I guess I don't understand the point of posting such wild and unfounded speculation.
He's speaking from the viewpoint of a pro stock photographer who is only now checking out the microstock scene, and his concerns are derived from his years of experience in the traditional side of the industry. Whether they're valid or not remains to be seen ...

... Havent had a sale since. ... A good enough reason for me not to upload to FT just yet. Thanks for sharing, Pixart. I hope things pick up for you soon.

Looking further at the numbers, I'd say that there are perhaps 2200 regularly active contributors on DT (i.e. people with 100+ images), with about 20% of them having 1000+ sales. I would call these people "serious".
I'll be in that club very soon. Not an overly bad performance given that I don't sell many aircraft shots on DT, and that I've only been there 6.1/2 months.

... If I could put a week like this together, I'd make my goal and then some.
It's a frustrating round of golf: everything connects on some holes, but falls short on others.

No ELs for me on StockXpert yet, but I've only been on there for 2.1/2 months.

Looking at that portfolio makes me feel quite ignorant - I have no idea who most of those people are!

I think you misunderstood my playful jab, Freezingpics - I meant "what nerve" to StockXpert, not you!

It isn't working for me, either. (in Vancouver, Canada)

I cannot comment because I don't use CS3 to convert my raw images. But you are definitely doing something to upsize your images.

I think number of sales is a better "seriousness" indicator than number of images. I've seen a few people with 1000+ images online that involved very little thought and effort. The only barrier to having 1000+ images online is time; earning money from your efforts involves much more. One contributor in particular comes to mind as I write this - although quite prolific in posting stuff, I very much doubt that he generates significant income from his efforts.
"Serious", to me, implies that you've got a measurable goal in place, and that you've thought about how you're going to achieve it. By including goals, strategy, and tactics into the equation, I'd say that very few people in this industry are "serious". From what I've seen, most people prefer to look at microstock in a very casual light, and are content to make whatever they make using that same casual approach.

In this year I never heard of anyone who got accepted at SS without being rejected prior. ... The only "Big Six" place that rejected my initial application was StockXpert ... what nerve! (playful grin) ... I do not think the standard is as high when you submit images. ... I agree with this - I haven't had a rejection at SS in over 200 submissions! I sure wish IS was as lenient as their competitors sometimes are.

You are submitting images larger than your camera is capable of producing, and they are assuming that you are using Photoshop's Image > Image Size... facility to add pixels.

I hope things get working at FT soon - I now have a month of images to upload!

I have that head on my monopod - it works well. I usually work with a tripod, so I can't say that I've used it a lot, though.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing as well.
My IS sales are down, down, down. I was planning on making Gold level by December, but things will really have to rally soon in order for that to happen.

I haven't noticed anything unusual... other than a rather gigantic 30%+ sales dip beginning around the start of June.

Buyers have had trouble DLing my images this weekend, and I've been contacted three times by customer support to tell me that they've issued a refund.

I wonder exactly how long it will take to get me changed up to bronze.............. ....and then how long it will take them to alter all the wrong commission credits......
It's nothing much to worry about, really. You only get 2 cents more per credit, which maximizes out at 8 cents per regular DL. What you need to do now is contact customer support and have them change all the images in your portfolio to 50 credits for an EL sale - this'll increase your EL sales price from $6.60 to $17.50. Be sure to change your EL sales preference to 50 credits while you're at it. I'll be hitting silver level soon - I hope they have everything worked out by then!

or wait for the updated 30D and learn to clean the camera yourself. It really isn't that hard once you do it a couple times... I agree - there really is nothing to it. Even doing something as simple as getting in there with a strong blower goes a long, long way.

... If YOU were a potential buyer of images, would you stick with FT or would you already be looking around for a more reliable agency?
Quite possibly a possible possibility, which is why I'm beginning to build a portfolio on BigStock. ... unless of course they won't be able to resolve all the technical issues in reasonable time.
That's going to be the trick, isn't it? ... There are photos of space stations and the earth from outer space higher on the page (by Sharply done how do you do it?)
They're composite images made using a shot taken from an airplane window. Fairly easy to do, really. They're showing up on your search because I used the keywords "arc, arced, arch, arched" to describe the horizon (I have versions where the horizon is flat and level).
