My wife wants something similar for child birth, she would like to wake up after it's over :-)

D3 has Kodak 14 megapixel DCS-14n sensor. Canon is making sensor in house.

Sony says that it has developed a full-frame, 35mm-format 24.81-megapixel CMOS sensor. As if a high-rez, full-frame sensor isn't good enough, Sony says that the new sensor will be able to yield an impressive 6.3 frames per second. By contrast, Canon says its 21.1MP EOS 1Ds Mark III can shoot up to 5fps. The strange part about the new Sony sensor is that it only offers 12-bit output, while higher-end SLRs, such as Canon's 1Ds Mark III and Nikon's D3, already offer 14-bit output.

General Stock Discussion / Begun, the Price War has...

Is this subscription trend a start of price war in microstock industry? It look like in order to survive agencies need to offer images cheaper than competition...

I think it's false rumor. It going to be either:
  • less than 25mp
or
  • more than $2500

I agree with most of above and I can also say "mea culpa". But I am new here so I did not learn to have right perspective for things. Once I got more "experience" I probably will no longer appear here complaining  ;D

I am new so I am not getting all this FUD tactics here.  What different if you sell 1 photo for $1 or 4 photos for 25 cents? Is it because bigger competiton in sales, more people will have sales with smaller per item price?

I am at beginning so everything except SS allows me to buy one coffee per months. I will be happy when it will be two coffees :-)

General - Top Sites / Re: Review times
« on: May 30, 2008, 15:00 »
My only problem with review times is backlog building. I am in process of reviewing, processing and uploading of my old photos so I submit equally to every site. If there are any limitations: number, process or review, it builds up on some sites. I gave up uploading to BigStock, SV cause it takes light years to review. DT and FT are probably next cause I cannot deal with hundreds of files in queues. Their process is to time consuming. I managed to upload around 1000 photos per month to SS, 123RF, CS, FP.  I got average acceptance rate of 45% but 99% of my sales coming from SS. I am not shooting specifically for  stock right now I just upload whatever I got so I am happy when it sales.

Upload process is the best hopefully their marketing team is as good as programmers

For a beginer DT seems to be a little less problematic. I still got much more sales from 123RF i StockXpert than FT and DT combined. For last 2 months I have tried all top 10 agencies and I would consider it as my "investment" phase  :D. Sales only happen on SS.

Well I would be happy to clean my queue but I am not patient enough with their process. Still is far better than Fotolia :-)

Is there a way to go to next photo after submission instead of going back to the list?

I am currently limited to 13 submissions but their webiste got a bug and you can submit as many as you want. I am to lazy and submitting process is not smooth so I am usually doing twice my limit.

Have you noticed that "feature"?

General Stock Discussion / Best site for nature/landscapes
« on: May 30, 2008, 12:50 »
Speaking from "experience" of my first 2 months. I only included site that had any downloads. For me only Shutterstock was worth an effort. I sold over 500 pictures while on other 6 combined is less than 50.

And the question is, does downsizing to minimum requirements matters?

With Windows Vista SP1 Microsoft will force the operating system to show the full amount of system memory installed, and not only the memory that Vista has available, but it does not mean that Vista SP1 will resolve the 4 GB of RAM limitations of the 32-bit Vista operating system.

« on: May 27, 2008, 19:08 »
My 15 slots are already taken so it would be pure waste of time to try perfecting rejected images, putting them back into queue (wasting my available slots). I am still reviewing my old images and maybe 40000 of photos waiting to be selected, processed, keyworded and uploaded. So I would rather use my time on other sites that trying to push single photo on IStock. When I run out of my old stuff I might be spending more time on each picture or shoot for stock. Now I am just trying to put my old stuff to work and I am still in 2005 :D

Crestock.com / Memorial Day - slightly OT

I guess holiday is officially over so I can ask a little bit silly question:

How flying hot dog is related to this holiday? It comes on the first page when you do search for "memorial day".

If I upload to one site only I might need to obey their rules but I submit to agents who have different standards. I am not going to contest IS rejection it could be acceptable to others so I will not waste my time trying to clone images. It is "take it if you like it" game for me.

Why should I clone this? It's what it is if somebody needs handbell without any text on it this person can clone it. I am just taking picture of an object and my job is to deliver photo.

They specified a reason +++Polska+++ which means Poland. I guess reviewer did not google for a text he/she did not understand.

I got this from IS reviewer:
"We regret to inform you that we cannot accept your submission, entitled Handbell ( http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/6165611/2/istockphoto_6165611_handbell.jpg) for addition to the iStockphoto library for the following reasons:

++Polska++
This file includes content that may be subject to copyright or trademark protection. Certain use of this file creates risk of infringement and we regret that it cannot be accepted, unless this content is removed from the file."

I laughed at first, but I think I will email them  ;D

iStockPhoto.com / How can I delete photo on IS?
« on: May 23, 2008, 18:02 »
I uploaded photo with my wife in a scene accidentally. Reviewer asked for model release but so far I was trying to avoid this headaches with models and witnesses for model release.  I guess I want this photo removed but I do not see this options anywhere.

I guess Photojournalism, Nature, Wedding, Portrait, Candid, Erotic or Macro are separate genres. Some of these categories sell some not in microstock world so what defines stock photography?
