Hasn't worked for me - 1140 downloads, 'only 140 sales to reach the next rank' (silver). Less sales to reach silver than before but silver was 1,000 sales. Now it's 1280 sales?
@Steveball, to my knowledge the rank requirements have not changed. Silver is still 1,000 sales according to the chart here: https://us.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors/ConditionsSend me an email with your account login name and I'll check into this for you. -Mat [email protected]

Mat, what about extended licenses on Adobe Stock (or via CC)?
@dirkr, Adobe Stock is not selling extended licenses at this time. All requests for this type of use will be referred to Fotolia. -Mat

Mat, any plans to give exclusive contributors a better deal on Adobe sales than nonexclusive contributors or files.?
@Tickstock, not at this time. All contributors receive a 33% commission on Adobe Stock sales that exceed the minimum payout regardless of rank or exclusivity. -Mat

Hi Everyone, Thank you so much for the great questions. I will do my best to continue to answer them all as the day goes on. "Mat, how about past sub sales? will they count as one full download as well?"@cidepix, Yes that is correct. All past subscription downloads have been adjusted to equal 1 full sale towards your rank. Will sales on adobe stock be reported in real time on fotolia? Can we see on fotolia which sales came via adobe?@cobalt: Yes, sales are recorded in real time. Those sales will not be differentiated in your dashboard at this time. Will Adobe undercut his prices by DPC? When will Adobe close DPC?@r2d2 The prices that have been announced are what we are offering. Dollar Photo Club will continue to run as normal. However, we have stopped promoting and marketing the site. Mat, can you please clarify how will videos be treated by Adobe Stock?@ultimagaina, Videos are not currently available on Adobe Stock but we are constantly considering the best ways to improve the product based on client and contributors feedback and needs. "Adobe - please reconsider accepting editorial content. There is a need in the marketplace for these kind of images as well!"@noodle; We arent offering editorial at this time. "Is it a pay raise? 750 images for $199 means you would get something like 8 or 9 cents per sale doesn't it?"@tickstock, There is a minimum payout as seen in the link I shared earlier. "I think that's correct but then is it a raise since everyone will get the guaranteed minimum? Did they raise that or is it staying the same?"The minimum payout structure remains the same according to your rank. "Am I dreaming or did I also see mention of Adobe Stock as a seperate website too? (i was running out the door when i started reading all the gubbins so maybe it was just a lack of oxygen)"@smilla, the standalone site for Adobe Stock is here: www.stock.adobe.com

Image prices seem to range from $9.99 for a single image, to as low as 26c for the super heavy users (750 images / month).
$3.33 for a DL isn't bad (I think; it's been a while since I've thought about indie commissions), but I'm positive that 9c is terrible.
I'd guess that the most common sale price will be 10 images a month for $30 to CC subscribers, so $1 commission per sale.
It could be worse.
@KB You can learn more information about the commission structure here: https://us.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors/RoyaltiesNo commissions will drop below the minimum amount which is based on your Fotolia rank. -Mat

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new stock marketplace, Adobe Stock!
As most of you will know, Adobe has continually strived to ensure those working in the creative industry, including photographers, are at the forefront of their company environment and ethos. We are together working to expand this vision towards a multi-billion dollar sharing economy which you are now part of. All images available in Fotolias standard collection have automatically been added to Adobe Stocks platform.
The integration of Adobe Stock with Creative Cloud allows Creative Cloud customers to launch Adobe Stock directly within CC desktop software, and add watermarked or licensed images to their Creative Cloud Libraries. This in turn allows them to access and work with images across multiple desktop tools. When creatives are ready to license the image for the final project, they can do so directly within the desktop software they are working in. In short, your images will be far more accessible and easy to purchase than ever before.
Adobe Stock will act in addition as a standalone website expanding again the potential reach for your images to be seen by millions. This will no doubt have a phenomenal effect on your sales.
The good news does not stop there. Fotolia subscription payouts have been raised, from 20-25% to 33% for all contributors! Adobe Stock payouts will be 33% on all products. And are maintaining the existing Fotolia guaranteed payout floors to protect your commissions on large subscriptions.
In addition, all subscription sales at Fotolia and Adobe Stock will be equal to one full download towards your rank. This gives you an opportunity to jump through the ranks and increase your income at a much faster rate. All you have to do is continue to submit your images through Fotolia.

