23 images sold of 100? in 5 days?
i have 4000 quality travel photography and made less in the last 5 days.
it's clear in my opinion that shutter stock want sell new contento only
- they cost 0,25 vs 0,38...multiplied for 1000000 file is a good save
- they want people not reach minimum payout so to have better balance account.
those 2 things are reflected in a search engine that punish everything old and established ontriboutro produce.
good move ss when only amateur will be left you will see the quality of work u will sell.

it's the future of micro stock. nobody apart some very big agency could produce something to live on with it.
photography i a chepa commodity, buyer can find free photo everywhere , and everybody with a camera seems to contributing to a micro stock . if you have talent and portfolio go for macro and high quality. diversify doing many things or become a instagram hero. other way better find another job and stop complaining of poor sales.

My best earner is the following which happens to be an editorial sold at SS. If I were to offer it at Alamy as RM I wonder if it would have done better.
It may have done, or it may not.
At Alamy it's nothing to do with quality or uniqueness of the image, it's all to do with the discount a buyer has.
RM (single use, no exclusivity) can sell for less than RF at Alamy, which makes sense if you think that if a buyer doesn't require exclusivity (which is fairly rare at Alamy), and they only want one single use, why would they have to pay as much as for an RF which they could use for several different uses within the licence. In fact, Alamy have a hybrid licence for RF-designated files to reflect that: the buyer can licence for a specific non-exclusive use or pay more for RF.
But then you can always get lucky on Alamy and get larger sales value if an occasional buyer has a need for a particular file.
i agree and add that there is rm and rm. alamy is a low end rm agency for example, pretty easy to enter. my best rm is lower than best rf there for example. then there is the high end boutique rm. i work with reduxpictures for usa editorial, and some news agency in europe, i'm discussing with rm agency for being added at the moment. they have a "personal" assistant which whom you collaborate, send photos, he makes the edit, and help you choose the best work, advertise your work with festival of photo and promote. these are only rm, and they can sell for very high end prices if you have the right photos. for creative rm high end the level is very high. i personally don't see similar content in rf for example. another option i like and will try to upload this year is stocks. i like the style and they way they work. my people rf photography is more their style than the style i see in rf. I can add that recently i see a more oriented to stocks style portfolio even in micro stock , with wide use of visco filter and a more natural approach to shooting.

This whole RF v RM argument sometimes feels like that famous Stanford marshmallow experiment about delayed gratification.
In other words, I may either have many low-value (RF) sales now or be patient and get some huge RM later.
for my standard it shouldn't even be a rf. distortion of horizon, poor composition, shot like work if you shot from the middle of the street with a diminishing perspective towards horizon, lot of pp and clarity who already show artifacts. personally even looking your website u think rm is a lot of pp and black and white and some shadow. no. it's not.

well i don't see nothing particuylary interesting. two nice snapshots nothing more.,
i suggest you go to the best rm agency and see what they have in portfolio.
in my opinion rm is not for photo you consider good, but for photos that have a unique character.

strangely yesterday had 26 sales in one day..mostly 0,38, all from a brazil travel batch, and two bigger for 14 dollar...all after i complaint:)
i'm not saying dreamstime will go out of business. i'm just pointing out my and other experience.
it was solid third for many now has slipped in the middle tier near low earners.

i have more than 8000 sales...and i'm not shooting at all content stock oriented..mostly travel and editorial...
last two year in dreamstime are outrageous. worst agency by far...and it was a solid 3 place fro me...idf it has slipped in middle tier there is something going on...it was the 3 agency for most.
in addiction dreamtime was one low seller but any sales always was more than 2 dollar with mostly 5 8 dollar....now not only low volume but mostly 0,38

dreamstime is falling down. i had near 120 dollar every month with less than 2500 images...now with more than 3800 i collect what 8 dollar?
nothing sell new old medium old....i suspect most of big earners did their number like me between 2006-2013..last two years dreamstime is not selling nothing.
and you can see easily in the column of pool results...dreamstime was 3 now is even behind 123

worked hard in the last month.
i never spend so many times in the past uploading..from 2013 2016 january i uploaded a bunch of file...this year i'm uploading and working on a backlog so big it looks a titanic...but uploading good file is making a different. best month of last 4 years thanks of two sals today each for 84 dollar. really amazed.
i know christmas will make this month so short but i have hope to be back to 2009 year.
what surprises me is that practically every new file i uploaded is selling. i sell only new in practice.

