cant say it enough our only chance to fight against this monopolys is a contributor union.
Totally agree. A website created by photographers that is only available to professionals who use the site exclusively to sell their images/videos/illustrations. A small yearly fee and the photographer/videographer gets 90-95% of the commission per sale. Let's do it.

You'll get the occasional sale from walk around stuff, but there's plenty of images of locks, doors and train tracks from people doing the same thing.
I tend to agree with Sean because your work largely reflects my portfolio: Attention to detail but how many buyers will you find looking for street numbers or train tracks? I'm starting to stay away from general subject matter and paying more attention to themes relevant to today's issues: Environment. Religion. etc.

I no longer upload to DT anymore and cannot understand why they are rating in the top tiers here. Absolutely dead.
Which prompts the plea: Dreamstime! Lower your minimum payout limit! It takes me 6 days to reach my Shutterstock payout requirement. I'm sitting at 3 months with Dreamstime and still $40 to go. $100 is ridiculous especially if you're an agency sitting on the lower end of "middle tier"!

Back to normal. Agreed. Nice to see a 123RF rep responding in the forum. Appreciated.

The Grand Total on the earnings page is incorrect and does not include August. However, if you go to the Contributors Dashboard, the earnings box is accurate. Must just be a bug.
Not on my page. The "earnings box" is inaccurate. It only displays September earnings.

All zeros showing for me in August too (though it wasn't). I'm not worried about the missing money as I know they'll sort it out in due course. I'm more anxious to find out if I really have dropped from level 2 to level 1 which I'm not thrilled about. Hoping that once the August sales are restored my level will revert back to 2.
I would encourage everyone to check out their August 123rf earnings and contact them if you have discovered an error. This is obviously not an isolated miscalculation. Its important that 123RF is contacted and made aware that there is a serious problem with their system so they'll right the wrong ASAP.

I have the same problem: Monthly earnings for August show: $00.00. Delve deeper into daily earnings and it shows the correct information. However, my earning's total does not reflect August. Only September. My last payout was mid-August so the grand total should display more than just September.
I sent them an email today.

Good August. Bad September. Would've thought it'd be the other way around.....

Everyone will have a unique and varied reaction to agencies. The one consistent is Shutterstock, By far and away my best and most consistent agency. Everyone else is unpredictable and inconsistent. But for what its worth, this has been my experience over the past 4 years:
P5: 22 clip sales last September. Still waiting for my first sale this September. The bottom fell out in April and hasn't recovered since. Of all the agencies I've dealt with, P5 is the most extreme case of "Good to Bad". Istock: Very slow/poor sales until I reached the 1500 mark. Now it provides good, solid sales. Depositphoto: Very bizarre behavior lately. Rejecting constantly while everyone else is accepting. I think they fail to understand that they're not the SS, they're an "also-ran" agency where buyers turn to them when they can't find the image they're looking for with the top agencies. Very easy, streamlined submission procedure and always selling images that aren't selling anywhere else. 123RF: Awkward flip-here, scroll down there interface but consistent with sales and approval system. No surprises. Dreamstime: My first agency and best selling for the first few years before the bottom fell out. Too bad. Again, the overall system of approval/rejections are consistent and one of the nicest interfaces - I just wish sales would reflect the number of approved submissions I have with them.

Brilliant body of work, Jen. Thanks for sharing.

It's a mess. Period. Write to Shutterstock. But don't expect a reply for a very long time because this is affecting everyone.
And if I was the SS I'd reply via the forum to let us all know what you're doing about it. Your partners are getting very annoyed.

I'm up slightly from last July. I've been contributing for 4 years now. BTW, all agencies up marginally from last July except P5 and 123rf. They're down marginally. I shoot a wide range of subject matter.

Nice. Thanks 123RF....now what do you think the chances of IStuck joining the 21st Century?

The only relevant/important statistic is your year to year numbers. June has been a very good month for me. May was a very bad month. So What? In the end it's the year-round sales/income that matters.

And for me its 123rf. The decline started in May and continues well into June. One sale this month with 2000 images. Dreamstime has continued "steady as she goes". Nothing earth shattering but normal sales which suits me fine.

Just received $0.35 from the kind people at Dreamstime for an XL image ranked "level two". XL + Level 2 purchase = $0.35? Makes me wonder why they even bother displaying level rankings.

SS is normal. 7 sales so far in May. Pond5 has completely tanked. 1 sale over the past month. Both agencies have equal amount of clips.

I can only speak for myself but I see this as Shutterstock genius..... They were the ones who started the "out of focus" syndrome. P5 and DP have now jumped on the bandwagon while, at least for me and my submissions, Shutterstock has returned to a more reasonable form of rejections. And I'm guessing their consistent acceptance of video clips will leave P5 in the dust.
P5 will crash just like DP did. Remember when DP was floating near the top of the middle tier category? What both P5 and DP fail to recognize in my humble opinion is that not everyone is looking for that perfect shot of a female CEO leaning across her desk to shake hands with an enamored client. Many of us who are buyers are often looking for that one simple shot/clip to fill the void. Forget the aerial shot of a plane flying through clouds...do you have a static shot of leaves falling to the ground? In other words, the greater the subject range, the more likely you'll find buyers.

The only thing which will work is personal site selling some kind of very special videos IMO.
I agree 100%. I inherited extremely rare historical footage. That might be worth the time and trouble selling privately but any of my own clips are best with SS.

Since March 3rd. My shot of George crossing the Delaware is beginning to yellow.

I've cut costs too. Which means I don't spend any time trying to convince an agency to sell my work. I submit and move on. If one site doesn't sell them, another will.
There are other, more serious, reasons someone might want to contact support.
Yes. Thank you ShadySue. My motivation for contacting support was to bring to their attention that a batch of my submissions were rejected in less than a minute for the same erroneous reason.....that they were not submitted in English....suggesting either their "automated" system or reviewers have problems. If SS responded and told me that, yes I was correct, but sorry, they're all blurry, poorly cropped/framed.....fine. But to get no response says something about the SS's new "contact" policy.

Well, its at least calming to know I'm not the only one. I had 10 submissions rejected - all claiming they "weren't submitted in English". And of course, when I looked at them they were all in English. Wrote support on March 30th and haven't heard a peep. Very odd. In the ol' days I'd hear a response within 36 hours max.

And what's the definition of a "professional photographer"? Certainly it's not one who makes money taking pictures....we all achieve that distinction....it's my view that a professional photographer is "one who earns a good, decent living strictly as a photographer/videographer".
I'm not there yet. I make money but I need other means of income to pay the bills and keep my financial head above the water....And that's what I love about stock photography. There's a learning curve but it provides monetary rewards while you're learning.

I'm pretty happy with my earnings.
I guess from my perspective I can't imagine anyone really " happy" with their earnings when all the time, not to mention equipment is invested. There's so much to factor in. Some of us have far less "expense" factors. I'm still shooting with a T3i and my only investment over the past two years was a used 18-55mm lens for $50....Year to year my income increases 25% - 35%.....but despite that, I work 8-10 hours a day, many times, 6 days a week. Regardless, as with most people I'm sure, I love what I'm doing and still get a kick when someone has chosen my photo/video over countless others.....
