Cameras / Lenses / Re: Leica M Monochrome
« on: May 10, 2012, 16:12 »
I don't get this. I do quite a number of monochrome stylized portraits and I will always preffer to work on separate channels, rather than on a grayscale image.

What? Zoonar again? Jeez, these guys really know how to make a name for themselves.
Be careful people, and when leaving make sure you ask to delete your account, otherwise you won't get the remaining royalties.

Just my situation! Six month ago I cancelled my account. I think that everybody understands what that means: I'm quitting, right?. Now, after 6 months, my images have been deleted from Zoonar but still remain in the partner agencies. I asked Michael about that issue and I was told that I had to 'delete my profile' and wait six months more! He offensively said that this was new to him and never occurred before just making me feel so stupid as if I couldn't tell 'cancelling my account' from 'deleting my profile'. Now I see that I'm not the only one.

He's a liar. The bold part is simply a blatant lie, because he already knew AT LEAST from my case this situation, so obviously it wasn't new to him.

Wish you'd said it was by Paul Melcher, that would have saved me the effort of clicking on the link.

I can't imagine anyone in his right mind buying this.

I spoke too soon - Just had 4 batches approved and I sold about 12-15 images from them  ;D hope it continues.

I'm finding this difficult to translate

This guy is awesome, I always find his posts entertaining. He's like the MSG's personal Forrest Gump.

Santosa - upload to Shutterstock, Fotolia, Dreamstime, iStockphoto if you want to see SALES, man.
However, I really like this vector, honestly: http://www.canstockphoto.com/tiger-white-flower88-7997037.html

My experience is the same as yours, Elena. New batches sell very poorly in the last 3-4 weeks or so. It's quite weird to see these photos selling at Fotolia, Depositphotos and others and not on SS. I have uploaded in separate days, at least twice per week, with a good degree of variety of subjects in each batch. I think they've changed something in the search algorithm, or the buyers aren't interested in the new content like they used to. Or too much dillution?

New Sites - General / Re: Zoonar down?
« on: May 07, 2012, 08:19 »
I hope they'll still function until I get my money out. I canceled my account last year, waited 6 months to have all my images removed, and then when I asked for my remaining royalties they told me I had to "delete my account", which is different. Wonder why they didn't tell me in the first place, I mean - why the helll would anyone want to remove all the photos, if not for leaving the * place and getting the remaining royalties? And now I have to wait until July to get my money. Be warned!

I am opted in, but I only got $18 sales.

No - I think Jesper, the most downloaded man in the world is getting married.
Yuri must be his best man.

I wonder if the wedding tog will be able to get them to sign model releases  ;D

I thought Fernando will be the wedding tog, since Jesper wants an original and very well produced set of photos  ;)

Not quite BME, but close. A good month.

General Photography Discussion / Re: 5Dmkiii Vs D800

Right. According to their rankings, D800 has the greatest sensor ever made, outperforming even the mighty PhaseOne IQ 180. Gimme a break...

[...] . I also do not like that they got a hold of Jesper's personal contact information without my consent. This means that at least one of our distribution partners has broken our privacy policy, which we now have to spend time following up on.

I'm sorry Yuri but I really don't understand this part (maybe my english is just not so good)... are you the only "owner" of his contact informations? It seems a bit.... weird... what if he obtained Jesper's contact infos via another channel?

... like a model agency for example?

or facebook or, or...?
Kinda strange on your part to wished to be notified by the brazilian before making this video. Are you Jesper's mother and he's under 18?

I'm looking forward for the public announcement where they'll thank everyone for the hard work, but sadly they must go...  ;D
These guys don't stand a chance.

This is much more versatile than a tablet and its perfect for photo retouching. I also have a wacom tablet too, use it rarely and mostly for drawings.

Same as Sean. Just replace 1ds3 with another 5d2.

Last time I checked I was doing well over a dollar on SS. Some say it has to do with ODs and ELs.

Same here, I have contacted  support. A bit too many bugs lately, no?

Looks as if they have fallen into the trap of "improving" the site recently and providing "cool features", like somewhere else I can think of where the need for coolness constantly trumps the need to have things working  ;D

The nasty part is that I fear these problems have to do with library growth. If we think of it, SS was the most stable and functional agency in all these years. Suddenly, without any obvious reason, the missing images problem appears. After a while again and then again, even more often. The only thing that changed radically in this time is the size of the library. We can only hope that SS' software is able to cope with even more tens of millions of images, because to me it looks like it's losing it, lately. After missing images now missing confirmation emails, also missing responses from support when asked about what the hail is going on.
Unfunny.

SS has a responsibility to make sure its site is fully functional for all of its contributors, if they accept images from us, we should expect that our images will be indexed and available for sale in the same time frame as every other port on the site. Some ports have not been affected by this bug while for some of us the bug issues have been severe and long term.

Unfortunately I agree with you about the scalability issues, although I do not agree that the problem has come on suddenly.  The missing image and keyword issues have been occurring for multiple years, however the scope of the problem is growing. Missing images are showing up consistently and frequently and the issues are affecting higher numbers of ports.  Therefore it is simply visible to greater numbers of people.

It appeared suddenly, just not now. Some 2 years ago, around that. And it kept on appearing since then. They still haven't figured out where the glitch is, in all this time.

For stock photographers, micro and traditional, the MP race is now ridiculous - there is no real justification alone in the increase in MPs to go ahead with any of the super high MP cameras. Only thing I can think of would be greater allowance for cropping, that's it, but a photographer with basic skills should at least be able to frame/compose properly and stop being so lazy, utilize their feet more, alternatively a longer lens and/or charm to get in close enough to their subjects.

That's the truth. I find simply amusing the excuse to "be able to crop more" from the image, I would send these guys back to school for that.
