Your last question first: just get the code line from FAA, install the Wordpress plugin "iframe", create a page "Prints" (or whatever), paste the code (and remodel it a bit according to iframe-plugin syntax), add that page to your main menu - done!
Thanks, I did that but it just wont work, its either placed at the bottom of the page below the blog menu widgets, or if I use a blank page, its not showing up at all. I think the Javascript code line is blocking the iframe code from being read properly as WP doesnt support direct JS.
Our print page is at http://www.picturemojo.co.nz/prints-from-fine-art-america/The code for our page is: <h1 style="text-align: center;">Prints from Fine Art America</h1> <p style="text-align: center;">You can order prints of a selection of our photos in various media from this page.</p> <p style="text-align: center;">Please note that print orders placed here will be fulfilled by <a href="http://www.fineartamerica.com" target="_blank">Fine Art America</a>, and their shopping cart is separate from our cart for image licensing on the main site.</p> <iframe style="display: inline-block; width: 100%; height: 820px; border: none; overflow: hidden;" src="https://fineartamerica.com/widgetshoppingcart/artwork.html?memberidtype=artistid&memberid=******&domainid=0&showheader=0&height=600" height="240" width="320"></iframe>
using the iframe plugin. Is that what you have?

I've gone ahead and tried it. Seems to work fine. I tried logging in using "guest" on 2 different browsers at the same time and that didn't cause an issue either. It's still setup if anyone wants to try. Pretend to buy something from the 3D Illustrations category.
TL, as Cascoly said, links are sent from Paypal I believe.
What about these links, (including test purchases of files which have since been deleted.

I dont know of a site that doesnt require a registration for a download. Its a once off, and then all they need to do is login when they come back. I think people expect to sign up these days. And its only a username and email, very quick. I do agree that emailing the password might be a it cumbersome, but if they want the image, they will register.
if the site uses paypal there's no need to register
clickbank just takes you to a payment screen, no need to register to download programs or images
for those who want it, it should be an option
Not a real solution, but is it possible to set up an anonymous guest account? Then set the username and password to default to "guest" and thus allow anyone to purchase from the site without having to register!
actually I've done that before for online games -- anyone can 'login' as a guest & play
not sure how it would work here -- perhaps someone can test it out?
One problem with that approach at present would be that every anonymous user's download links would pile up in one place. They would have to be restricted to email only.

well i guess we are a bit different, or maybe a lot different. firstly i don't classify my work as sh!t, I prefer to think of it as very high end work, you know, the type of work that enabled me to cash in huge on the first gold rush pre getty, during the getty reign, and unlike your assumption, during the second gold rush at the micros, only IS. so please, don't speculate about me, and also, i am not gnashing my teeth as i have made a very good living shooting stock - better than most i'd say, and still continue to do so. i am also not clear where you read that I had the inability to earn money from stock so that is throwing me off a bit, i am however very clear that the returns for individual photographers will slowly diminish over the next ten years, and i think it will start with the ones who proudly shoot what they deem to be "sh!t", they are a dime a dozen on the micros. it will take the quality shooters longer, but they too will slowly have their returns diminish over the next ten years.
To be honest I'm finding that the real goldmine nowadays is to shoot sh!t ... but obviously to shoot it well. You'd be amazed how many popular subjects (i.e what the buyers actually buy) are staggeringly under-represented. All the money nowadays is in Cornish f^*king pasties. Well ... maybe not all of it ... but most of it anyway.
Thanks Gostwyck, I've been wondering what to shoot next I've done a Cornish pasty, but I haven't yet done fish fingers...coming soon!

I believe its impossible to put subs out of the scene these days unless SS goes that direction (and all other agencies too), contributors won't leave a big part of their income (most doing from 30 to 60% at SS) dreaming with money they have no idea if other agencies would make up or not
I wouldn't say it wouldn't be better to remove subs from all agencies (maybe it would) but putting everything in the equation (other agencies income, strategy, etc) I believe that is impossible (once again sorry!)
You are probably right Luis, but that takes me back to my original point - you don't have to upload every file to every site. I have decided which files I'm willing to sell as subs, and which not. The nots only go to non subs sites, and it's only common sense, as they aren't going to be big sellers anyway.

I agree with a lot of what you say Gostwyck, but Shudderstock has good points too.
Producing a cornish pasty on white for the little guy and selling it in large numbers for a few dollars is fine, but the big buyers are buying that image on subs for even less.
You will no doubt say that many subs images are never used, and that may be true, but we could all have a much better living if we sold less images for just a bit more money.
Much as IS was doing, until they overdid the more money part.

^^^ sean we all need to abolish subscription sites. that is about as low as one can get in this industry, and will eventually kill it. good to hear you are not supporting subscription sites. i wish everyone did that.
Unfortunately "everyone" doesn't mean us. If I went to DP and asked that they would say no you must close your account if you don't want to participate in SUBS. Honestly, if they made that optional I'd bet most core contributors would do it. DP would and could never do it because of the competitive MS environment (most sites do it and would have to offer opt out). I am ALL FOR KILLING SUBS if all sites would offer opt out AND most contributors opted out, driving buyers to OD (PAYGO).
You can upload selectively. You don't have to send every file to every site. Most people don't do that though, they can't resist putting everything everywhere. TBH, SS started me down this path by rejecting many good selling images as out of focus, when we went back there last year after quitting IS exclusive. At the time, I thought, if I can't put them on SS, there's no point having them on any micros. I thank them for it, I think it put us in a stronger position

