I have been hanging out to get accepted by Alamy in the hope of decent money. There are a number of other sites like them as well.
As far as snapvillage goes, I was regularly earning about $6 a month. But now I figure $6 gained or lost is not going to change my world, so I have put all my images there up to $50 and do not allow subscription downloads. I will review that after January and see if I have made a wise decision or not.
For me the frustration has been in not be able to get enough photos accepted. Around 2000 images on DT, SS, StockXpert, and IS would be a good return.
But alas, they do not like my stuff.

Actually Canstockphoto has had a keywording tool for years.
I have loaded photos on pixmac and cannot work out how to add the keywords or select auto keywords. the page just sits there for me.

As has been pointed out in the past, i give the sites are hard time when I do not think they are pulling their weight. But I am always willing to advertise good work as well.
Over the past 5 days my sales have increased by 500% on DT.

FOr those interested. THe monitor is Chimei CMV938D and I have purchased a calibrator.
As far as the camera. It is a Canon 30d. I use a 24-105 L IS f4 lens.
Not sure if it has noise reduction, but I would not use it. I shoot in RAW, convert in DPP (Canon) and only check the white balance in DPP. I send as TIFF direct to Photoshop.
A bit of history now. With in camera sharpness settings set to default, the reviewers complain the photos are not sharp enough.
Now, I am finding the best results for acceptance is almost always to add another layer > screen > 10% > unsharp mask > then send to Neat Image.
I give up.
One reviewer will complain about noise, the next one wants sharpness. I have entered my stuff in competitions and been told they are super sharp by the judges without tinkering. Yet, that is not good enough for reviewers.

puzzles me too Madelaide.
Lots of mixed race people seem to align themselves with the color for some reason. I always get a giggle out of that when those same people complain about how the whites have done this or that. I think, hey, you're part white yourself ... lol.

No RGebbie. None. Heaps of promises in their advertising but few can deliver.

Besides all this, DT is dead. Very confusing site, and I notice more and more bigger portfolios I have been tracking are closing.
I just leave my stuff there because the $5 or so a month might add up to something one day.
Dead site. For me anyway.

Miserable so far. $17 from SS. Last month, only got into double digit sales on 4 days.

Really tired lately of getting rejects with claims they have found noise, or purple fringing.
There is no way any of this is viewable at 100%. They must blow up to 200% at least.
DOes anyone know.

The thing that is curious to me with the tax situation is my understanding is that the retail price MUST include the state taxes. Therefore anything you buy from New York State should be 8% less because the vendor does not have to collect the tax if the item is going outside the state.

I called Canon in Australia to ask about the price and they said it would not be set until next month.
With the AUD bouncing up and down I don't blame them. They are looking for a price point so they don't have to constantly change the price.
The Sony A900 is advertised at $4400 AUD.

Personal opinion here.
Personally I would not submit pictures of people to microstock agencies period.
Regardless of who the model is, they would want to get a bit of an idea where the picture is used, and for what purpose. So I regard people pics as premium.
You want a release, tell me where you are going to use it first.

I shoot RAW in Canon. Yes the Digital Photo Professional that comes with the pack is very good. You can change the white balance and make a few tweaks before transferring it to Photoshop.

So how does a person become a member or elector of the college. How does that work.

For the life of me I cannot understand how the US Election system works. I was reading on wikipedia about the electoral colleges etc. it is all strange to me.

Looks like the death knell in the Old Curiousity Shop that was Macro.
For a lot of us, who were hoping to climb into that sphere at sometime, it is sad.

I bought a Cokin set the other day. In Australia virtually a must for daylight.
Cokin is good because it does not matter the lens size, you just get the 77 or 58 mm adaptor.
Also have a Hoya but only 58mm.
The best answer I have found is HDR anyways.

Well I for one - regardless of copyright or the business model concepts - want to know how much money I am going to make.
So unless I hear about how this is going to be achieved from the site, or there is some guarantee of sales, I am not interested.
Just far too many new players thinking they will just get some server space, suck in heaps of photographers to load their stuff, and wait and see.

Well Eugene, all good and well arguing the merit of the business model, but ...
Who the bloody hell are you?
I harp back to my original reply. Why on earth would we bother to load to another site when we have seen so many go belly up after all our effort.
What is your plan, man?
Tell us why we should bother to do business with you. What are you offering? In this day and age if you want to attract good images you are going to have to come up with a plan to get us onboard.
This forum is full of introductions from new site owners, and full of stories about sites winding up.

Like, you're kidding aren't you.
What is your name, what is your experience? It costs us lots of money and time to set up new accounts. You use Corbis, Getty and Alamy as benchmarks against which artists can compare incomes! say what!
What is your marketing plan? How much capital do you have?
Are you willing to pay us to upload to a new site?
Who will your customers be? How will you get to them? What committment do they have to you?
