No they haven't deleted them they have just re-grouped them all in their own section of the main forum. They have even let people have threads in their own languages. All topics about the IRS apparently have been banned on the SS forum. It's all about "they stole my pictures" and "show me your first/last download" again.

I would imagine that Sean gets annoyed about Yuri always being hailed as the most successful microstock contributor when in fact Sean as a one man show is probably much more successful profit wise. I have a lot of respect for Yuri's achievements but I have even more respect for Sean's.

I agree, although it really isn't important as sales are better than ever it is reassuring to know that it isn't just me.

Yes, I hadn't thought about that but I am seeing the same at DT despite as you say having record sales. Although not being full time I don't upload nearly as much as you. It always seems to me that when one site goes down as is the case with SS at the moment for me another one or two have record months and bridge the gap. I am in exactly the same situation. My rank has been slowly dropping. I have been guessing it is most likely because of the influx of macro pros and stock "factories" that can upload great stock in massive quantities.
On dreamstime, for example, where we can track our portfolio exposure, I have been steadily losing ground as a % of the whole collection, despite uploading constantly and having several BME's in a row.
At least for the moment overall sales are still keeping pace with the additional supply.

Just wait for him to come in now and tell us all how great they are like he did with Crestock

Thanks Lisa, I'll maybe give it a try with one shoot to see how it goes. If they get refused then I'll do what you did and upload them everywhere else. My theory about why I am slowly going down the ranks is nothing to do with that then. I'm losing about one place a month even though I am having BMEs there every month. Other people must just be doing even better.

Has anybody uploaded any images to the infinite collection and if so have you had any success? I am toying with the idea of doing a shoot especially for it but don't know if it will be a waste of time or not. I am doing better than ever at fotolia but my overall rank is slowly going down as my sales improve so I was wondering if it's because some contributors are making a lot of money with infinite collection images and moving up the ranks.

So what made you decide on IS over DT in the end? Magnum -
Simplification. I have a hard time believing you can use the benefits of exclusivity to replace the total earnings of several agencies, although both IS and DT offer perks (higher commissions, search placement).
I use microstock earnings for extra cash, not to support my life. Therefor it is easier for me to make a decision not related to earnings. I wanted to deal with one agency, and create images geared toward what I believed would be successful with that specific agency. I also wanted to know that if there was ever any misuse or theft of my images (a growing problem), I would only have one agency to trace it from.
For the record regarding earnings, the gap closed considerably for me between IS and DT over the last 12 months. I would be happy with either.

Sorry but the only thing you can do is wait the 6 months that you agreed to when you signed on with them. Many people have tried unsuccesfully to break the agreement but it's just a matter of being patient.

I-m really sorry to see that you were banned from SS forums. You were giving Bichon a run for his money as being the funniest person on the forums. I hope they let you back soon as your posts will be missed by many. x

There-s an interesting post in one of the threads by CSProductions http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=62287&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=420quote Actually, SS is getting bad legal advice from their legal counsel. The income tax as administered by the IRS in the greatest hoax ever perpetrated upon a society. The Constitution For the United States limits the income tax laws to a very narrow and priviledged classification of activities. It is the activities that are taxed, and that tax is measured by the amount of income produced by those activities. It is not the income itself that is taxed. Royalties from activities such as those in which we are engaged here on SS are not included in that priviledged classification, so by withholding anything from anyone, SS is making itself subject to a charge of criminal conversion of property, even if it does so at the instruction of the IRS. This hoax is made possible largely by redefining commonly used words and phrases in the tax laws so that they are easily misconstrued and widely missaplied. I strongly recommend the book "Cracking the Code," available from www.LostHorizons.com.

I would agree with him and tell him that he's absolutely correct there is no money to be made with micro. The more people that believe this the less competition for all of us

My guess is that they will put the StockXpert images to the back of the search until we go in and disambiguate them to be in line with the controlled vocabulary of IS.

I'm independent and I agree with Sean. SS is the only site that needs that sort of uploading. Sorry sljocke, but you are exclusive on iStock - how may you know how microstock works? You just know how iStock works ;-)
Because from what I read here, people have to keep shoving stuff into the SS collection as fast as possible to keep sales up. Not so much true at IS.

He must have changed his mind then because it's actually for sale at the Simpsons ride at Universal Studios in Florida and I have seen it for sale in Europe.A quick check on internet showed that it's been for sale since the summer of 2008.
You can even trademark something that doesn't exist. "We are unlikely to see Homer Simpsons favorite beer anytime soon, at least in the US. Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons TV show) has stated that he will not license the Duff trademark for a real beer, over concern that it would encourage kids to drink. Fox TV and Groening sued an Australian producer of Duff in 1995."

Steve-oh no longer works for StockXpert. If I remember rightly he was moved when getty took over. What reminds me... where's Steve-oh? I think the last time we heard of him was when his daughter was born. I doubt he is in such a long parental leave.

Similar experience here. I had 1600 first full month and it took me 6 months to better that. Considering I have a portfolio about 6 times bigger than I did then I don't get that many more dls now. Of course earnings are much higher because of earning 38c instead of 25c and lots of ODs to bump it up.
Yes, but after the first month there's a noticeable change in the slope of your line. If DLs influenced the honeymoon, mine would have been over almost immediately - I had >1400 in my first month on SS. It took me two more months to get that number past 2000 DLs/month.

How little you know Sean if you think that. I'm not exclusive but totally agree with him. I think that all this spamming is going to seriously damage microstock and at the moment IS are the only ones that are seriously doing anything about it. iStock exclusive, it figures. Bend over and pick up the soap Sean, not only let istock do it to you but convince the rest of us that we should let them as well.

The same way as it does for exclusives. Although in my opinion it is perfectly acceptable to refuse an image for spamming and I think they should do it more often.
How would it get the point across? People'll still do it next time, if there was no penalty.

Also Sean it's as I have stated before we had such a bad deal in previous BMs that all that has happened is that it the bias towards exclusive has lessened slightly but certainly not dissapeared completely. It is now more as I think it should be with a bit of advantage to exclusives without overdoing it. I still haven't quite returned to the average dls I had over a year ago at IS whereas other sites have doubled for me.
From this thread: http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/april-2009-earnings-breakdown/ it seems like the BME's outweigh the non-BME's. Of course, most of the posts are useless, as they just illustrate a random distribution between the sites, which gives no information at all.