I have a backlog of over 3000 assets ready to be uploaded, so I'm not wasting any of my time by not uploading during the holidays.
i even still uploading christmas stil life i'm doing since the last week...i know it's late maybe for this year but why not have in the collection instead of my hard disk? i lost the good times with too many files to work in my computer.

personally i sell only new content and this month is not going bad...saturday had a 24 el unexpected today is slow but my portfolio is not very seasonal so for me uploading is a no brain. micro stock is about quantity. for quality if i were a buyer i will look somewhere else...like offset and stocks for micro or aurora or other for macro.
personally i don't understand all these mental masturbation.
personally i have a big backlog i'am cleaning and i want do it so fast in case ss change their uploadd policy and back to 25 a week:))...
i'm not uploading bad files , my acceptance is in the least month much more than 80&% and i upload travel and editorial mostly.
today very slow but why not uploading? it cost nothing.

Jeez! 197000 files and $.300 a day? I agree there must be something wrong. I know somebody at SS with a meager 2500 files and he is earning around $.400 per day. Ok he has a very specialized portfolio but even so.
Suggest you check your keywording and as already pointed out this soft porn business dont help its giving the wrong messages.

It is possible, do not underestimate it.
I know a person earning even more somewhere around $800 a day, but he has very good portfolio of around 30k+ files

why people surprised with this number?
shooting in eastern europe is so cheap you can produce for penny and sell for good money.
i went to a capital of eastern europe, often go there, and last time did some shooting of model, i mostly do travel and general photos.
8 shooting...total paid no more than 250 euro...included model make up most of the time and studio 3 time.
1200 images produced of good quality, girl in eastern europe are so photogenic and so good in front of camera that you barely have to direct them. they are already selling good, i have recovered the money in less than a month.....imagine doing 30 shooting at month...with 1500 euro you can do all rent car, stylist, organize shooting in location.
that's why this guy and most of other russian ukrainaina serbian polish photographer produce like this.
if they had to pay for western europe price they had 5% of portfolio probably.
All depends who you working with. 8 shooting and 250EUR? With makeup? And studio? I would really like to see the results of those shooting. Can you show us?

i add that i'm more oriented in fresh look, young girl , and stocksy kind of shooting. natural not too much make up artist. i like feminine more than dolls...i for example never shoot fake model with fake boobs or lips.. i see you are more oriented towards this model.

by the way i will not say the capital...m...k....ahah.....in some cities in soviet world...renting studio cost 8 10 euro hour...where i live is no less than 100....model credible and of quality, the level i shot last time, no less than 300 500 if you want release and work with agency, or 100 200 day if freelancer, make up another 100...most places don't let you shoot in or are very difficult...where i go in easter europe i can ask a bar to shoot some photos and the owner will be super happy because he thinks " this guy choose my place it must be so cool". by the way most model in the world come from soviet world....have you eve asked yourself why?  and they are not unique...actually i have russian friend girls who could easily be victoria secret model but they not care a ..s...t of model...they only like to " enjoy" life. by

i'm sorry but i intend to be inanimate cause micro stock is for my real photo career hurting. i sell fine art in gallery and high end travel macro and won't mix the two thing. i have a look at your model and i'd say the level is similar. i pay 8 euro per hour model make up and studio. so 3 hour is near 70 euro. i did 4 shooting tfp with model release...two young couple i shoot in park and bar, for free, a group friend of 4 people two times i shot tfp. add make up in some shot, i had an assistant i pay 5 euro hour,....i paid something near 250. the model i paid are all experienced. in addiction soviet girl are in 90% very open to camera and they know how to pose and act with fluidity...if you go to seaside like black sea you will find many mother taking photos of their young daughter and already at 5 6 years teaching them angle pose etc. personally i 'd say the results are similar to what i see in your portfolio, and especially the young couple show a more natural feeling compared to professional model....i have the impression that stocks looks more for this natural feeling instead of a true professional model with fake attitude. but it's my view. by the way i love poland been there many times in past ,, there are many nice girl, but i not see top notch beauty in the street in the level you can find in any soviet country. maybe your model that are very nice and good fresh look, are top where u live...in moscow or minsk you can find girl like that in every corner, most are student who love being photographed or needs just some cash for their study. how do you thinkthe hundred of production house in kiev or moscow can deal with all their shooting? sure i paid probably less than ideal prize, but i would never shoot top notch model for microstcok.

