I had 4 in the first half of the month and then didn't get anymore in the second half.

I checked my last 100 sales and 48 were credit sales which is about the same as usual.

I'm really surprised about that. DT has dropped way down for me but still gives me 8x more earnings than Deposit and Bigstock and 123rf give me 2-3 times more than Deposit.

When I go into 'unread posts'  I really would like a way of deleting the threads that don't interest me  leaving just the ones that I want to read so that I can quickly go down and read the ones that I want to.  At the moment I have to open each post to get rid of it or delete them all.

I did get an answer. There isn't an opt out on the site. They did say if I gave it a chance and then wanted to opt out we could talk - i.e. something informal.

As I'm already there and so far there haven't been any sales, bidder or otherwise, I figured I could afford to just see what happens. If you do decide to upload, they can help out with large portfolios if you contact them.
Thanks Joanne, I think I will wait and see how this pans out.

I just sent support there a message asking how I opt out of bidder. I think it's an insane idea - with a volume discount on credits or buying a month subscription, the buyer is doing something in return for getting the discount. For this scheme, the buyer does nothing. Their FAQ says that if they reject your bid they'll counter with something guaranteed to be less than the list price. I'm guessing they'll say I can't opt out, but it's worth asking.

I too do not recall this being mentioned anywhere when I signed up...
Did you ever get an answer on this?  I was thinking about uploading my port there but won't bother if anybody can come along and make a bid to buy my images at a lower price than they are on sale anywhere else.

Might just scrape into the 50% but 45% for sure so not terribly concerned yet.

Deposit is getting better but still not even close to 123rf and bigstock let alone the big 4.  They have managed to catch up with canstock though.

I've just had a batch refused for 'out of focus' which were all accepted by IS, DT and FOT as well as all the smaller sites.   They were from 3 different shoots and the focus is perfect on all but one which is still a much better image than some of the crap they accept.

This August I probably won't even make half as much as I did last August !!

« on: August 19, 2012, 09:32 »
If I  carry on the same for the rest of the month as the beginning of the month then I should make 3 times what I made last August but the numbers are too small to mean anything.  Will make less that 10$ this month.

I've seen artists setting up stores in Second Life

people are still on Second Life ?
Yes, I think that for my brother and his wife it has become their first life!!!!! Sad!!  She justifies it by saying that she is going to make a lot of money on it but I think they have yet  to see a single cent and they are ploughing money into it.

I joined the "8 Cent Club" today!
Me too.  I don't usually look at the price an image sells for but as it was the first sale on new upload which is a favourite image of mine I had a look only to find it had sold for 8c. I wish that I hadn't looked now!!!

...  well, must say, if morality is that expensive! I dont want none. :)

LOL!  Very well summed up Christian.  As you already pointed out, I was in the same boat as you.  I like to think I am an ethical person, but part of my ethics involve making sure my family has a roof over our head, food to eat, and my daughter has an education. When the morality of pulling my images from unfair sites conflicts with the morality of providing for my family, family wins hands down.  If I was single and had a day job or other revenue streams, I might have made a different choice.

That said, I have nothing but respect for the actions of people like Cathy and Cory who chose to pull their images.  I think it was a very brave thing to do and not without some personal sacrifice for them.   I can admire their stance even though it would have been completely impractical for me to follow suit.
Well said Lisa.  Great post and I totally agree with you.  Morals won't feed my family.

The last couple of months my earnings have been high from the partner programmes and has been about 30% of my total IS earnings.

My best seller on DT with 100s of DLs was rejected by IS for focus.   I have seen it in use on the cover of a whole series of A4 size language learning pamphlets and somebody sent me a shot of it being used as a large poster at their local hospital.

My first 50 or 60 images look as they should be with a couple of odd ones mixed in further down the page.

I love the fact that you saw what she had written on the crapstock site before you saw what she had written in this thread.  You must have thought you were seeing things. Brilliant.