Locke with DP? ? I find that extremely hard to believe, surely not with their set base royalties? I thought he was dead against low-based royalty places as a code of honor.
I find the pricing and royalty level ok and on par with GL, for instance. So, I'm OK with that. No plans for "every" site.
Your images would probably average $1 per image/month at SS, possibly better given time to become established in the default sort order. In other words if you uploaded 10K images to SS then they should generate an income of $10K+ per month. Because of the high-volume it is also remarkably steady income too. If you can find a better return than that elsewhere, as an independent contributor, then I'd love to hear about it!
Maybe, but I'm in place right now where I don't need to support sub programs, and would rather not.
Congrats, Sean. I took some time to view your latest work and what a WOW factor it continues to be. You are a very talented artist.
Thanks! I'd rather be shooting then keywording 8 years of images.... I quite like the new garden center series - I'm going to do a BTS blog sometime this week.
But don't DP have subs? We put a few hundred on there, but got very few sales (although I'm sure that won't happen to you Sean) - almost all sales were 30 cent subs. In fact when we asked them to remove our photos, they offered a higher level, but with so few POD sales, it would have made little difference. Has something changed?

We bought a monopod a few years ago, in Sydney as it happens. We used it once, found it offered no advantage over a stabilised lens, and have never used it since.
Have you actually tried one?
If you're travelling to Chch, I'll meet you at the airport and you can have it for $50:-)
We have a Gitzo 1197 basalt tripod for travelling, expensive but worth it.

These results really surprise me.
1) We are seeing no growth at SS, in spite of continual uploading. SS is not dominant in our results, only one of several similar. They are not our top earner.
2) We are seeing month on month growth at Alamy, and are optimistic about this site.
3) We had a BME at DT, I know they are cyclical, but still, hope to see it continue. Wish they had something like a Level 5 only section, with no subs. A gap in the market, I think, but no one seems interested.
4) IS was up over April, nice to see.
You probably know my uploading philosophy, I have repeated it many times, so won't bore you by doing so again. Anyone who doesn't know and wants to, feel free to site mail.

After Leo Blanchette interview I made another post about Colin and Linda McKie (PictureMojo). Thanks Colin and Linda for your time. The post was published a little late due to my commitments but finally here it is
Thanks Alberto!
Thank you!

Jeez! I was only quoting a certain thread in the Alamy forum, thats all.
Sure, but you were saying that only choc box stuff sells, and when you think how many people are reading this forum, we need to get things right. All I'm saying is that everything sells at Alamy, as long as it's of a reasonable quality, of course

Mine are a random mix of what I have over there.
Same. I would say that everything sells at Alamy.

No, DT is going really well, and this month is a BME, by a long way, even including our days before being IS exclusive.
We have removed all our files from the dirt cheap sites, though, maybe that has something to do with it?

I don't think I've ever bought anything online without having created an account on the seller's website. It's simply the way things work.

The voting is so close that this reminds me of the election between Al Gore and Georg Bush where the state of Florida demanded a recount which took months to decide.
Okay, I know it's totally OT, but I live in Florida, and I voted here in that election. Since it was personal for me, let me clarify something for you. THE RECOUNT DIDN'T HAPPEN. It was blocked by the US Supreme Court. So no, a recount didn't decide the election. To this day nobody knows for sure what that recount would have shown because it wasn't allowed to be completed.
Another OT, but I think relevant to this discussion about trolls and general unpleasantness:- I'd love to know why someone gave Lisa a -1 for this statement of fact. Is the person brave enough to explain? Thanks!
195
« on: May 29, 2013, 15:37 »
noone wants trolls. + They are not relevant for the discussion, Just get rid of them by whatever means. The discussion here is between the anonymous party and the non anonymous party. I can see both sides, but I really think the anonymous part has more drawbacks than benifits.
But I ask you to convince me: What are the advantages for the forum (not for the individual) to have anonymous participants.
The advantage for the forum is more open and honest, and by definition, more interesting, discussion of issues. Those who are not anonymous are bound to think more carefully about consequences before expressing any opinions.

I think what you are suggesting is too much of a reaction to cure the problem. I can think of only 3 forum members I'd like to never hear from again, two of them I think have been previously banned.
Wherever you go in life, there's always a small number of people spoiling things for everyone else.
It seems to me that all you need to do is re-ban people more quickly - as soon as you realise who it is, and that doesn't take long.

The slideshow on the network images is making me feel seasick. Can autoplay be optional? I'd love to switch it off if possible.
BTW We are appearing in our own network searches. Is that a bug or a feature?

This was never a sales thread, it was merely to show a live site used by a Stocksy customer using the photo's in context.
Sadly I thought people here were curious, unfortunately MSG doesn't seem to be able to handle it, so there's no real point passing any more information on.
People are curious Matt, please keep posting about Stocksy. Just ignore the trolls! Sadly even banning them doesn't work for long, they just can't help themselves and keep coming back under other names.

I called the php.ini from another file and the memory limit is set to 64m the max execution time is set to 10 :/ It also does not tell me where the file actually is so I'm pretty sure I do not have access to edit it.
Unless there's a way to trick it by adding some overrides but that might not work either.
I was really looking forward to doing this too
Depending on the hosting setup you may be able to set options in your .htaccess file, or create a php.ini in the root directory with just the options you want to set. The syntax differs in each of these methods, but Google is your friend here.

I see something strange when I do a search on my site, my images show up with the keyword I search by, and I get a banner on the bottom with Cathyslifestockphotos and 4 image numbers below the banner. If I refresh the page, the 4 images show up one at a time, but they go immediately back to image numbers only. If I goto Cathylifestockphotos and try the same search (chicken) I see here images with that keyword, and banners and pictures (mine included) for each artist she is networked with. Any idea why her images don't show up on my site, only the image numbers?
I'm seeing that as well, some of Cathy's images have no thumbnails, but the main image pages are OK.
