They should turn fox news in to a full on comedy.  So many Brits had a good laugh when they said Birmingham was a no-go area for non-Muslims.  The "expert" was unable to say where he had read that and obviously hadn't bothered doing any fact checking or speaking to anyone that had ever been to Birmingham.  It should be called Fox (ridiculous made up stuff that nobody with an IQ higher than their shoe size should take seriously) news

Will this be any better than the free sites that are full of LCV images that the vast majority of designers wont bother with?  Maybe this will get some of the people that only use free images but I doubt it will change the miscrostock world much.

@sharpshot: If I am correct, Axel already has pulled his port from Shutterstock and some other agencies.
Might as well forget microstock and just use the higher priced sites then?  I just find the op strange because mostphotos has been doing this for such a long time.  Anyone that can't accept getting paid that little should of left by now.  I'm OK with their average, that's what keeps me there.

I sold one for 150 euro in January, get uploading again :)  I always look at the average amount I get per sale and they are OK for a microstock site.  If you pull your portfolio with them, then you might as well pull it from most of the microstock sites.

Uploading wasn't a chore, it was 10 seconds work a week.  There was no reason to stop uploading until they stopped it.

Google have killed off other sites that have nothing to do with microstock before.  Would be good to have an independent non-profit search engine that was used by everyone but I suppose that's never going to happen.

I think GL are still doing relatively well, there's lots of sites that have been around for years selling much less.  Just to be 13th in the earnings poll here is quite an achievement when you look at the huge list of sites.

They haven't announced that uploads have started again, so i suspect Beppe Grillo just hasn't uploaded for a while?

I wish they would allow even 10 uploads a week, just to give the buyers something new to look at.  They sell something occasionally for me.

This is from their forum.

The response covers all of the concerns raised.

Still waiting from early November to get my first batch in. Unsure if they are still stuck in the queue or I should re-upload. I have no access to backend so there is no way for me to check. Is anyone else in this position still?
I would wait, they do seem to get around to reviewing eventually.

I fail to see how Envato are simply facilitating transactions between contributors and buyers when they have a payout threshold and will be holding on to some peoples money forever.  If they really wanted to not be an agency, they need to have a system where the contributor is paid automatically as soon as a buyer purchases a license.

Now they are going to have a lot of contributors leaving because they don't want to deal with the potential tax problems and they will be keeping their money under the $50 payout threshold, how can a reseller justify keeping that money?

I would be very concerned about the Getty/istock financial problems.  How are they going to get the money they need to keep going?  Seems likely to me that they will have to cut exclusive commissions, as what other options do they have?  So I would be more inclined to go with Pond5 and all the other non-exclusive sites.

How long will alamy be able to claim they are the worlds largest stock photo collection?

Hobostocker doesn't seem to of noticed that lots of people see the different colours on the same screen, so it doesn't have anything to do with modern TFT displays.

1142
Why are you leaving so fast? The way I see it it's legally impossible for them to claim that the contributors are the sellers. So things will probably change?
Fast?  This should of been sorted out 2 months ago.  It's an obvious problem for contributors that we don't need and none of the other sites I use has done this.  I don't want to continue with a low earning site that doesn't see that this is a big problem or, more likely, doesn't care.

My portfolio has gone.  Annoying that another small bit of income has gone but I couldn't see any other option.

1144
Will the fact that it looks like they could go bankrupt at some point make buyers look elsewhere now?  Will they feel comfortable paying subscription fees upfront or will they go back to paying for individual images?

Are the Carlyle Group just going to write off Getty?  Looks like some of their previous acquisitions have ended up filing for bankruptcy, is Getty too big to fail or just a small part of their portfolio that can be written off?  I'm guessing the latter.

This one is interesting, Oriental Trading Company was owned by the Carlyle Group and filed for bankruptcy and was then purchased by Berkshire Hathaway.  Time for some wild speculation, would be interesting if Warren Buffett got Getty, he is friends with Bill Gates who owns Corbis.

....and where the black is coming from ?? with PS they're all shades of Gold/Brown, check by yourself...
The original question was what colour is the dress, so while I see some gold/brown colours in the black, that looks like a reflection from the shiny surface.  So the actual material looks black.  Maybe that is part of the problem, some people are looking at the colour of the light refelecting from the surface, rather than guessing what colour the dress is?  I don't see any white, the blue colour is quite strong.

The blue is so strong to me, there's no way I can see that as white.  They mentioned on the TV that it might be down to the difference in peoples light sensitive cells in the back of the eye.

The best thing that could ever happen to iStock would be for Getty to spin them off to make some quick money. Getting out from under Getty is the only way iStock will ever bounce back.
Does istock still exist?  It seems completely absorbed by Getty to me, I don't think they could spin it off and who would they sell it to?  Selling to one of their rivals wouldn't be a good business move.

Just shows how out of touch with modern music you are if you haven't heard of Calvin Harris.  And it isn't always conventional groups that make music, nothing new there, remember Frank Farian?  He was behind Boney M and Milli Vanilli.
