Sorry couldn't take a look at your entry because it was telling me that I haven't got the right version of a flash player to see the page.  :(

General Stock Discussion / Re: Please Vote For My Model
« on: July 05, 2008, 02:19 »
I didn't say that I didn't vote for her.  I voted for her because I thought that she was very good and have seen other images of her in the SS forums, I just found it a bit offensive on her behalf that her deafness was being used like this.
I have a deaf friend who is also very upfront about her deafness and she also thought that this was a very tacky way of getting votes. I have seen and admire your work and think that you were probably just misguided in the way you went about this probably with all the best intentions in the world but it didn't come across like that.

I'm afraid that is how it came across to me as well.  Using somebody Else's deafness to promote himself.  I hope that I'm wrong but that's the way it sounds.

You ought to ashamed at pimping your images.

Oh Jeez this is ridiculous never mind she can win this without your help.  I have posted this in several communities and THIS is the only one to react with such vicious stupidity, what a bunch of children. This is really reading like a bunch of Jealously to me. I expect this kind of response from a personality like Miz but the rest of you should know better.

If I wanted to promote myself I would Promote myself with my work not with somebody Else's disability. When I promote ME I use MY Work as MY WORK SPEAKS FOR ITS SELF

Thanks for that, it made very interesting reading.

Wow they sound totally desperate and paranoid.  Jose Elias defended himself extremely well but I'd rather them think that we make a pittance here then less of them will decide to try the micros.

Some photographers are carefully investigating what "micro boys", "idiots", "corporate slaves" like us are doing.....oh boy.... :)

http://www.alamy.com/forums/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=2448

istock, will you please stop organizing events at "holiday destinations", burning all the "photo opportunities" for these poor guys?

These discussions are so weird and illogical. Malta is burned now for photo opportunities? Yeah, it was a well hidden secret before....just 14.121 images at Alamy to compete with. And Alamy claims that  most of travel images sales are RM(L) editorial - no istock competition here.

Obviously microstock-phobia beats logic.

I don't agree with this.  I think that buyers often browse portfolios if they see an image that they like and if you have a 'million' inferior images then the 'hundred' good ones will get lost and the buyer won't be bothered to wade through the whole lot to find anything worth buying

, it looks good to have a million images in your portfolio, rather than 100 truly accepted images.
just my guess. ::)

Dreamstime.com / Re: Do comments help in search...
« on: July 01, 2008, 09:59 »
I don't believe that comments have anything to do with the search in DT.  There is no way for the system to know if the comment was positive or negative or as is often the case a message totally unrelated to the image.  If somebody wants to contact you for any reason on DT the normal way to do it is to leave a message on a random image.

Hee Hee, sorry you've got to share, that's one site that I definitely won't be giving up in a hurry.  Maybe I should edit my post and say what crap it is and encourage everyone to give it up.   :)

I love Fotolia.  I beat my previous BME by over 200$ more.  That's a lot of extra money. I was very close to making 1000$ there this month. In March and April I did about 400$ a month so it has more than doubled
It overtook IS and almost caught up with SS. :)

Adobe Stock / Re: Rejections, rejections, rejections...
« on: June 30, 2008, 14:21 »
I'm finding the same as you.  They take almost anything that I send. I've had 5 refusals in the last 100.
The only one that I have problems with  is IStock they refuse about 1 in every 5.

Haven't had a problem. 8 of 8 accepted on last try. 38 of 38 on try before that. Each attempt with the same subject.  If you do not like the rejections try contacting support for an answer.  If you don't like the answers you can always leave the site and go to another. This did give me an idea for some subjects. Boots and towels.

2213
I've also got about 400 images and after 6 months make about 90$ a month with my best sellers from other sites. So worth it for an extra income especially with their ease of uploads.
The faves really seem to work but haven't given anything away free and probably won't as I don't want to give something away free that I am selling or could sell elsewhere.
Saying that the only site that I have images at that does worse is crestock but I started uploading to them and then stopped because it was 90% sub sales.

2214
No, there is no opt out option at DT.

Bigstock.com / Re: Everybody must be on vacation
« on: June 28, 2008, 02:25 »
That's strange because they have always been the slowest site to review my images and this week they have been reviewing my images in a day or two.  I even thought about starting a thread about it saying that they have finally caught up.  This has happened with 2 separate batches this week. I must have just struck lucky.

2216
By being a higher level image it gives it a better place in the search.  Any image that has a good search position can help give more exposure to your portfolio.

2217
I just checked and they do go in at level 5, they just haven't updated the page.  A maximum size assignment file earns me more than 4$ and that will be going up next month.

2218
Yes DT buy the image from you for that price and they get all the royalties from the image after that.  They will only buy it if they think that the image is able to make that much money which probably means that it isn't a very good deal for you unless you want some quick cash.  It's  very easy to earn 25$ on an image when it's already at level 4. ( I might be wrong but I think that has gone up to level 5 now)

2219
Yes I agree with everything you say.   The fact that somebody has been in this business a long time makes them no more an authority on an unknown future than anybody else. I think that knowing the ins and outs of each site is much more important than self promotion and talent will always come out on top whatever their name is.

Yawn, same doomsaying that has been going round for years.
If I had faith in your predictive talents I would have uploaded my whole folio to LO and now MP (yes I know you turned against LO when that ship started sinking, and yes MP may have agreed to promote your book but that means nothing to me)
This business is not about self promotion, if you want to make money out of it you have to have talent and find a niche or niches.
This is something that the ego obsessed dinosaurs will never understand.
This game, unlike the old RM sites is largely an anonymous one.
The contributers know who Yuri etc. are because they are great personal success stories. The buyers couldn't care less, or even be bothered to check who is responsible for the image they buy.

Dreamstime and Shutterstock both accept editorial images.

None at all :)
I never bother uploading to a site until it proves itself to be worthwhile.

Wow May took a real dive, no wonder you were getting so agitated with FT. Must have been very dissapointing for you but seems to be creeping back up now and DT filling the gap.

The post is down near the bottom of the page.

Chad gave an explanation oabout this on FT forum.

can you link the thread?

You haven't got icecream and sanwiches in the keywords as individual words only as a phrase.  If you add them in then they will show up whether you use quotes or not.

Adobe Stock / Re: Popularity?!

What results do you get when you sort your own portfolios by popular?
When I do it I only get just over half of my images show up.
