the news causes people to purchase a particular type of photo and buyers from the same area are buying from different sites.
Just be happy! It means that your photo is the best one for what they are looking for!

Someone needs to get those dogs into a studio! REJECTED:1) Poor or uneven lighting or harsh shadows 2) Noise 3) The focus is not sharp or where we think that it should be 4) Not suitable for stock 5) Material in the photo includes copyrights Did I leave anything out??

I run a Network Attached Storage with 2 terabyte drives on it. Backup every time that I add new photos. I've got a Linksys/Cicso NAS200 which is VERY slow, but it keeps my data safe. There are other, more expensive options out there, but I couldn't see spending the extra money to save a few seconds...
