A buyer through subscription could buy a print and I end up getting .35 in royalties which rather sucks, or is that not the case?
In the announcement thread on DT Achilles writes: "prices are kept minimal: production costs + RF pricing (maximum size, credits only, levels apply). Contributor royalties & agency share calculation is based on the same formula used for regular downloads." So you should not be concerned about subs in that context.

yes, it's back again, earnings from the last few days are missing...

Working for me too, two sales today already showing up on the earnings site. Unfortunately only subs (like almost everything lately on 123), but that's a different topic

At least the trend in the industry seems to go in the other direction. Both FT and DT have recently lowered their commissions for exclusive images - maybe to make the "exclusive artist" model more attractive.

I had a different "first" last week: The first time that a credit sale (1 credit for an extrasmall size) brought in less than a sub. Only 32 cents...

At least one good thing about the Premium subscription: I had one file selling today as Premium subscription that is only available as "L" size. So it made me 0,36 (Euros in my case) instead of 0,31 because the buyer just happened to have bought the Premium plan.

Hey dirkr and oboy,
@DirkR
That message was posted on August 10. Thats right, August 10th. Today is Sept. 9th. And thats because simultaneously to working on the new upload tool:
-we are introducing the new subscriptions for web- and print usage these days (http://bit.ly/15Uqct), as you may know from our recent newsletter.
-we are expanding our business to Poland with a dedicated team these days (http://bit.ly/1q44ww), as you may know from our recent newsletter (http://bit.ly/mqZce).
Both facts are mentioned on our Twitter page (http://twitter.com/panthermedia) so its easy to recognize that we have a lot of things going on besides - and its indeed around the corner and very, very important - the final testing of the new upload tool.
Btw Andy, any comment to the TO's question? Now that your pricing model moves more and more towards those of other microstock sites, when will we be back to a 50% commission? For the time being our current commission structure remains valid (http://bit.ly/ka4sa). However, adjustments can always occur. Actually, Dirk, I think you forget that you always get 50% commission with our subscription.
@Oboy
Panthermedia has low prices now too. Would it be then ok to mark all images with 50% commission? Oboy, this is not entirely correct if you look at some of our single image prices, esp. High Res files. Before you mark your images for 50% commission, please read the first paragraph here, http://bit.ly/ka4sa.
Let me know if you have further questions, Andy G
However, adjustments can always occurThat one sentence (emphasis by me) leaves a little hope for change to the better... I know that you're paying 50% for subs, but I'd like to see that for all sales. Especially as you are undercutting your "target price" (the one for dividing the world in "cheap" angencies and "ok" agencies, a single sale DIN A4 size) by several of your newly introduced features - not only subs, but also credit packages and now the latest move to Poland, where all prices are cheaper. It just looks a bit strange, when you punish your contributors by lowering their share from 50% to 30% if they offer their work cheaper, but you do just that - and in case of e.g. the offering in Poland you don't even give them a chance to opt out.

Any updates on when the new system will come? It is around the corner, in the final testing phase. Andy
That message was posted on August 10. So what I derive is: "soon" is (at least a month) better than "around the corner". No idea though what that means in absolute terms (days? weeks? months?). Btw Andy, any comment to the TO's question? Now that your pricing model moves more and more towards those of other microstock sites, when will we be back to a 50% commission?

10% US / 90% Non-US. I'm really surprised, didn't expect that. But then again, I often see credits to shutterstock when looking through newspapers or other publications here in Germany. They seem to have many clients here at least...

Strange... there must be a bug in their system. I only noticed that I can find my images with keywords that are not shown below the picture, so I thought they only show part of the keywords relevant for search. Maybe I was assuming too much...

Not happy to see, that in Germany my english keywords are translated into german (not the best quality) and important keywords are not shown. Only 2/3 of the keywords are listed. (Sometimes the most relevant keywords are NOT listed !) So, nobody can find these illustrations by keyword. There is no way to change the language ?
Try searching by your original English keywords. For me it works. The keywords shown below the picture do not seem to be all that is used by the search algorithm, there's more to it...

it increases my workload because I am not exclusive.
That statement (at least that is my experience) is not true. I am not exclusive as well and Deepmeta has definitely decreased my workload (I think I'll have to join KB in the Deepmeta marketing team...).

Found out today that I had my first sale on Yay yesterday. One Euro for a subscription sale, how nice would that be if they could combine those prices with the volume of the big sites.

Don't feel alone. They don't want any pics with my two year old laptop either. Apparently I need to update my laptop every year. Kind of expensive for a prop since I do all my actual work on a desk top computer...
There is my new business idea: Produce fake Laptops to sell them to microstock photographers as props... You can even buy a subscription: Get the newest fancy looking model every month On Topic: It looks like I can consider myself lucky that I shoot mainly Travel, Nature and Wildlife - that never goes out of fashion. 716 approved, 35 rejected. That's better than at IS, DT, FT. The flipside is that those shots don't make nearly as much as lifestyle / business / people... Still Veer was pretty good in their first month for me, better than StockXpert, BS, 123 and even a bit better than DT (where I had a bad month). I'm still very optimistic for Veer.

At Fotolia there is no limitation for the number of prints at all.

one more thing I stumbled across: Your regular licence has some restrictions (print run less than 500K, no items for resale) which is good, but I can't see any kind of extended licence allowing these things. Are you planning on introducing ELs or did I just miss them?

Ok, I thought I give it a try... Uploaded about 180 since yesterday night, already close to 1000 views. That's impressive, let's hope that sales will be impressive too.

It's a good start. Now I can see if I have new sales without checking dozens of pages. Lots to do yet, like a way to view sales by date so we can see what sold recently. But thanks for at least getting us a summary.
Click on "Display as table" on the statistics site, that will show you all your sales in chronological order.

What I would do is pack some long lenses go shoot Wildlife only - that would be the greatest fun for me, but most likely not the best moneymaker on the micros

I haven't received this letter, but I don't see any reason to say "yes". As others have already pointed out, they could easily use the images by simply buying an EL.
Can they? Afaik the maximum size for web usage according to the Shutterstock licence is 800 X 600 pixels - same for ELs. So an EL still would not allow this usage.

I haven't received the e-mail, but from what I read here I can't see anywhere that they really want the images for free.
They mention that they want them for a specific usage not covered by their (i.e. Shutterstock's) current licence. So why not just treat that e-mail as a request for your approval of that usage (including you providing a price tag for that)? Why not just write back that you are happy to be chosen for such a great opportunity and that you would happily grant them the right to use your pictures in the intended way if, and only if they buy an (or maybe two or three because of the extended usage terms) extended licences. And that, with the same conditions, you would happily include all other files within your portfolio for such usage?
Their reply to such a response would be really interesting...

1: If you choose to be exclusive (with any agency) you agree not to sell via any other outlet. So I would strongly recommend not to try to break that agreement on the hope that they will not find out - because sooner or later they will.
Whether you choose exclusivity or prefer to sell via multiple agencies, that's a personal choice that is debated regularly at the forums with supporters for both camps. It depends on a lot of things, but for myself I can only say I am not considering exclusivity. I rather not put all my eggs into one basket.
2: Right, you get (as a non-exclusive beginner) 30% of each sale at Fotolia. If a file sells for 1 credit (smallest size) you get 30 cents.