after some day of good sales...i practically uploaded a lot and sell everyday a lot of new files...hitting back after some time with more than 50 download , many 2,85 dollar and one el.....last two days suddenly completed dead with 15 yesterday and today just 6.
maybe they just changed again the research parameter,

Not 50 downloads a day. I am DOWN 50 - 60 downloads. My best day this week was 164.  I always have 3-4 weeks of 200 - 240. Monday and Friday are always low. The other person I mentioned just send me a message that today his sales are back to normal so I hope mine will go back to normal also. Just hoping.

what surprises me is that people are still uploading images of salad or christmas...and thy still accept everything.
in my opinion there are so many niche that still needs images cause if we analyze the photos 95% are copy of copy and similar subject.

I have 67 sales over the past two years adding up to only $25.00. Am I licensing my photos incorrectly or is it unusual to sell photos for more than $2.00 a piece? My catalog consists mostly of landscape photos.

no, you are definitely not doing well.
with ss you get that much in one month as a newbie, that much in one day as an old-timer..
your material is definitely not microstock material...
or if you do have microstock sellable images, then maybe your keywording is bad.
but landscapes are more for artsy agencies like stocksy, offset, canva, even alamy...
as some of the commentors already point out.
even if you make still life of tomato, apple, marijuana, onions,etc... on white
you will surely make more money in one month than you did in 2 years with landscape.
the last para. is not being cynical. it's the fact of microstock.
boring pictures sell like hot cakes... (even hot cakes sell like hot cakes with ss)...
images that make them go "oooh, ahhh!" at photo clubs and photo exhibition are not microstock sellers.
look at the toilet paper, kitty litter, feminine napkin, etc pictures on those boxes...
that's microstock big sellers.
good landscape sells pretty well...good landscape... today shooting on white new stuff is totally useless, there are zillions of this photos. sure landscape and travel of thailand won't sell well but luckily there are many country where most micro stocker if not very don't go.

maybe you don't know exactly how many people are ready to jump the stock wagon in all the world...look only the spread of photographer coming from serbia ukraine russia in the last here...producing millions of photo, because produce in these country is so cheap u can shoot with model 5 times a time for the price of one shooting in usa or uk.....and they can live good with 800 1000 dollar month...
i repeat micro stock is a fight of poor. to survive you need supercontnetn and sell them in rm or high end rf factory. the micro stock at this moment or you have a big production with minimum cost or you die.

i believe for sure just i not experienced any sale like this....maybe i shoot more travel images...maybe i sell less but sell for better price. i sell mostly crediti in stock fotolia andd shutter. maybe is what i shot.
It's hard to say, I can't see which of my images went for the 1c values (only four sales, thankfully). The 3c G+ sales only started this month, AFAIK. Why wouldn't customers who have good deals (e.g. big bulk buyers, people who can use Getty images for free e.g. Steelhouse [I suspect that's a Connect deal, for which Getty got a lot of money and we get almost nothing]) not want certain types of image?
i don't have any getty connect...only think stock...and i have check minimum sale ever 0,28...i expected this to lower to 0,2 0,15..clearluy 0,01 is a joke. but for me the important is not about how many sales for image, or royalty for sale....i see end month if the total is more than month before is sustainable, if not, i will stop uploading. anyway i have stopped uploading cause i have 400 files waiting to be reviewed...it seems they not care more of non exclusive. in the past they review very fast. now s like a month waiting. in addiction i have very slow internet and only fast mobile with 20 giga month, so i need also to choose what upload to whom fast, and then use cable at home for other service...istock will be put on the second uploading.
