Is there somewhere on Bigstock to find out how much earnings I have made each month? At the moment I am recording the total earnings at the end of each month and deducting it from the previous month but I'm sure there must be and easier way. Thanks for any help

It's allowed at SS. Scott Maxwell (I think that's his name), the gold figures guy has two accounts one for his gold figures and one for another colour. It was talked about openly in the SS forums so I guess that it is OK.

I agree completely with this post. Although I think that IS have the toughest inspectors I also think that they are completely fair. Even though most other sites have taken my IS rejections it doesn't mean theat they aren't right but just that they are pickier about small details. With a bit of playing about I can usually get a rejected image approved on the second attempt. Just commenting on previous post ...is the inspection /quality requirement raised for exclusives I think is the opposite...
Ay, some of the stuff in 'latest exclusive images' on the home page I wouldn't even upload...
If some of you seriously believe that, you should take a look at the NON-exclusive vectors coming through. Some of them are just downright embarrassing and I can't figure out what the inspector(s) must have been thinking. Surely it is a case of someone who thinks owning a copy of Illustrator suddenly makes them capable of drawing. It reflects badly on the whole collection, and yet people still whine and harp about how unfair it is and that all the crap coming through the queue is all from exclusives and how all their wonderful and perfect best sellers on all the other sites are all rejected because the inspectors are jealous or something.
puh. leeze.

I suspect that they 'accidently' alter this when they have somebody with a large portofolio that they want to upload. Last time it happened ifoto's portfolio appeared with 1000's of images.

You only need to 250 sales to be exclusive if you have a good acceptance rate and 500 if your acceptance rate isn't so good. I think it is 50% acceptance rate needed with 250 sales) me neither... sniff sniff but do you have to be gold to be exclusive?? because i am only silver still.
I have no intentions of going exclusive though.

Congratulations, Being in the lightboxes also increases sales. I have 3 in at the moment and my sales have rocketed without even uploading anything in the last week.

You're so right. I have seen whole portfolios that I wonder how they ever got accepted where the photographer has just walked around their home taking photos of everything in sight from every possible angle making images with virtually no use to anybody. I'm glad that most sitesseem to be clamping down on this as it just clogs up the searches. I was just looking at the Critique Forum at Shutterstock. Some of the people trying to get their First 10 images together have absolutely no hope. The types of images they are submitting will never make it past the reviewers. They are starting from scratch - no idea of what sells, no idea about lighting, poor composition skills, weak exposures. But if you look at the databases of a lot of microstock agencies, those types of images were accepted 2 years ago. There are even sales for some of those poor quality images.
The quality is rising very fast. I hope our pricing power continues to rise too.

I'm having a record month for earnings at IS but SS is really slow. Didn't sell a single image during the night last night (European time) when I usually get 25 - 30% of my daily sales. StockXpert is also a bit down. FT and DT also BMEs.

I base success more on the total sales of a photographic session rather than on the individual image sales.

We don't know if site sales are down or not. My personal sales are way up as are lots of other people that have probably not bothered to comment on the forums. The ones making a noise are the ones who's sales are affected badly which doesn't mean that sales are down overall. When your site's sales are down, it would probably behoove you to approve more images in an attempt to offer something that other sites don't OR at least offer what they do...

I would be very surprised if 123rf got anywhere near Fotolia. I make over 8 times more on Fotolia than 123 with more or less the same portfolio. I wouldn't be surprised if 123rf passes them by the end of 2008 for a lot of contributors. The Fotolia earnings rating is drifting toward the bottom of the Big 6, and 123 is clearly growing by most accounts.

That's worth adding, I hate the catagories. One thing you didn't mention, I hate putting images into categories. We are supplying the goods for sale, the sites should be setting up the displays and deciding where to put the goods.

All sites are unusually low for me today. I know it is sunday, but this is the first time for me in last 6 months that I have 0 downloads in one day at FT. Record! LOL! I usualy predict next week by sunday, and if next week is going to be in corelation with this sunday, that wont be good.

And exactly the reason that I won't upload there.
ETA: I quoted the previous post too quickly, what I meant was that I don't upload there because of the disadvantage given by getting false bad ratings and certainly didn't mean any offence to the people that do upload there and enjoy the ratings. I know that the owners of the site have said that it doesn't make a difference but evidence by other people shows that it does. I don't plan on spending my time rating for the sake of it and I certainly don't want to get bad position in the search ratings because of a few bad members cheating the system.

I also suspect that is what is happening. I have a good acceptance rate there and my files are almost always approved within a day.Or possibly even based on ranking. I don't know if it's policy there or if the reviewers choose which batch they want and it is quicker to review files without many mistakes. Arrrr, So if we've got a low acceptance rate the review times go up you mean?
That sounds fair to me..
Steve, can you confirm that?

I have an image which has all sorts of lighting issues which I nearly didn't upload 2 years ago but decided to just let the reviewers decide. It has sold over 500 times at IS, nearly 900 at SS and various amounts over the other sites. It still sells well but now that I have got better there is no way I would have uploaded that image now and it definitely wouldn't get accepted. It surprises me everytime it sells as I now have similar and much better images in my portfolio but you can never tell what the buyers are looking for.

My sales were about 50% down on last years so it's great to be selling well again. I think it's more a case of they have been messing around with the best match again as my sales have shot up to better dls than I've had any other month this year.
So you're the one getting my sales!!
