Trying to stay optimistic. With only 200 files ist this very good stats. 231

First, THNX to our CSI dpt. for reporting this Depositphotos "fraud situation".
Second, I have been in communication with DP since first day of publishing this. I asked them to remove all my files from ALL partner programs and API re-seller sites... Three times. Last reply was on Monday: Your portfolio will be removed from our partner programs and API re-seller sites as soon as possible. And yes, all files are today still active on all partner programs and API re-seller sites. Maybe is this also reason, why is acceptance on DP almost 100 % ? 234

Adobe Stock / Re: FOTOLIA FOOTAGE« on: February 04, 2014, 07:12 »They were probably subscriptions. If you go into your profile settings you can opt-out for subscriptions and get only on demand sales. General Stock Discussion / Re: What is your most selling image?« on: February 02, 2014, 10:40 »Interesting idea if we talk in generalities. No one wants to give away their secrets but I suspect that no idea is new in the world of microstock these days. Yes, there are niches but even those are getting harder to define. My bestseller(s) are images I uploaded in 2006, as well as a few unique illustrations that are actually pretty simple. The photos were taken with a Fuji S602 at a US baseball game of the crowds in the stands. They still sell today (160+ downloads, is that a lot?) even with over 65 thousand other similar images in the database when searching for crowds. When I first sold them they were sold as RF, now they are Editorial as rules have tightened. Even though the people in my shots are the size of fly specks someone in charge was worried that there might a recognizable face in the crowd. Reality was that someone copied the shot and was told that it should be submitted as editorial so they complained about mine which were then changed from RF to Editorial. So much for touting best sellers. Yes, they do get copied. If You contributed before 8 years as IS exclusive, what do You think would be for fun as well? I don`t think so. Ah, good, gold MS times... which I missed. 238

Pond5 / Re: Pond 5 sales dried up« on: January 29, 2014, 08:59 »
Mantis, as You know, POND5 is strong on videos.
I have also some photos in POND 5 portfolio, which I upload more as KEY and representative photo for video, if buyer need it. I think that photos on POND 5 are not strong sellers. Last few months also footages are not strong sellers anymore - for me ![]() 240
Pond5 / Re: Pond 5 sales dried up« on: January 29, 2014, 03:11 »
When we ask this sort of questions is fair to explain also, how many files is in portfolio, agree?
So, I have almost 500 files and YES, sales dried end of last year. POND 5 is neglibigle for me. Sales on SS (same portfolio) are better and better every year. 241

Clipcanvas is dead!
Not just for me! As I see here, also other contributors have problems with them too. No sales and what is more said, no payout. No support as well. 244
iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock accepts almost any image now?« on: January 14, 2014, 14:17 »
No, Istock is not dead. Yet!
Some old contributors with "brand portfolios" and old customers are still doing good business. I have some friends, all are among first 500 Istockers. They sell and earn less and less, compared to last year or two... but still, they do great job as exclusives. On the other side, we, non exclusives, low rated "loosers" (as IS stuff probably name us), are fighting for cents in PP, because our regular sells in MAIN are negligible small. So, "IS 500 club" works perfect. FOR NOW ! 245

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Testing 5D Mark III, wondering if I should get the 6D before getting 5d Mark IV?« on: January 11, 2014, 12:55 »I got the 6D a month ago. I got it rather than the latest 5D because it had functions that were useful to me (notably GPS) that the 5D didn't have and the places where the 5D had the advantage weren't things I needed. I'm not doing video, though. My impression is that the 5D is targetting the video market and the 6D the stills market. For stills, the 6D is amazing, especially with the incredible high ISO performance it has. Clever guy ![]() 248

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Getting Canon 5D Mark III, which lens is a must-have?« on: January 07, 2014, 07:42 »Well, you could always stand a bit further back with the 24-70 to get the same perspective as with a 90mm lens and then crop the edges off. It really depends on whether you need all 22 million pixels, or would 15 million be enough? It may seem odd to use a 5D as a cropping camera but if portraits are just one part of your work and the rest of it needs the 24-70 range then it's a reasonable alternative to having to buy two expensive lenses in order to get portraits which probably have far more MP than you really need.Yes, of course, it's not a huge issue cropping it down. Not just for us, happy users, but for picky inspectors is OK as well. |