I think it is far from a saturated market. The demand for video content is growing every day at a very fast rate. I would be very interested to see some statistics showing how many people bought video footage a year ago compared to today and then to see those numbers a year from now. Based on the trends I've seen I would be willing to bet the jump is huge in comparison.

Hi All,
The Fotolia site development team has updated the indexing page so you can shuffle and sort your keywords in order of relevance again.
In the indexing tool under the box of keywords simply click the "order keywords" link. You can move any keywords you want up or down from there. Remember that the search places priority on the first 7 keywords submitted so be sure to place the most relevant keywords at the top of the list.
Have a great day!

@BD, yes that is correct. If the images are approved for the standard collection they will not be added to the free section as one of the 3 images of the week.
Only images that are declined for the standard collection have the potential to be added to the free section.

Hi all,
FYI, out of the entire collection of images that are approved for the free section only 3 images are made available to download each week (that's 3 total, not 3 of yours). Even if you mistakenly submit an image with the free section option set to yes and find that the image is refused for the standard collection but then approved for the free section the odds of it being downloaded are pretty low.
That being said, it is important that you check the settings before you submit. If you are concerned that you have a batch of images that were submitted to the free section shoot me an email and I'll be happy to have the tech team remove them all.

The 10 files web-upload limit doesn't make any sense.
FTP is a much more practical way to upload in my opinion. If you have any questions about using FTP to upload shoot me an email and I'll be happy to help: [email protected]-Mat

Hello all, I wanted to follow up to let you know that we have finished applying the sales from the Dollar Photo Club reactivation into the affected Fotolia accounts. The sales have been added as additional full resolution credits sales in addition to the Dollar Photo Club sale/commission that was already applied. If you have any specific questions or concerns please feel free to write to me directly: [email protected]Kind regards, Mat Hayward

I'm not sure I'm following you. What is the primary concern? I searched "gourmet" in Fotolia and found over 1 million results. Are you concerned that the system will change the word gourmet to epicure automatically as a translation into English? As far as I can tell that isn't happening. Please let me know what specific information your concern is based on so I can investigate. Thank you, Mat -The number of keywords entered is now displayed in the indexing form adjacent to each image. -The language will be changed in the indexing page to indicate you can add up to 50 keywords though 30 is recommended. -Mat
Nice talk Mat, let us dream!
I don't want to be a killjoy but honestly, why bother when only a preferred part of them will be indexed? Your new dictionary will change any keyword with never heard (for some of us) synonyms like "gourmet" to "epicure", just because gourmet is not of English origin. Or "medicinal" to "medicative", who knows why?
You say in https://eu.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors/Tips/Indexing/Overview : "The keywords are certainly the most important fields of the indexation; these often make a huge difference in an images sales potential. This is the customers primary search method. So, it is very important to fill those fields very carefully.
To make sure you use the right keywords, put yourself in the place of a buyer; what keyword would you type in, if you were looking for this particular image?" That's all true, so: - would buyers look for "epicure" or for "gourmet" when searching for cake? - would they look for "medicinal" hers or for "medicative" herbs? - will my medicinal plant images have better sales potential with the keyword "medicative" as with "medicinal"? Do plants have medicinal properties or medicative properties? Even in this text the word medicative is red underlined by spell check.
Indeed these words are synonyms but I've never heard about "epicure", I just looked it up in several well known dictionaries and guess what? My cake is: http://www.yourdictionary.com/epicure noun
1. Someone who has a refined taste for fine food and drink. An example of an epicure is a writer for a food magazine. 2. A person devoted to sensuous pleasure and luxurious living.
While gourmet food: Gourmet is a cultural ideal associated with the culinary arts of fine food and drink, or haute cuisine. Wikipedia.
FT was my no.1 agency (no matter what others say) but I'm totally lost on this new site.

