I would not be paying full price for a Sony at the moment. Check the news on them. They have experienced a 72% drop in profit. They will be doing almost anything soon to sell something.

For the tiny amount of cash you get, the upload criteria is stupid. If I had the quality of Alamy or Getty, I would contribute to them.
Message to buyers: You get what you pay for.

what's their reasoning behind rejecting graffiti?
Most places I know it is illegal. Not sure about overseas, but here in Australia it is illegal to make a gain from an illegal activity. Therefore the artist has no right to claim a benefit.

Just had my first batch of photos taken with my new 24-105mm f4 IS L Canon lens and the new Sekonic light meter rejected.
Taken at 100 ISO.
"Noise and artifacts and poor lighting".

Red Bubble is really a site set up for artists who want to show off their work to other artists. Most the sales come from the contributors. The mob that own it are pretty lazy and are not into marketing their site to buyers.
You will never get rich there.

I just found a site of an Australian photographer who goes to New Guinea and is after old camera gear to teach students. I figure, since some of you guys are probably like me and hoarding old bits and pieces we could never sell in a fit, it might be a good thing if you looked at that locally. This fella is www.pidgin.com.au but I am sure there would be something like it where you live. The other thing I thought of, was I sent my Nikon D1 off to a university because I remember being a broke journo student and never having anything to use. Been trying to sell the old Nikon and get sick of dealing with people. I figure it is more value to a student, just to learn all the buttons and stuff.

Yeah but I can kiss the new 5D goodbye. Would have been nice if I could have prepaid for it when the dollar was 98 cents a month ago.

Last night it got hammered, dropping to .613 USD.
Saw charters on the news this morning suggesting it can fall to below .40 USD.
So 2.5 sales for each stock sale ... Yah!
Will not be too many Australians heading overseas soon however.

Consolidation is a consequence of business these days. All sectors are in the process. Even biggies like Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton are involved.

The issue I have with these half-witted deals is the agencies are charging to be artist's agents, and are not doing their job.
They take the best slice of the action, and then only make decisions on profit based on the good of the agency, not the artists.
They are SUPPOSED to be out there getting the best deal for us, not them. And whenever you suggest they are not good at their job you get some dunce coming back with "it is our business model" blah blah blah, or "this is not a democracy".

Who on MySpace is going to order 10,000 cards?
I like the way these publishers sell things with high end numbers and "potential earnings".
The real issue is how much is the price of the card, and the return to the photographer. The fee should be 5% of the retail price of the card. Sounds like everyone is getting their chop except the person who made the image.

I am looking to get a little pocket sized camera to have with me at all times, especially when I cannot be lugging the DSLR etc.
Looking for something that can shoot with very low noise at least 400ISO. What are your experiences.

50mm f1.8 for about $100 (great fun lens) 24-105mm f4 L IS as your stable lens.
(How much did you get for the D200?)

Sounds like an ideal way to disable your portfolio with them. It was the first site I submitted to, and the one that gives me the most grief. After 2 years I am still stuck on below 50 images despite submitting thousands.
I am on their blacklist I am sure.
The keywording at istock is stupid. It is pain in the a55. And they have this thing where people suggest your keywords are wrong. Like on a blank billboard they took off "road sign" because it was inappropriate.

Oh come on, give me a break. I thought your photos were featured, not sitting in a blurred background.
Is this a set? Or have they hired this home? Looks to me as if it was part of the existing decor.
This copyright thing is getting beyond a joke. So what now ... the film producers have to run around and get approval for every isolated object in a set? The cups, the chairs, the vase, the flowers?

One thing I have learned about life is you can be - by your own choice - a victim or an aggressor. Regardless of the situation I always prefer to take the aggressor role.
For instance, I was one of 9 orphaned kids. Some in my family still are bitter and twisted. I prefer the option that I had experienced before my teens life as most people would never understand if they lived to be 200.
In this instance, I would see this image use as a benefit. I would be PROMOTING the fact that I am such a good photographer, Hollywood have chosen ME over most of the professionals. I notice Gregor has some great graphics. I could almost build a business on the use of this one single image in a film.

Terrible news. He helped me out personally a lot with Photoshop things. I enjoyed taking the piss out of him in posts and he was pretty quick witted.
I sincerely hope he has found peace, and hope his family are able to deal with their loss.

I agree with Karamala, but I would go further. If I lived in a smaller place I would be off to the local paper to get them to do a story on how a local photographer had his work featured in Hollywood.
Would put it in my resume. Would have the DVD on my website. Build it up.

Yeah I would like to see sellable photos above 400 ISO. My 30D limit is 200 ... anything higher they knock them back.

The trick (used to be, not sure these days) with SS is to always have 2 or 3 photos in the queue.
You seem to make more sales when you have something new just approved. Not sure why, I think there users trawl the latest images.
