I've made 6 loans now.  I love this scheme. It's such a great way of helping people without them losing their pride. Looks like I'm too late to  join in on the Microstock group one again.  It always seems to happen when I have emptied my paypal account.  I think I will leave 25$ in my account next time and then I will have it there ready.  :)

The top two had got their funds when I looked, but I loaned to the bottom tow. Now that I've lent him some money, just out of interest what is the guy with the bike going to do? :) (it's in spanish?)
He sells icecream.

I have had a huge surge of subs so far this month at Dt.   My RPD is 1.14 compared to nearly 1.60 last month and a  high of over 1.90 one month.

1757
HaHa that's why I don't remember writing my post.  I thought somebody had got into my account and written it as i know i didn't write it last month

a.k.a.-tom you are my new hero with your excellent positive attitude.  :D :D :D

Thank you, sir.  I may need you to accept all my incoming calls for the next 6 weeks while I go thru therapy...my brain has changed to oatmeal.. ha ha ha ha..

Yes, you're right, I am emerald level and hadn't thought about that when I posted.  Obviously for the people that haven't had a chance to double prices their RPD won't be as high.

RPD this month on IS   1.20
RPD this month on fot  1.37
With over 100 earnt more this month on Fotolia.
I'm another one that doesn't see the problem compared to other sites. The only site that gives me a better RPD is DT but I get less dls there.
larger size subs  SS  38c
Larger size subs Fot 39c
Larger size subs DT 35c
The only one where I get more for larger sized subs is IS but I regularly get subs there for 19, 22 and 24c etc for the smaller ones.
I don't like subs anywhere but don't know why Fot is being singled out for this.

My RPD for IS is fairly consistently the same as yours but at FT it is 90c. It seems surprising that your RPD at FT should be 50% higher (although EL's have dried up there for me).

It occurs to me that you must be at Emerald level or above which, assuming you've re-priced your images to 2 credits minimum, does skew the equation somewhat. For the vast majority of FT contributors that would not apply.

Newbie Discussion / Re: New But Not Really

You should do well with that attitude.  I keep reading all the time about how this is a number game when it is so a quality and 'stockability'  game.
I am amazed at the images that people put in critique forums especially at Fotolia when they can't see why an image was rejected. Often the images you wouldn't even call a reasonable snapshot and have zero selling potential yet the photographers even after having it explained still can't see that the image is not good.
Maybe that is one good arguement for getting rid of some of the old low quality stuff that doesn't sell on the sites because people see an image on line as bad as theres and so expect theres to get approved.

1763
They are now in two groups. One american sales and one non american sales.  It's for the new taxation to show which images are going to be taxed and which aren't.

1764
I just looked back over my last 1000 sales on Fot and it happened 4 times. The largest amount was  3.8$ and one was as low as 38c.

Even with the subs at DT and Fotolia my RPD is still over 30c higher at DT and 11c higher at Fotolia than it is at IS

As much as I agree 20% at IS is very low for us, at least I have rarely, if ever, had any sub sales for less than 50 cents, most are $1-$6, even at 20%. Most of my sales are not subs. I have far more DLs and earn many times more at IS than DT.

Exactly the the most important difference to me is that I get 50% instead of 20%.
 :)
DT has been by far my fastest rising site this year.  it was way way down in 4th position but now beats SS and is quickly gaining on FT and IS.

JMHO, but DT seems to me the logical choice for disaffected istock buyers.  Their site is similarly organized, comparably high acceptance standards, reliable search engine, good customer service.  DT seems to have a similar vibe and comparable prices and features to what istock used to have.

Out of all the sites I think Dreamstime would feel the most familiar and comfortable to long time istock buyers who feel they have been priced out of purchasing there.

At least this is what I have heard from a couple of buyers.  Not sure how many they represent?

1767
I agree, I dont remember ever looking at views and for a long while now I don't look at dl numbers.  The only thing that interests me is total amount of $ made. The only other thing I keep an eye on is to see if new images have taken off or not.
I never understood the fuss made when Dt stopped recording views for people that aren't signed in, I really don't care who looks at my images if they dont want to buy it.

I agree!
Views do not count and the number of downloads is far less important than the dollars you are able to put in the bank. Money talks!

The most I ever got was 5 in one month but average is one or two a month and believe me I do a little dance everytime I get one :) I get more now than when I had them at 10$

FT pay me the most because of my ranking, They sell for 200$ of which I get about 76$.

Do you get a lot of ELs at FOT?  I have heard other high rank sellers say they don't charge the max allowed.

Hard to believe that having ELs set at $200 would not affect volume...?

Istock pay between 20 and 40$ ,
only had a couple at 123 at about 20$,
at DT the highest ones I've had have been 25$
and SS pay a straight 28$.
Don't remember if I've ever had one at bigstock or StockXpert.
And to answer the Peter's question, no my EL sales didn't change at FT when subs were introduced.

Just curious, I know Ext Lic 's are not as common as regular dl or subs. However, does anyone here know which of the Big6 pays the best commission for it?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Donating Free Images (Poll)
« on: July 08, 2009, 00:32 »
I had an IS FIOTW once and a free image of the day at DT.  In both cases sales went up and in the case of IS the image still went on to get a flame so it didn't even seem to hurt sales on that image.
I wouldnt give a free image that is just getting put into a collection with other free images, it would have to have a front page slot to bring attention to just my portfolio.  The only other one that I would consider is the SS free image of the week.
I didn't vote because although my experiences were positive I don't want to make it look as though giving free images in general is a positive thing.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Active Forum = Active Sales?
« on: July 07, 2009, 15:21 »
I think that it's  because we cant be bothered with the sites that don't make money for us.  When my sales dropped to about 40% of what they were I stopped talking on the IS forums  but once they started to go up again I started to join in again.  I didn't even look at the Fotolia forums until they started to make decent money for me.

Adobe Stock / Re: Ext lic, you sell many? what makes them ?
« on: July 04, 2009, 00:03 »
Even at higher level i think that there is more money to be made by having an image at multiple sites rather than exclusive to one.  The only exception would be if after being uploaded for a year or so I noticed that a particular image sold  well at Fotolia and not anywhere else.

fotografer, or anyone with more experience in Fotolia, additional question for you all:
As a newbie I notice that going exclusive image with Fotolia does not give you any benefit viz: more money. You have to be at the even higher level to make exclusive images worth the exclusiveness.

I average one of two a month at FT. The good thing there is that as you go throught the ranks you can increase the price so I now get about 76$ for each EL there.  Like most people I get the most at SS followed by IS, Fot,  and  then dreams.  I got one  twice from 123 but don't remember ever getting one from StockXpert or bigstock. They are completely random and you can go a month with out getting one and then suddenly get them on multiple sites. The type of picture that gets them also seems completely random to me although my best seller for normal dls at ss is also my bestseller for ELs there.