Hello everyone, As you are aware, contributors that had opted out of Dollar Photo Club were inadvertently opted in for approximately 20 hours. Initially when the bug was discovered it was thought that this only impacted the search engine and that buyers received a 404 error if they attempted to purchase a license to use the file. We recently discovered however that some images were downloaded and licensed. We are very sorry to everyone that this has impacted. To demonstrate our sincerity, any images belonging to opted out contributors that were downloaded while this bug was active were paid a subscription commission and now Fotolia will add a full resolution credit sale commission (standard license) to those effected. Those effected will see the additional commission in the next few days. My role at Fotolia has recently changed. I have switched into a full-time contributor relations role. Contributors are an important part of Fotolia and I would like to personally prove that to you as we move forward. I can be reached directly via email should you have any questions, comments or concerns: [email protected]Kind regards, Mat Hayward

Hi all, @KarenH, it appears you were given incorrect information. I am very sorry for the confusion. Vimagio does have an api key and they are selling our images legitimately on your behalf. Commissions on sales created through their site are paid immediately through your Fotolia account. You can read more information about the api program here: https://us.fotolia.com/Services/APIregards, Mat

Hi All, Thanks again for your feedback about the Fotolia.com update, it was very helpful. The site development team has been working hard to make the changes that have been requested. Here is an update of what has been done so far.... -The number of keywords entered is now displayed in the indexing form adjacent to each image. -You can update the category for your online files. -If you choose to use the web uploader instead of ftp you can upload up to ten 30mb images at once. Other requests that have been noted and are currently being worked on.... -You will soon be able to update your preferences in the member menu to link to the contributor dashboard instead of the customer dashboard. -The language will be changed in the indexing page to indicate you can add up to 50 keywords though 30 is recommended. -Ability to sort keywords in the indexing form. -Adding file price on the image tooltip for your own images. Thanks again. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to reach out to me directly via email: [email protected]-Mat

Mat, is Adobe holding on to the legacy decisions of Fotolia, or will they let people back in that got expelled without clear reason given?
@SemmickPhoto, Nothing has changed at Fotolia regarding policies and procedures. I'm more than happy to discuss individual account issues privately. Feel free to email me: [email protected]. -Mat

OK what does this mean?
"You are about to submit 1 content. Content without complete indexing will be saved but not submitted for moderation. Cancel/Confirm"
No idea
Clicked confirm and it went thru to review anyway
Did the same. and not submitted. Im lost on this new system. Always said....whatever site makes this painless wins. This has Pain.
That message is informing you that IF there is a problem the changes you made will be saved. If there is a problem after you click to submit the area that is not completed should be highlighted with a thin red box. -Mat

Hi all, The web uploader has been updated at Fotolia. You can now upload 10 images up to 30mb each at a time. Hopefully this change will help those of you that were struggling with uploads. I do still recommend you use ftp to upload when possible. If you have any questions about how to use ftp please feel free to send me an email: [email protected]Thanks! Mat

Hi all, just a quick note to let you know that you can still upload images with a maximum of 50 keywords. It's been determined that the sweet spot for keywords is between 20-30 so the number 30 you have read on the site is a recommendation and not a mandate or change. The language will be changed on the site asap.
-Mat
Thank you Mat. Very good to know. So if I want I can upload as usual.
By sweet spot, do you mean that images with 20 to 30 keywords sell better and/or are better placed in the searches?
Yes, you can upload as usual. The most effective "best practice" is to add between 20-30 relevant, high quality keywords to maximize visibility in the search. -Mat
