Amazon is not allowing returns on digital music purchases so why do all these agencies allow returns on digital items? All sales should be final.

All these keywording services are doing exactly the same: display you a couple of images, then you select a bunch of photos and got a set of keywords in the clipboard. https://imstocker.com/en/keyworder

Isn't FB an example of how most businesses operate in the US?
1. Step 1: Eliminate all competition, create a monopoly 2. Step 2: Maximize profit: lower quality of product/service, remove disaster recovery 3. Step 3: Disaster happens: get a government bailout

If keyword spam is a true problem then everything will be classified as "background" :-)
A machine learning algorithm walks into a bar. The bartender asks, Whatll you have? The algorithm says, Whats everyone else having?

Deep down I knew it's gonna be like this, we'll probably have a few more waves of these small approvals till September and in the end it's not going to even come close to the amounts we were told we could reach. It's not a bad deal, but the max estimated amounts were quite bait-ish.
That's why it is going in batches, to collect data to back up the claim that free content is improving contributor's sales. If the result turns out to be different the whole experiment can be stopped before too much money is spent. You can have a cake and eat it :-)

I was surprised that they chose SFTP over FTPS. FTPS to FTP is like HTTPS to HTTP, just increased security on the same protocol.

I am using LFTP command-line tool and the new configuration is different so I had to change my script. Customer support was not familiar with this FTP client so I have to experiment to make it work. It seems like their FTP processing software cannot detect when the same file is uploaded again so I ended up with multiple copies of the same image. I send a message to customer support and got unlocked.

M2 :-)
For spamming, when I was debugging SFTP upload issues my script had after the switch. I fixed it eventually but after that, I got an email that the account has been blocked.

The claim that it works with most FTP clients is not true. It does not work with sftp and lftp on Mac. It works with FileZilla only but it cannot be scripted so it is useless.

Right now on most of these marketplaces, there is some sort of "listing" fee. So it would be an upfront investment just to get there with no guarantee that you would sell anything. If you already got a lot of followers it might work.

Stock agencies will start generating new images using AI trained on examples accumulated in their portfolio.

It seems like they did not send the form again this year.

I guess they collected enough money to start another business. Similar to what Uber is going to do, get rid of contributors and replace them with robotic cars. Is this sharing economy a Ponzi scheme?

Does it mean somebody caught them cheating on contributors and they have to confess that it happened?

Contributors are definitely not a priority :-)

I already filed when they did not provide it on time. I reported anything I received from agencies who did not provide 1099-MISC on time together as additional income. Same as last year.
I still do not understand why I got 1042-S if I am clearly not a non-resident alien. You cannot be both so I think you should either get 1099 or 1042 not both of them. One form contains my SS# and the other does not.

Is there a way to see counts per earning type? Breakdown by dollar amounts is meaningless, one enhanced sale is equivalent to hundreds of subscriptions.

Today is the deadline for providing 1099 electronically. The penalty for not providing it is around $50 but probably if they get audited. I seriously wonder if their accounting is sound. How could we trust them to properly calculate anything?

What a bunch of incompetent idiots. They generated 1042s-S again even if they got W-9 on file. I wonder if I can report them to IRS because they clearly break the law by not providing me 1099 form.

Pretty much they can avoid penalties if they send before March 31st:
Businesses, including tax-exempt and government entities, must send Copy A of Form 1099-MISC to the IRS by: January 31 of the following year when youre reporting non-employee compensation payments in Box 7; February 28 if filing by paper when youre NOT reporting non-employee compensation in Box 7; or March 31 if filing electronically when youre NOT reporting non-employee compensation in Box 7.
Royalties are in Box 2.
