"Starting tomorrow until Dec 7, this code will give you 15% off any purchase: 1979SUCKS."

1979SUCKS? It's getting worse and worse. This is beyond nightmare.

I don't understand the childish and unprofessional behavior. The twitter page seems to be run by one person who speaks like an individual, and the error page treats both contributors and clients as if they are 8-year olds. Do they really think people will laugh at their "funny" monsters and 1979 jokes? Many companies around the world rely on Istock for their images. They have deadlines to meet, projects to finish, yet Istock thinks we all live in a happy little joyful candyland where business and economics is of secondary importance. They don't seem to care what kind of message this conveys. Not just the downtime in itself is horrible, but the way they present it is horrible as well.

Shutterstock.com / ONE cent short of this month's payout!
« on: November 30, 2011, 19:15 »
At the verge of the new month, it seems I have earned $74,99 at Shutterstock this month. The minimum payout is $75. Can you believe it?

This is a joke.

I truly can't believe my eyes.

Am I living in some parallel dimension now? Did I walk onto the set of Idiocracy?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istockphoto Down For Maintenance or Hacked?
« on: November 27, 2011, 14:04 »
So, to get things straight:

- They have had a maintenance that was not announced in time
- They failed to properly communicate this downtime to its contributors (just a forum post, no e-mails)
- They put up a "Jay is working on it" page instead of a professional looking "Maintenance" page
- They offered a 10% discount out of our pockets to compensate for their clients
- They still haven't fixed ANY of the important bugs we currently encounter
- They fail to give contributors an ETA for their missing royalties payment

Seriously. One would expect more from a big multi-million dollar company like this. Why are these amateurs still in business?

The biggest problem is the lack of communication to the affected contributors, and the fact they can't even apologize to us. Secondly, waiting till monday to fix it, wth?

Image Sleuth / Use as logo
« on: November 20, 2011, 08:47 »
Found one of my images on some fishing store window, and being used as some kind of logo.

http://rayburntacklemonkey.com/

Image could have been bought from any major stock site, since it's one of my most popular images. But use as a logo is always prohibited, even with an extended license, am I right?

What would be the best course of action? Try to find out where he bought it from (is that possible?), or personally ask him to remove it (easiest way) or ask for a financial compensation (which I doubt he or she will pay)?

2159
How about compatibility nowadays? Will people with other vector programs be able to open EPS10 files as well, or does this mean we'll be excluding certain buyers by delivering EPS10?

What a bunch of mongs. Hands down the most unprofessional, dumbest, glitch-ridden stock site of all time.

Considering the current market position and contributors leaving IS/FT, everyone is happy with how respectful the former underdog SS behaves towards its contributors. And I share in their happiness, but something tells me that one day, SS will become corrupted with greed and starts to screw its own contributors. Think about it, Istock was once what Shutterstock is now, and Istock totally lost control of their contributors and customer traffic, due to mismanagement and greed.

What do you think?

Smart move! Making good use of the massive unhappiness of current IS exclusives. It shows that SS knows what they're doing and that they're closely observing the current market/competitors.

Well I knew via a few "insiders"  the situation was bad but this smells of catastrophy. At this rate I doubt they will be around at all in 2012. Anyhow, what do they care, I mean they have Lobo, right. He will no doubt save the situation. :D

BTW,  dont mind gotswyck, this is his happy-hour, after a few shots he gets sour.
I know - hopefully he'll fall asleep. I posted the link from above on the IS site - within ten minutes my forum privileges have been suspended! That has got to be a record, they were only re-introduced following a nine month ban last week and today was my first post, they said, and I quote
"The administration team at iStockphoto has locked your forum privileges.  Comments from iStockphoto Administrators (if any):"

Result. PS The discussion topic has been removed. I think their a little touchy. My post is below.

 :D :D I salute you, sir.

I probably sold it from IS or SS.

But okay, thanks! It didn't look like this book exceeded the 500.000 prints either.

2165
I just did an image search on one of my vector illustrations, and I found it was being used as a book cover for some Spanish book. This image sold a number of times on various stocksites, but wasn't downloaded with an extended license. I'm not really sure if that is permitted?

Redirecting customers to SS or DT, fine, but FT...?

2167
It's not as good as the other mid-tiers, but I'm getting regular sales (sadly, lots of subscriptions of $.30, but sometimes a regular one). I only have a portfolio of 120 though, so perhaps I'm not really that representative.

Crestock.com / Re: Crestock is ALIVE!
« on: November 09, 2011, 17:04 »
It sells horribly. I've made about $10 in a year, the result of 20 vector sales, most of which were subscription sales.

But any raise for contributors is positive. Better than a paycut, and it shows they are committed to the site.

Hi Poul,

Great that we can now see the number of views. Good to see that there's traffic at DrawShop. Hopefully it will turn into some sales.

Better to have tried and decided to drop the project than never to have tried at all!

Not if you waste time and resources of contributors, not knowing what you're doing.

I am sure they have lost more money than you :)

That's completely irrelevant.

Besides, I haven't uploaded anything, I was just speaking about those who did.

I'm reading this topic for the first time now, and I almost choked on my breakfast of laughter. The sudden decision to jump into the monochrome "niche" market has to be one of the most horrible business decisions ever. You'd effectively scare away 99% of your audience, you'd get less uploads, less money, less everything, only for some images that could be bought in color and then converted to b/w!
